Proverbs 6:30-31 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

"People do not despise a thief If he steals to satisfy himself when he is starving. Yet when he is found, he must restore sevenfold; He may have to give up all the substance of his house." (Proverbs 6:30, 31 NKJV)

He compares the grave impact of adultery with the penalty of stealing, as seen and perceived in human perspective. In people's eyes a person who steals may justify and plea for mercy and not be despised as long as he restitutes what he stole seven fold as per the law of Moses. But that does not exempt him from the implication of his sinful act. A person who steals gives up the blessings that God set to be poured upon his household. Stealing tilts a person's spout of blessings away from the source.

As believers our receptacle must always be postured to receive His abundant favors. Our nature is designed to give, not to steal. Even what we have in our hands which all come from Him, if we withhold what belongs to God, by His word it is robbery. As it is written- "Will man rob God? Yet you are robbing me. But you say, ‘How have we robbed you?’ In your tithes and contributions! You are cursed with a curse, for you are robbing me, the whole nation of you. (Malachi 3:8, 9 ESV)

Let's stop, reflect and resolve. Stealing is the plug. Giving is the release knob. Let's turn the tap on and let the blessings flow! It is written the Lord says: "Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the LORD of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need."(Malachi 3:10 ESV)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 6:27-29 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

"Can a man take fire to his bosom, And his clothes not be burned? Can one walk on hot coals, And his feet not be seared? So is he who goes in to his neighbor’s wife; Whoever touches her shall not be innocent." (Proverbs 6:27-29 NKJV)

He uses compelling metaphors to illustrate the grave danger and serious consequence of adultery. This sin against the 7th commandment is self-inflicting. Its repercussions are expected -likened to being burned when playing with fire. Anyone doing this, even in secret, is always caught. As they say, when there is smoke, there is fire. And, the smoke always comes out. It can't be hidden.

God hates adultery as this is a precursor to idolatry. If a person can't be faithful to a spouse who is visible, how can he/she be faithful to God, who is in spirit? It's a sin rooted in the heart. Lord Jesus said: “You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. (Matthew 5:27, 28 NKJV) 

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 6:24-26 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

"To keep you from the evil woman, From the flattering tongue of a seductress. Do not lust after her beauty in your heart, Nor let her allure you with her eyelids. For by means of a harlot A man is reduced to a crust of bread; And an adulteress will prey upon his precious life." (Proverbs 6:24-26 NKJV)

He continues to remind us the destructive cost of sexual sin. He stresses the importance of keeping alive in our heart our parents' reminders from the words of God. His words strengthen us, so as not be pulled by the spell of an adulteress. Or, not be driven by lust to chase the fatal attraction of the devil's seduction tools. Using the analogy of a crust of bread, a person who allows to be captivated and succumb to an object of intimacy outside God's blessing of marriage is cut down to insignificance. Kept unchecked, lusting after a harlot would result to a great loss of one's wealth, freedom, family, purity, integrity and soul.

Hence, we are urged to stand by God's words to give strength to our spirit, so we can be instep in our walk with God. Scriptures exhort us with these words - "I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. (Galatians 5:16 NKJV)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 6:20-23 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

"My son, keep your father’s command, And do not forsake the law of your mother. Bind them continually upon your heart; Tie them around your neck. When you roam, they will lead you; when you sleep, they will keep you; And when you awake, they will speak with you. For the commandment is a lamp, And, the law a light; Reproofs of instruction are the way of life," (Proverbs 6:20-23 NKJV)

He brings us to awareness - if we hold on to the Word – His holy and written Word, we have been taught with the way how life is to be lived. We don't grope in the dark. We walk in the light. We are guided to a secure destiny, a way of life filled with favors and overflows, in Christ Our Lord.

Apostle Paul affirms with these exhortations to Timothy to keep us reminded that: "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." (2 Timothy 3:16-17 NIV)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 6:16-19 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

"These six things the Lord hates, Yes, seven are an abomination to Him: A proud look, A lying tongue, Hands that shed innocent blood, A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that are swift in running to evil, A false witness who speaks lies, And one who sows discord among brethren." (Proverbs 6:16-19 NKJV)

God is warning us not to be a resource of such these pollutants of life. These are good lenses, though, to use for self-examination. Not to judge others, But Self. Through the Holy Spirit He leads us away from these corrupt attitudes. In Him, Love pervades. 

So, to His warning - let's stay alert. Pray. .. Apostle Paul challenged us with these words: “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power, put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.” (Ephesians 6:10-11 NIV)


And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 6:12-15 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

"A worthless person, a wicked man, Walks with a perverse mouth; He winks with his eyes, He shuffles his feet, He points with his fingers; Perversity is in his heart, He devises evil continually, He sows discord. Therefore his calamity shall come suddenly; Suddenly he shall be broken without remedy." (Proverbs 6:12-15 NKJV)

He wants us to be mindful, observant and watchful who we are dealing with, and how we deal in our daily personal and business affairs. Naughty scoundrels may cross our way. Their descriptions are recognizable. Their evil schemes are their trademark. Their mannerisms are their signboard. We ought not to be like them, too - walking in perverse behavior, gesture and language. Wherever they go, they wreck havoc and discord in their wake. 

Those acts are headed to sudden calamity - condemned on the day of reckoning. They are judged even by their words. We all, will be. Lord Jesus said: "But I tell you, on the day of judgment, men will have to give account for every idle (inoperative, nonworking) word they speak. For by your words you will be justified and acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned and sentenced. (Matthew 12:36, 37 AMP)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 6:6-11 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...


"Go to the ant, you sluggard! Consider her ways and be wise, Which, having no captain, Overseer or ruler, Provides her supplies in the summer, And gathers her food in the harvest. How long will you slumber, O sluggard? When will you rise from your sleep? A little sleep, a little slumber, A little folding of the hands to sleep— So shall your poverty come on you like a prowler, And your need like an armed man." (Proverbs 6:6-11 NKJV)

In these verses God reminds us a zeal for work is not bad, but good. It enables one to gather provisions and resources not only for one’s own needs, but to be a blessing, which is God's intention for us to be. My/our desire then is, be wise. Cooperate with God. Be zealot in doing my/our part of faith. He already did His part. Blessings are manifest on what we touch.

For His reminder, I lift up my thanksgiving. It is written: "His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire." (2 Peter 1:3-4)


And I say … AMEN!

Proverbs 6:1-5 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

"My son, if you become surety for your friend, If you have shaken hands in pledge for a stranger, You are snared by the words of your mouth; You are taken by the words of your mouth. So do this, my son, and deliver yourself; For you have come into the hand of your friend: Go and humble yourself; Plead with your friend. Give no sleep to your eyes, Nor slumber to your eyelids. Deliver yourself like a gazelle from the hand of the hunter, And like a bird from the hand of the fowler." (Proverbs 6:1-5 NKJV)

He continues reminding us to avoid another folly - making promises and commitments beyond our ability to fulfill. Yes, as believers of our Lord Jesus we are wired to be a blessing to those in need with the blessings God has given us - the 4 T’s: those are time, talent, treasure and touch.

We give help with what we have. We can't give with what we don't have. Promising to help or commit with what you don't have is folly. If we are in such situation, we are urged to get out of it urgently, and not dig in deeper. Don't just sit back with an attitude of "whatever will be, will be". 

Rather, work hard and plead out of it as best you could - like a gazelle and bird from the hand of the hunter and fowler. Call upon God for help. He will give wisdom. Always be guided by His words, as it is written - "Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law." (Romans 13:8 NIV) 

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 5:22-23 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

"His own iniquities entrap the wicked man, And he is caught in the cords of his sin. He shall die for lack of instruction, And in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray." (Proverbs 5:22, 23 NKJV)

He stresses for us to realize, man's impotency against sin in an attitude of wickedness and folly. Unhindered by instruction of God's word, when allowed in one's life, sin is like an avalanche. It gathers momentum and force as it rolls. Then culminates with a great crash. 

There are only two destinations of life's journey - eternal life or eternal death. Instruction of God's word leads to life, without it, leads to death. Before the stranglehold of sin take you far astray, the word of God calls for repentance. It is written - 'So repent (change your mind and purpose); turn around and return [to God], that your sins may be erased (blotted out, wiped clean), that times of refreshing (of recovering from the effects of heat, of reviving with fresh air) may come from the presence of the Lord; (Acts 3:19 AMP)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 5:21 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

"For the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord, And He ponders all his paths." (Proverbs 5:21 NKJV)

He assures us - He has our back covered. Even in our stubbornness, going our way apart from His path for us. During those 'near-misses' and 'brush-off with disasters' by His mercy He saved us. But we can't go on insisting to do our will against His. Yes, He gave us free will. And as He is just, He can't take it back to force His will on us.

But, there are grave consequences for doing things against His will and His commands. His way leads to life. Any other way leads to death. And, we cannot hide from God. He knows our every move. He even knows the desires of our heart. God thinks about (ponders) all the ways of man. In mercy He withholds immediate judgment, allowing those who sin time to repent. But, time is running out for man to be caught up in his own sin. It pains Him seeing where we're headed. 

So, let's surrender our will to Him and let His will be done. He is calling us to walk in His commandments with promises. It is written - "And I command you today: Love God, your God. Walk in his ways. Keep his commandments, regulations, and rules so that you will live, really live, live exuberantly, blessed by God, your God, in the land you are about to enter and possess. (Deuteronomy 30:16 MSG)


And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 5:19-20 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

"As a loving deer and a graceful doe, Let her breasts satisfy you at all times; And always be enraptured with her love. For why should you, my son, be enraptured by an immoral woman, And be embraced in the arms of a seductress?" (Proverbs 5:19, 20 NKJV)

Using the analogy of a loving deer and a graceful doe, He gives us a sideshow of a flaming youthful romance driven by burning love. A loving husband bewitched by his wife 'til death do us part'. Like the magnificent deer and doe, a beautiful sight in the eyes of God. He is watching! That's how marriage relationship is to be, as God designed for man and woman enthralled. Two become one! Hence, give no room for a seductress' embrace and lust for anyone else other than the love of your youth.

Marriage on earth foreshadows the Lamb's great marriage with the church in heaven. It is to be kept sacred and holy. And, to keep us ready as members of His body. It is written: "Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.” And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints. (Revelation 19:7, 8 NKJV)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 5:18 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

"Let your fountain be blessed, And rejoice with the wife of your youth." (Proverbs 5:18 NKJV)

He takes us back to His original plan in the beginning. When He instituted marriage in the garden, He blessed it as a monogamous relationship between a man and a woman. He reminds us these strongly that He even used a man with numerous concubines to write His reminder to us. Solomon must learn those relations he had were not blessed. Keeping God's plan blesses the wife and brings joy to the husband.

Scriptures exhort us with these words: "Nevertheless let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband." (Ephesians 5:33 NKJV)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 5:16-17 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

"Should your fountains be dispersed abroad, Streams of water in the streets? Let them be only your own, And not for strangers with you." (Proverbs 5:16, 17 NKJV)

Pose a rhetorical question with euphemisms of fountains... and streams, referring to God's gift of procreative capacity given to man, wasted in foolish promiscuity. 'Streams of water in the streets' is such graphic imagery of illegitimate offspring from adultery and tryst with harlotry. 

God's word through Solomon, tells us to stay at home. Enjoy the love of your life - God gave you. With her alone your offspring on earth shall be. Scripture says - "Live happily with the woman you love through all the meaningless days of life that God has given you under the sun. The wife God gives you is your reward for all your earthly toil." (Ecclesiastes 9:9 NLT)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 5:15 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

"Drink water from your own cistern, And running water from your own well." (Proverbs 5:15 NKJV)

He urged strengthening the bond of marriage to withstand against seductive tempter and resist the pull of lust. Adapting the imagery of the quenching power of water, the bliss of faithful marriage is protected from the disaster of infidelity, by drinking what belongs to you. 

Using the metaphor of cistern and well, representing one's wife, is from whom alone the husband must draw his joy of intimacy and affection. Scriptures exhort us with these words - "Let marriage be held in honor (esteemed worthy, precious, of great price, and especially dear) in all things. And thus let the marriage bed be undefiled (kept honored); for God will judge and punish the unchaste [all guilty of sexual vice] and adulterous. (Hebrews 13:4 AMP)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 5:13-14 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

"I have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, Nor inclined my ear to those who instructed me! I was on the verge of total ruin, In the midst of the assembly and congregation.” (Proverbs 5:13, 14 NKJV)

There's consequence to disobedience. It can be caused by knowingly rebelling against the teachings you have heard and learned; or. Heard but did not learn; or just plainly did not hear. Whatever reason, even just plainly ignorance - it excuses no one. One still has consequence to confront with. It could be public fall in a great crash. Or, perhaps just on a brink of humiliation. If that is so, it's time for a turnaround before it's too late. Don't wait until you fall.

There is eternal consequence to everything we do or fail to do - rightly or wrongly. Let's be excited in the ride of learning God's Word. It is written - "So then each of us will give an account of himself to God. (Romans 14:12 ESV)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 5:6-12 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

Lest you ponder her path of life— Her ways are unstable; You do not know them. Therefore hear me now, my children, And do not depart from the words of my mouth. Remove your way far from her, And do not go near the door of her house, Lest you give your honor to others, And your years to the cruel one; Lest aliens be filled with your wealth, And your labors go to the house of a foreigner; And you mourn at last, When your flesh and your body are consumed, And say: “How I have hated instruction, And my heart despised correction! (Proverbs 5:6-12 NKJV)

He seriously warns that allowing one's mind to consider a temptress' ways would be an act of surrender. God pleads us to hang on to His words and stand our ground. Use wise judgment. Never give an inch to the enemy. Stay clear of her path by staying in the way of The Lord. So, we won't lose the fruits of our labors to the undeserving. And, be filled with regrets when not only we stray from the path of life, but sustain long physical suffering, as well. That is not His plan for us. Let's embrace His precepts. He promised, as it is written: "Walk in obedience to all that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess. (Deuteronomy 5:33 NIV)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 5:1-5 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says.......

"My son, pay attention to my wisdom; Lend your ear to my understanding, That you may preserve discretion, And your lips may keep knowledge. For the lips of an immoral woman drip honey, And her mouth is smoother than oil; But in the end she is bitter as wormwood, Sharp as a two-edged sword. Her feet go down to death, Her steps lay hold of hell." (Proverbs 5:1-5 NKJV)

God reminds us to dig in His Words - the only source to guide us for right living - decisions in our moment to moment choices. Let's declare and allow the power of His Words take over the direction we go. To His reminder and His Word - from the heart let our lips declare - Yes!

He continues to call us for wisdom. Warning of the dangers of seductive temptress who intends to corrupt wise decisions. If we allow ourselves to be taken down her path, it leads to death. Her lips are full of flattery and smooth talking which are deceptive and destructive. Her ultimate mission is to lead us to hell with her. To overcome her, Lord Jesus gives us this command - "Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” (Matthew 26:41 NKJV)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 4:20-27 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says.......

"My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; keep them in the midst of your heart; For they are life to those who find them, and health to all their flesh. Keep your heart with all diligence, For our of it spring the issues of life. Put away from you a deceitful mouth, And put perverse lips far from you. Let your eyelids look right before you. Ponder the path of your feet, And let all your ways be established. Do not turn to the right or the left; Remove your foot from evil." (Proverbs 4:20-27 NKJV)

God reveals, He is all out in His best intentions for us. He gives us His Words to bring life to our living. He has what's best for us in His mind.

Our heart is like a soil. Whatever is sown in it grows. God wants us to guard it so only good seeds of His promise can get in. Whatever is grown in our heart determines our destiny. Let's speak His Word to our heart always. Guard it! It is written: "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." (Psalm 119:105 ESV)

And I say … AMEN!

Proverbs 4:19 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

"The way of the wicked is like darkness; They do not know what makes them stumble." (Proverbs 4:19 NKJV)

He warns us the contrast of righteous living. That is life of wickedness - going against wise instruction of God's word. That way is in total pitch-black darkness. Reminiscent of the three days of darkness that settled over all the land of Egypt -"darkness to be felt" and "they did not see one another".(Exodus 10:21-23 NKJV). 

Life in this kind of darkness, one cannot help oneself but stumble in ignorance and misery. That's how life is in the absence of light from The Word of wisdom. We need light to see the path we walk on and where we are going. We need our Lord Jesus Christ. He is our light.

It is written. - "Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12 ESV).

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 4:18 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...


"But the path of the just is like the shining sun, That shines ever brighter unto the perfect day." (Proverbs 4:18 NKJV)

He gives a very reassuring revelation. If we choose the path God laid for us, we see things better in our life clearly, like seeing the beauty of the sky and flowers around us in a clear day of spring. We begin to view and appreciate a new perspective of God's purpose for our life, which becomes clearer as we go deeper in our walk with Him. 

As the light of wisdom becomes brighter we see that what matters are those that lead and take us to the perfect day when we see The Lord in glory. In this present dimension of time and space, all we need is grace through faith in Christ our Lord. As believers, let's walk in the light of wisdom from His words.

He promised - "But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin. (I John 1:7 NKJV)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 4:14-17 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

"Do not enter the path of the wicked, And do not walk in the way of evil. Avoid it, do not travel on it; Turn away from it and pass on. For they do not sleep unless they have done evil; And their sleep is taken away unless they make someone fall. For they eat the bread of wickedness, And drink the wine of violence." (Proverbs 4:14-17 NKJV)

He strongly tells us NOT to enter the path of the wicked. They always lead to evil doings. Those who walk on their path are restless until they find a soul to trap. Yes, sin is best dealt with by avoiding any semblance of temptation. Their ways must be rejected. Their enticement must be resisted. They aim to kill and destroy. They are condemned and want to drag someone with them. Let's stay clear from them.

Scripture instructs us - "Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. (James 4:7 NKJV)


And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 4:13 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...


"Take firm hold of instruction, do not let go; Keep her, for she is your life." (Proverbs 4:13 NKJV)

We are commanded to cling on to instruction by wisdom of His words. She is our guide for living. Without her, life sails without direction – a come-what-may attitude. Like a ship lost at sea without an oar and rudder.

The most secure and powerful instruction to embrace for our life is from His words. It is written: "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. (II Timothy 3:16, 17 NKJV)


And I say, AMEN!
