When God Says …
“Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble Is like a bad tooth and a foot out of joint.” (Proverbs 25:19 NKJV)This passage puts forward a scenario of trusting an untrustworthy person in a dire situation. I suppose, nobody would, unless of course if one would want to cradle the pain of disappointment, like that of a throbbing bad tooth and an excruciating broken ankle or dislocated joint. Such a graphic description of a situation to be in!
There is only one truly faithful friend in whom we can put our trust – the Lord, our Savior Christ Jesus! We have the assurance of God's holy and written Words: He is a "very present help in trouble" (Psalms 46:1). The Psalmist declare: “When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up” (Psalms 27:10). “It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man” (Psalms 118:8). Lord Jesus said to the disciples: “ I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.” (John 15:15 NIV)
So, by faith in Christ Jesus, “Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16 ESV)
