When it goes well with
the righteous, the city rejoices; And when the wicked perish, there is
jubilation. By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted, But it is
overthrown by the mouth of the wicked. (Proverbs 11:10, 11 NKJV)
This reflects striking
difference between the impact of righteousness and wickedness on the community.
When the work of darkness infects the land, nuisance of crime plagues the
community like what's happening in our midst. There is fear. People are tense.
Pressure is strong. When the agents of wickedness are driven off, people take a
fresh breathe of air.
When the righteous
reigns a wave of positive change arrives. God's favors advance in their stage
of influence. The blessings of the righteous are contagious. Their prosperity
reverberates in the land. People are relieved from pressure. Fear is cast out.
Peace prevails. God is exalted.
As people of God, we are
called to be agents of favors and blessings. Lord Jesus declared these words -
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.
Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on
its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let
your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify
your Father in heaven. (Matthew 5:14-16 NIV)
And I say ... AMEN!
