The Gospel of John 5:45-47 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye trust. For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me. But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?” (John 5:45-47 KJV)

The Lord Jesus continues to engage the religious Jews, who are bent at believing in everything but the truth, to give light to their darkened mind. These group of so-called people of knowledge, specially being the supposedly custodians of God's promises, truly are a picture of today's religious but ungodly generation - who are quick to embrace anything of the pagan world than that of God.

These group of people claim that they follow and believe Moses, who wrote about the Lord Jesus Christ and point to His coming, but yet they don't believe in Him (who Moses wrote about) who had come in their midst. Yes, He's in their midst physically in the person of the Lord Jesus and in ours too in the person of the Holy Spirit. He is available for all the world to believe in and receive, in Christ Jesus's name! The risen Lord is now seated at the right hand of the Father advocating for us who received Him (1 John 2:1) and are born again (John 3:3). For those who do not believe, firstly the unbelieving Jews who claimed to follow Moses, will have Moses to accuse them to the Father, the Lord revealed. For all those who do not believe in these present age, they accuse and condemn themselves (John 3:18b). Those who believe are saved! (Acts 16:31).

The decision is ours to make and act on. It is written: “The Father loves the Son and has given all things into his hand. Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.” (John 3:35-36 ESV)

The Gospel of John 5:41-44 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“I receive not honour from men. But I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you. I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive. How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only?” (John 5:41-44 KJV)

People need motivation as a driving force to push them to their goals for living in this world. Often, many are driven by desire for honor and recognition. Even the apostles sought it as they jockeyed to be able to sit by the side of Jesus in His glory (Mark 10:37). That's humanity at its state of being sinful, with its craving for fame, human accolade and validation.

In these passages, the Lord Jesus begins to distance Himself from the need for man's affirmation. He said: ““I do not accept glory from human beings," (John 5:41 NIV). Which raise the question, who do you seek glory from? From men or from God? Unlike many of the religious leaders, then and now, who pander each other, seek glory from men and reject God. The Lord Jesus in His human form, wasn't driven by the desire for human approval or recognition. His purpose is rooted in divine will, not human edification. Ours should be too.

The Lord lamented over the religious people's piety and knowledge, yet lacked the very essence of knowing God. Many, then and now, fail to see the depth of God's love. God sent His only begotten Son, Christ Jesus our Lord, for He so loved us, the world (John 3:16). We are to seek honor and glory from God alone by letting Him love us. It is our life's purpose, in this post-resurrection season of His dispensation of grace, to let Him love us by totally surrendering to His saving grace (Ephesians 2:8).

In Christ, by faith, we have this assurance: “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? ... For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:35, 38-39 ESV)

The Gospel of John 5:39-40 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.” (John 5:39-40 KJV).

The Lord Jesus Christ continues to address the religious Jews' stubborn unbelief. He directed them to search the scriptures, which they'd been doing thinking that they gain the hope for eternal life. Yet, in spite, they refuse to come to Jesus to possess it. The Scriptures are the most important treasure to hold in this realm of living, as these bear witness of Him our Lord Jesus Christ. We are made aware that all, heaven and earth, shall pass away, but God's Words shall remain (Matthew 24:35). The Scriptures, God's Words, point to the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the Key to unlock, understand and receive the truth of God's message for us. The Lord Jesus Christ is God's message for us. He is the Word who became flesh! (John 1:14).

Only through Him we can gain eternal life. There is no other way. Definitely, not religion which is used by the enemy of our soul to keep many away from God, like the religious Jews that persecuted the Lord. All other ways lead to destruction and hell (John 3:16; 36). The Lord Jesus Christ is our Only way to life in this realm and to everlasting life - the life that has no end. That's the life of eternal bless and bliss. The Lord Jesus Christ, the Word who became flesh, lived amongst us, the Emmanuel (Matthew 2:23). He died and rose from the dead (Luke 24:46). And now, He lives in us (Galatians 2:20) as we put our faith in Him. It is written, the scriptures declared: “And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”” (Acts 4:12 ESV).

The Gospel of John 5:36-38 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“But I have greater witness than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me. And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape. And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not.” (John 5:36-38 KJV)

The religious Jews are so adamant on strict compliance of their law requiring two witnesses to affirm validity of the Lord's claim of being equal with God. We should note that the law they were following was given for rebellious unbelieving people. The law was not intended for people of faith in the Lord Jehovah, the I AM. The Lord Jesus, who came to fulfill the law, satisfied this requirement for them, in order for them and others who are outside of faith, to see the truth and be saved. In addition to John the Baptist's human testimony, He declared and called on a greater witness than John, which are the works that the Father has given Him to accomplish. There are no greater witness by man than the works that He was doing, which were the fulfillment of prophecies by the prophets and the writings revealed from the foundation of the world.

The Words of God through the Holy Scriptures, manifest that the Lord Jesus Christ was appointed before the foundation of the earth. But, these Jews whose minds and spiritual eyes are darkened by religion, like many of today's religious people, didn't hear His Words. They say they read the writings of Moses and the prophets, whom God used to reveal His Words with the guidance of His Spirit, but the Lord exposed them: "And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not.” (John 5:38).

Sans religion, if truly they and everyone just only hear, listen, believe and depend in God's Holy and Written Words, then we shall all see the truth that sets us free. They, the religious and the unbelieving world only need to believe in the Son of God, be born again and become like us who are called children of the Most High God. In Genesis 3:15, God declared that the offspring of the woman will crush the head of the serpent that deceived Eve. This is pointing to the Lord Jesus Christ who brings eternal defeat to the devil and save mankind from their sin.

Apostle Peter affirmed of the Lord Jesus Christ that: “He was foreknown before the foundation of the world but was made manifest in the last times for the sake of you who through him are believers in God, who raised him from the dead and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.” (1 Peter 1:20-21 ESV)

The Gospel of John 5:34-35 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“But I receive not testimony from man: but these things I say, that ye might be saved. He was a burning and a shining light: and ye were willing for a season to rejoice in his light.” (John 5:34-35 KJV)

Whether anyone believes it or not, what the Lord Jesus claimed Him to be does not change, truth is truth. He is the only begotten Son of God full of grace truth. Out of His love, though He didn't need any man's testimony, the Lord got along with the Jews' quest to satisfy their demand for a human testimony that they may believe and be saved. The Lord reminded them of John the Baptist. When they interrogated John the Baptist, he pointed them to the Lord Jesus Christ who is the Promised One (John 1:26-27).

Yes, the Lord Jesus Christ provided the unbelieving skeptics with a human witness that they may come to receive salvation of their souls. John the Baptist was the human witness sent from the Father to make the path straight for the coming Messiah. He was the voice in the wilderness to prepare the way of the Lord (Matthew 3:3). Many of them came to be baptized by him. “But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to his baptism, he said to them, “You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?” (Matthew 3:7 ESV)

John the Baptist declared to those who came to his baptism: “I baptize you with water for repentance, but he who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor and gather his wheat into the barn, but the chaff he will burn with unquenchable fire.”(Matthew 3:11-12 ESV)

The Gospel of John 5:31-33 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true. There is another that beareth witness of me; and I know that the witness which he witnesseth of me is true. Ye sent unto John, and he bear witness unto the truth.” (John 5:31-33 KJV)

In these passages, we can understand the inquisition of the religious Jews of that time. And, at the same time, we can also question their blindness and unbelief. However, in their vantage point, having been indoctrinated by their religion, even any sane person may also be skeptical about the claims made, like the Lord did. Even in this day and age, there are many who are held captive by their religions, who are blinded too. Yet, we already have the fullness of truth written for us to reflect on about the sacrificial salvation that the Lord Jesus did for us. But many still cling to their religious beliefs or utter unbelief, instead of believing and receiving the Lord Jesus Christ who saved them by grace through faith.

Aligning to their mindset and human perspective, the Lord agreed with them that if Him alone bear witness for Himself, His witness is not true. Though His claim is true and affirmed by the prophecies fulfilled through Him, as well as the miracles He performed, He directed them to John the Baptist, another man who bear witness about Him. And they have already gone to question John the Baptist, who witnessed to them the truth about the Lamb of God, who is the Lord Jesus Christ.

John the Baptist testified, as it is written: “The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! This is he of whom I said, ‘After me comes a man who ranks before me, because he was before me.’ I myself did not know him, but for this purpose I came baptizing with water, that he might be revealed to Israel.” And John bore witness: “I saw the Spirit descend from heaven like a dove, and it remained on him. I myself did not know him, but he who sent me to baptize with water said to me, ‘He on whom you see the Spirit descend and remain, this is he who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’ And I have seen and have borne witness that this is the Son of God.”” (John 1:29-34 ESV)

The Gospel of John 5:30 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.” (John 5:30 KJV)

The Lord Jesus Christ, continues to address the religious priests who are bent on persecuting Him due to fear of losing their stranglehold on the people they took advantage of. Aligning to their line of human thinking, He said to them that His own testimony about Him is sufficient. If only on account of what He said, it is of no value. But, what He says of Him are affirmed by the signs He performed that are of heaven and were prophesied. He reminded them and many unbelieving people of this age, that He Himself does none of His own will. The healing miracles He did are manifestations of heavenly power for all to see and believe, for He only carry out the order of the Father who sent Him.

What He does is what He hears from the Father. His judgement is righteous because He does it by the Father's mandate. When the Lord healed people from their illness on a sabbath day which the law declared holy, He, who follows the Father's will, demonstrated that grace is superior than the law. Grace supplies the demands of the law that no man other than Him can fulfill. It is the will of the Father for us to rest in His grace by faith in Christ Jesus.

Apostle Paul reminds: “Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, to make you obey its passions. Do not present your members to sin as instruments for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness. For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.” (Romans 6:12-14 ESV)

The Gospel of John 5:28-29 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, and shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.” (John 5:28-29 KJV)

Here's a pop up alert - 'don't be astonished by it'! We all, including those in the graves, will be called forth to be resurrected! (That is being in a new body of flesh and bones that never die). These passages give us a glimpse of the two choices of eternal destinations for all mankind. Resurrection to a new life for those who are good, or resurrection to damnation for those who are evil.

He who is good is one who does the work that God requires by believing on the Son of God, Christ Jesus our Lord . When asked, “What must we do to do the works God requires?” “Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.”” (John 6:28-29 NIV)

Having 'done evil' is trusting in effort of work by the law and not believing in the Son of God, who came full of grace and truth. It is written: “Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.” (John 3:18 ESV)

The Gospel of John 5:25-27 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live. For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself; and hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.” (John 5:25-27 KJV)

These passages remind us that this hour, this moment right now, the Lord Jesus is telling you and I that as we hear these Words He speaks in His holy and written Words, we shall live. Both the Father and the Son have life from within. The Father imparted life to Adam as He breath into his nostrils (Genesis 2:7). There is life in the words that emanate from the mouth of the Son. He is the source of life that endures forever. His Words are alive! (Hebrews 4:12). As we let His Words speak to us and we listen and believe, we who were once dead in sin are quickened to life and we shall live walking by faith, not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7).

The Lord Jesus being fully God, who is the Son of God and fully man, being the Son of Man, has the 'authority to execute judgement' to all humanity. He experience and live in human form subjected to the same challenges we have in a hostile world. “Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.” (Hebrews 2:18 NIV). He overcame the world. He lived undefiled by the filthiness of the world. Judgement is in His power to dispense.

Hence, as we receive Him and let Him live in us, we become His temple by faith, we have this assurance: “Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. By this is love perfected with us, so that we may have confidence for the day of judgment, because as he is so also are we in this world.” (1 John 4:15-17 ESV)

The Gospel of John 5:24 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.” (John 5:24 KJV)

The Lord Jesus Christ emphasizes this statement powerfully saying: verily, verily, which translate as Amen or truly, to drive in the utmost importance of this first-hand information direct from His mouth. This lets us know that this truth is absolute, a personal knowledge of fact, not taught to Him or learned from anyone. This is truth coming from Him who is the person of grace and truth.

We're given the revelation in verse 23 that those who believe and accept the Lord Jesus Christ, accept the Father and eternal life. Rejecting Him is rejecting the Father and rejecting life. It is a choice to be condemned and to be judged (John 3.36). The Lord judges all things. He has the power over life or death.

The moment we receive Him, our life is transformed right at the instant. We step into eternal life. Scriptures say: "This person has taken a giant step from the world of the dead to the world of the living." (John 5:24b MSG). The journey to eternity begins.

Apostle John, the disciple that Jesus loved, further reminds that: “For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.” (1 John 5:4-5, 11-12 ESV)

The Gospel of John 5:22-23 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son: that all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.” (John 5:22-23 KJV)

In these verses the Lord Jesus declares to have the power of divine judgment given by the Father. Being God, who created all things (John 1:3), He has the sovereign right to judge all things (Genesis 18:25; Psalms 96:13).

We are called to honor Him the only begotten Son of God, Christ Jesus our Lord, by believing. Only in Him we are saved and have life as we believe. Unbelief is condemnation and judgment, as it is written: ““For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil.” (John 3:16-19 ESV)

The Gospel of John 5:21 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will.” (John 5:21 KJV).

As the Father raised from the dead, through Elijah, the Zerephath widow's son (1 King 17:22) and through Elisha, the Shunammite's son (2 Kings 4:32-35), the Lord Jesus raised from the dead whom 'He will'. Filled with compassion, He raised to life the widow's son at Nain (Luke 7:11-14). And Lazarus, whose family He loved, He raised from death to life after four days in the tomb (John 11:43-44).

The fact is, we were once dead in sin. But, He raised us all from death to life, as we too came to the proximity of His grace. He raises from sin to life whom He wills, by His grace through believing in Him. Yes, He wills it that we are made alive by faith (Ephesians 2:4-5). The risen Lord revealed to Apostle Paul: "And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus." (Ephesians 2:6-7 NIV).

Let us, therefore, come to Him with trust, and rest in His will. And, as we already came, we are now transformed by His grace through faith. We have been born again, in Him. Hence, Apostle Paul exhorts us with these comforting words: “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. Do not quench the Spirit. Do not despise prophecies, but test everything; hold fast what is good. Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-21, 23 ESV)

The Gospel of John 5:19-20 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise. For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel.” (John 5:19-20 KJV)

The Lord responded to the demands of the religious Jews to tell them who he was and where He's from. He showed them some signs about His identity. He revealed His equality with God and that He is God! He said it with emphasis repeating the word AMEN or Verily or Truly! In that day, using these words is to say that what is said is the truth beyond any trace of lie! The Lord made it clear that what He said is first-hand information from the Father in heaven. It is a direct witness account from His mouth, the Son whom God the Father sent.

He literally says that what He does is what the Father does as He sees it. For the Father loves the Son, He and the Father are in complete unison. What they (the religious Jews), you and I see He is doing is exactly what the Father does! His statement is evidenced by the mighty works He has already started doing, which of course they failed or refused to see and appreciate. They're blinded by the warped doctrines of their religion.

The Lord Jesus declared to them that the relationship between Him, the Son and God, the Father, is one of perfect oneness. He gave them a heads up that greater works of miracles are coming for them who believes. That's an alert for us too, specially those who are blindfolded by all types of deviant doctrines of religion and precepts of the world, like these religious people that the Lord was confronted by. Let's all beware of the established enterprises, the so-religious groups and institutions that even bear the name of Christ but are not by Christ Jesus and His Words. They perpetuate, the religion of those Jews, in our present age. The Lord Jesus said these of them for us to be warned today: ““But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut the kingdom of heaven in people’s faces. For you neither enter yourselves nor allow those who would enter to go in. Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel across sea and land to make a single proselyte, and when he becomes a proselyte, you make him twice as much a child of hell as yourselves.” (Matthew 23:13, 15 ESV)

The Gospel of John 5:16-18 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, and sought to slay him, because he had done these things on the sabbath day. But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work. Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.” (John 5:16-18 KJV)

In these passages, we see the religious Jews hotly pursuing to persecute and seeking to kill the Lord Jesus Christ, not only for performing signs affirming who He is. They accuse Him of blasphemy for revealing that He is God! No one even took a slight notice of the miracle that has taken place, a supernatural work of God. He healed an ungrateful lame, instantly! He's the man, who these Jews have seen, languishing for quite a long while by the pool near the sheep market. Instead, they noticed the sleeping mat that the man carried as he walked, which they considered a 'work' that shouldn't be done on a Sabbath. The same accusation they cast on the Lord for performing a 'work' of miracle on a sabbath, a sin against their law.  Such a stunning display of hypocrisy these religious leaders have. It's beyond human perception, the magnitude of their blindness. They allow the eye patches of religion to keep them in the dark. They are focused on physical rest, instead of interring the spiritual rest in grace by faith Christ Jesus.

Yes, they accused the Lord of disobeying their law on Sabbath rest which they observed by self-effort of showmanship, but failed. No one did (Romans 3:23). But, the Lord Jesus came by supplying with grace for inner righteousness the demands of the law through faith and with the power of the Holy Spirit. He, who being in every nature God, made Himself nothing, He humbled himself by becoming obedient to death (Philippians 2:6-8), He alone can fulfill the law, as He affirmed: “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.” (Matthew 5:17 NIV)

The signs manifest, with the miracles that's been displayed, affirm that the only begotten Son of God is come in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ. We enter the true rest by faith in Him, as it is written: “God’s promise of entering his rest still stands, so we ought to tremble with fear that some of you might fail to experience it. For this good news—that God has prepared this rest—has been announced to us just as it was to them. But it did them no good because they didn’t share the faith of those who listened to God. For only we who believe can enter his rest.” (Hebrews 4:1-3a NLT)

The Gospel of John 5:12-15 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“Then asked they him, What man is that which said unto thee, Take up thy bed, and walk? And he that was healed wist not who it was: for Jesus had conveyed himself away, a multitude being in that place. Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee. The man departed, and told the Jews that it was Jesus, which had made him whole.” (John 5:12-15 KJV)

One can't help but wonder the amazing scenario that just transpired. Here is a man who languished in his disability for almost four decades. He's been in wait, along with others, to dip in a pool for hope of healing but could not. He's hindered by his ailment and, as he stated: "I have no one to put me into the pool." It's a wonder how he got in there in the first place? And, why he, who brought him there, did not help him get to the pool when it stirs? And, now after a long wait and thirty eight years of suffering, he is healed, up and walking with his bed. Instead of being grateful, he flaunted himself to the religious leaders of the time. He did not even bother to find out who healed him. Hence, he couldn't answer when asked: who was he? The Lord Jesus actually slipped quickly and disappeared into the crowd of multitudes. This man is one of the most ungrateful recipient of grace, who was healed by the Lord Jesus Christ. He has contracted some kind of paralysis-syndrome. He has adapted to his long life of suffering, numb and ungrateful to the sudden change of fortune.

However, the Lord Jesus happened to him again a bit later at the temple. And, He said to the newly healed man a revealing cautionary statement: “Now you are well; so stop sinning, or something even worse may happen to you.” (John 5:14 NLT). This revealed that the man's disability may have been due to sinful lifestyle. Which, we can relate to present day influx of habit borne illnesses plaguing the world. And, sinful habits are not only affecting the physical health. The Lord warned the man of something worse that can happen alluding to the fate of one's soul, eternally.

When the once crippled man learned who healed him, un-mindful of the warning given him, he rushed to tell the religious Jews who interrogated him that it was the Lord Jesus Christ. Whatever this man's motive is, only him and God knows. We can only infer, this man is truly a man devoid of the sense of decency to appreciate his newly found physical wholeness. This is such a profound reminder for us all, as God's beloved, save by His grace through faith in Christ Jesus. We are given a new life, reborn from a life dead in sin, now made alive through His death and resurrection. So, “Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise! For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods.” (Psalm 95:2-3 ESV)

The Gospel of John 5:9-11 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath. The Jews therefore said unto him that was cured, It is the sabbath day: it is not lawful for thee to carry thy bed. He answered them, He that made me whole, the same said unto me, Take up thy bed, and walk.” (John 5:9-11 KJV)

It is amazing how religious doctrines can totally blind people from seeing manifestation of great work of signs and wonders. Choosing this man to be healed instantly, considering that this man did not sound passionate enough to be healed when the Lord asked if he wants to be made well, is meant to give the religious Jews the sign they sought. And, by their response it seems to indicate the Lord intentionally did it on a Sabbath to provoke their fanatical attitude. Instead of being awed by this man's healing, they took issue on why this man, who's been lame for almost four decades, is carrying his mat on a Sabbath day.

These religious people were blinded by their legalistic zeal on their doctrine about the Sabbath. They failed to see a supernatural healing that just happened before their very eyes. And, the lame man fearful of having transgressed their Sabbath law, explained that he just followed as ordered, by highlighting - "He that made me whole" told me so. This line of questioning by the Jews' religious leadership totally disregarded the sign they've demanded (Matthew 12:38; 16:1) that they just witnessed.

The sign is clear as per prophesied and attested by its fulfillment. But the religious Jews were obviously offended. On the same way that the present day religions, who bears the name of Christ Jesus, take offense at the truth of His holy and written Words. The Lord Jesus affirmed to John the Baptist: “Now when John heard in prison about the deeds of the Christ, he sent word by his disciples and said to him, “Are you the one who is to come, or shall we look for another?” And Jesus answered them, “Go and tell John what you hear and see: the blind receive their sight and the lame walk, lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear, and the dead are raised up, and the poor have good news preached to them. And blessed is the one who is not offended by me.”” (Matthew 11:2-6 ESV)

The Gospel of John 5:7-9 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me. Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk. And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.” (John 5:7-9 KJV)

Held captive by his circumstance, the disabled man bewailed the reason he thought hindered him to regain his wholeness, in response to the Lord's question - "Do you want to get well?" This man is a reflection of many of us in this world. We always find reasons for failing to be in a place we want to be. We blame our past, our roots, our present and the perceived lack of help. We blame the government. And, some even blame their God, whoever that might be? Instead of looking up to better horizons, we have the tendency to look down at the impediments we face - real or imagined.

Yes, there may be Goliaths and mountains of challenges before us, but we should not focus our attention to it. Those are mere instruments toning our faith to get stronger. We are to look past over it to the promises of our TRUE GOD, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob who sent His only begotten Son. He'll guide us. We'll clear through all the clatters that hinder us from our destiny. The Psalmist affirms: “he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.” (Psalms 23:3 NIV)

So, if anyone is feeling helpless in this world, like this impotent disabled man held captive by his bed of hindrances, the Lord is telling you: Get up, pick your bed up and walk! Having entered His rest through grace by faith (Hebrews 4:1), we should keep this in our heart. It is written: “Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” (1 John 4:4 ESV)

The Gospel of John 5:1-6 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“After this there was a feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches. In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water. For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had. And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years. When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?” (John 5:1-6 KJV)

These passages show us of a man who was ill for thirty-eight years. He's been waiting along with many, who suffered from many types of ailments, for the opportunity to be healed by stepping first in a pool called Bethesda (meaning the house of mercy or the flowing water) when the water stirs. By tradition, whoever steps first would be made whole. Thirty-eight years of this man's sufferings brought to note the years spent by the Israelites in the wilderness as punishment for their disobedience and unbelief. It took them long to enter the promised land, which was only a three weeks walk from Egypt (Deuteronomy 2:14).

This man represents many of us in this world. Due to unbelief many take time to ask. They choose to wander and wallow in their kind of limbo, a wilderness full of complaints and murmurs which hinder their entry to the promise land of blessings, healing and wholeness. But the Lord who is full of grace, out of His love came. The sheep gate has 'five' (which is the number of grace) porches. Grace, in the person of Christ Jesus, came through the gate of grace. As He saw this man in need, He saw us all too, in our state of need. He came with the abundant supply of His grace, as He did with this man, He is asking us, "Do you want to get well?" (John 5:6b NIV) With that, He assures us in His Words: ““Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.” (Matthew 7:7-8 ESV)

And I say, AMEN!

PFC Ministries: Reaffirmation Statement of Faith

Dear Brethren, Partners, Servants and Fellow Children of the Most High God,

Let me share with you ALL these revelations for your reflection to ensure we are on the same page, standing on the same Rock of faith, as with Apostle Paul and other Apostles in regard with the true Gospel of grace in the finished work of our Lord Jesus Christ. Please, seriously meditate on these with prayers and with a clean heart, guided by the Holy Spirit. Don't just read these! Let these scriptures speak to you!

We study these passages through the lens of grace with the Holy Spirit teaching us by faith in the finished sacrificial work of our Lord Jesus Christ on the cross. We ensure we stand on the right side of the cross, that is to say we must recognize, we now are under God’s dispensation of grace and not under the law.

We must ALL be set free from the bondage of religion that has been perpetuated by many, even by those who are bearing the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, from the religious Jews that persecuted the Lord. All templates and vestiges of religion must not be allowed to encroach in our intimate relationship with the Lord as members of His body - His Church. His body, His Church, His bride is not an enterprise of institutions, organizations nor a building. His body, His church and His bride are us, you and I. He resides in us! We are His temple! (1 Corinthians 6:19). He does not reside in temples made by human hands (Acts 17:24-25). No matter how elegant and imposing structures those are in our human view. Those are all passing away. Those are deceptive tools of the enemy of our soul to keep us away from the truth.

Now, we look to our Lord Jesus Christ in faith. He is the I AM who appeared to Moses, the Light (John 8:12; Genesis 1:3). He is the person of grace and truth. We don’t look to the law in our walk in this life. The law is so holy and perfect given at Mt Sinai to make the rebellious Israelites realize that they needed a savior. Apostle Paul said, it is "the ministry of death, carved in letters on stone" (2 Corinthians 3:7). The Lord Jesus already fulfilled the law. We don’t attempt to do it again (Galatians 2:21). We can’t (Romans 3:23; Isaiah 64:6). The reason He came because it is impossible for us to fulfill the requirement of the law. He came to satisfy the demands of the law with the supply of His grace. We put our faith in Him so His righteousness is imputed in us to make us righteous in God’s eyes (2 Corinthians 5:21).

For a start, please study and reflect on these verses with the teaching of the Holy Spirit and be aligned with the true Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Definitely, not the creed of religion!

Through Moses-The Law & Through Jesus Christ-Grace & Truth, that is-Work of Self-effort vs Work of God’s Grace. We rest in grace. “And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace. For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth CAME by Jesus Christ.” (John‬ ‭1:16-17‬ ‭KJV‬‬)

As believers in Jesus, we are under the covenant of grace - the new covenant in His blood.

“When God speaks of a “new” covenant, it means he has made the first one obsolete. It is now out of date and will soon disappear.” (‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭8:13‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

The New Covenant was set into motion by the shed blood of Christ Jesus on the cross. The law was already done with! Grace came to life, as He rose from the grave and now seated at the right hand of the Father.

“And he said to them, “This is my blood, which confirms the covenant between God and his people. It is poured out as a sacrifice for many.” (‭‭Mark‬ ‭14:24‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

“For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.” (Romans‬ ‭6:14‬ ‭KJV‬‬). We must be warned that: "The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law" (1 Corinthians 15:56 KJV).

We are not under the old covenant of the law. The law was fulfilled by the Lord Jesus Christ on the cross.

Apostle Paul wrote:
“Abraham was, humanly speaking, the founder of our Jewish nation. What did he discover about being made right with God?” (Romans‬ ‭4:1‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

Grace made Abraham right with God, by believing. There was no Law, which is performance in self effort! The law was given hundreds of years later to his rebellious descendants. The law are intended for rebellious and faithless people, not for the child of the Most High God who are born again by faith in Christ Jesus.

God’s way was and IS grace! By believing! Referring to Abraham, Apostle Paul wrote -
“If his good deeds had made him acceptable to God, he would have had something to boast about. But that was not God’s way.” (Romans‬ ‭4:2‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

Abraham believed and was made righteous!
“For the Scriptures tell us, “Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous because of his faith.”” (Romans‬ ‭4:3‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

Work is paid, as a debt and as wages. Not gift, Not grace!
“Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.” (Romans‬ ‭4:4‬ ‭KJV‬‬)

We are Made righteous by believing in Jesus, not by work.
“But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.” (Romans‬ ‭4:5‬ ‭KJV‬‬)

Righteousness is imputed through faith in Jesus. Not by work of self effort. “Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,” (Romans‬ ‭4:6‬ ‭KJV‬‬)

The Old Testament is the shadow of the reality of  the Lord Jesus. Scriptures show us that none were made righteous by the Law. When the law was given 3,000 died (Exodus 32:28). When grace was dispensed through the power of the Holy Spirit at the Pentecost, about 3000 souls were saved (Acts 2:41).

Performance of the law is cursed.
“So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham. For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.” (Galatians‬ ‭3:9-10‬ ‭KJV‬‬)

The law is the ministry of death, grace is life.
“But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away: how shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious?” (2 Corinthians‬ ‭3:7-8‬ ‭KJV‬‬)

No one is justified by the law.
“knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.” (Galatians‬ ‭2:16‬ ‭KJV‬‬)

Under the grace of God by faith in Christ Jesus we are to learn how to rest in His finished work on the cross. Now we are to labor and work hard to enter into that rest in His grace.

“For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.” (Hebrews‬ ‭4:10-11‬ ‭KJV‬‬)

We are to be mindful that if it is Work-self effort-then not anymore grace! If ever we work, we Work instead to rest!

“And if by grace, then it cannot be based on works; if it were, grace would no longer be grace.” (Romans‬ ‭11:6‬ ‭NIV‬‬)

The only work God expects from us is Believing in Him, as the Lord Jesus Christ declared -
“They replied, “We want to perform God’s works, too. What should we do?” Jesus told them, “This is the only work God wants from you: Believe in the one he has sent.”” (John‬ ‭6:28-29‬ ‭NLT‬‬)

Please reflect upon these verses in the Presence of the Holy Spirit to help us understand in oneness of faith and spirit. Ensure not to be deceived by denominational doctrines and religions designs. We always come to the fountain of His holy and written Words with empty cup (that’s our heart) ready to be filled by the purity of God’s revelation of truth.

It is my prayer that the Gospel of Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ is sown in the hearts of us all, our loved ones, our fellow brethren and every kindred and nation we encounter.

'Have them and us postured in right believing, to receive God’s abounding blessings through the finished work of our Lord Jesus Christ for - “as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue,”‭‭ (lI Peter‬ ‭1:3‬ ‭NKJV‬‬)

I trust that this is the gospel that we are holding on to in our hearts and are delivering to the souls in our mission field. And, not any other gospel that Apostle Paul warned -
“But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.” (Galatians‬ ‭1:8-9‬ ‭KJV)‬‬

We and many in our proximity and the world have been shackled by religion and creed of the world for so long. We are to deliver the Gospel of the Grace of God, to have that intimate relationship with Jesus by faith. Let our our ministry and mission be as Apostle Paul testified - “But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.” (‭‭Acts‬ ‭20:24‬ ‭KJV‬‬)

As for us here in the USA, we’ve been so occupied with many things, local challenges to take care of as with everyone in the world. But, The Lord is good and His grace is sufficient for us. We rest in His grace.

We must now in this post-resurrection time of God’s dispensation of grace through the finished work of our Lord Jesus Christ, look through the lens of grace His holy and written Words.

May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ shield you all, securely. And, foremost, May God’s wisdom through the Holy Spirit guide you all, always!

Lovingly in Christ Jesus✝️AMEN🙏

The Gospel of John 4:52-54 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“Then enquired he of them the hour when he began to amend. And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him. So the father knew that it was at the same hour, in the which Jesus said unto him, Thy son liveth: and himself believed, and his whole house. This is again the second miracle that Jesus did, when he was come out of Judæa into Galilee.” (John 4:52-54 KJV)

These passages clearly demonstrate that we have a God who answers our prayers before we even know it. The truth of the matter is, in this post-resurrection time we are in, all the answers to our prayers are already done and provided for by the finished work on the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. All that we need are already made available through the sufficiency of His grace (2 Corinthians 12:9). The key to receive it, is our declaration of faith, with thanksgiving, in Christ Jesus. In Him, we have what we need by His grace. In this post-resurrection era of our Father's dispensation of grace by faith in Christ Jesus, we do not anymore come to God to ask Him to do for us or to give us any thing. He has already done and given all things (2 Peter 1:3). We come to receive by His grace with thanksgiving through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ! (Mark 11:24)

Yes, that's faith, just like this nobleman, and in another instance like that of a gentile centurion who came to the Lord in Capernaum to seek healing for his servant. When the Lord said to him, shall I come and heal him? Conscious of his being a gentile, “The centurion replied, “Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed.” (Matthew 8:8 NIV).

With the nobleman's faith, in these passages, his son was healed exactly the same moment the Lord said the words, "Go, your son will live." Confirmed by his servants, he knew the exact hour. By God's grace in Christ Jesus, his son lives, he and his household - they all believed. As for the centurion of Capernaum in Galilee, a gentile just like us who believed, by his declaration of faith, the Lord affirms. “When Jesus heard this, he marveled and said to those who followed him, “Truly, I tell you, with no one in Israel have I found such faith. And to the centurion Jesus said, “Go; let it be done for you as you have believed.” And the servant was healed at that very moment.” (Matthew 8:10, 13 ESV)

The Gospel of John 4:50-51 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way. And as he was now going down, his servants met him, and told him, saying, Thy son liveth.” (John 4:50-51 KJV)

"Your son lives!" This is such a very comforting declaration, from the mouth of the One who is the giver of life. For a person in a deep state of desperation, these words must be a great relief. Running out of options, coming to the Lord Jesus to plead, certainly was a last-ditch effort for this nobleman to save his son. And, he did the right thing by faith, believing what the Lord Jesus said to him.

This miracle is one of the many healing miracles the Lord Jesus performed here in Capernaum. This is the work of grace by the person of grace who is Jesus. He is full of grace. “From his abundance we have all received one gracious blessing after another.” (John 1:16 NLT)

This man, is one of the many examples of sinners who came to the Lord to seek healing. Like many others, He did not come performing religious rituals of confessions seeking forgiveness, neither he came like the religious people in a holier than thou attitude. He came as he was, a sinner recognizing he needed a savior to help him in his time of need.

He is a mirror for us to see who we are and do the same, totally dependent in the grace of God. Like him, a sinner, when one comes to the Lord believing, he receives healing. Now, as He, the risen Lord is alive, we have the assurance. As He did, during His time in the flesh, we are assured, as it is written: “And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction.” (Matthew 9:35 ESV)

The Gospel of John 4:49 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“The nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down ere my child die.” (John 4:49 KJV)

Here is a pleading of a man who for sure has already exhausted all that he thought can be done by human effort. Though no mention is made about it, before he came to the Lord, one would surmise this royal personality may have already summoned all the medical experts that served his household. And, of course, they were unable to arrest his son's ailment from deteriorating. [All healing is from God!] But sadly, that's the way human mindset always do, they go for their natural options and resources first whenever issues of life come up and as it worsens only then they turn to God, as a last resort.

This man is no different from many in the world. Yet, as we can see, when one turns to God, as always, this man found the Lord. And as he puts his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, not as a perfect man, but as a sinner, God hears. God loves us all to come to Him, as we are. Not as if we are good and qualified. No one is. Anyone who comes to God through Christ Jesus, un-presumptive and pleading, “Lord, please come now before my little boy dies.” (John 4:49b NLT), God gives His full attention. So, we must not forget to come to Him First, "and all these things shall be added unto you" (Matthew 6:33b). His open invitation to come to Him stands. He is calling us all: “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28 ESV)

And I say, AMEN!

The Gospel of John 4:46-48 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum. When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judæa into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that he would come down, and heal his son: for he was at the point of death. Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.” (John 4:46-48 KJV)

The Lord Jesus left Jerusalem to keep from wasting time having useless confrontation with the unbelieving religious characters, to return to Galilee. He took the way through Samaria, which the Jews normally avoid, and stayed two days in Sychar. Many Samaritans received Him and His message, by the invitation of the outcast woman - the first reported bearer of the Lord's gospel of grace, who brought others to believe and receive the Lord Jesus Christ.

Then, He passed through Cana where He performed the first miracle of turning water to wine at a wedding. There, He met a royal official from Capernaum whose son was sick. The man came to seek healing from the Lord. Interestingly, how this man knew of His presence in the area and who this man really is, in the first place, is not specified in these texts, other than being a nobleman. But, this man came with the expectation of healing for his son's dire condition. As a last ditch effort, this man came to plead with the Lord.

In response, the Lord tried to put him off, as He said to him and the crowd: "you people want signs and miracles, but your hearts are full of unbelief". With this statement, He sets a spiritual challenge to this man and us too, so we don't become like the religious people that the Scriptures warn us of due to their unbelief. In one of the Lord's interaction with them, it is written: “And the Pharisees and Sadducees came, and to test him they asked him to show them a sign from heaven. He answered them, ... An evil and adulterous generation seeks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah.” So he left them and departed.” (Matthew 16:1-2a; 4 ESV)

The Gospel of John 4:43-45 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“Now after two days he departed thence, and went into Galilee. For Jesus himself testified, that a prophet hath no honour in his own country. Then when he was come into Galilee, the Galilæans received him, having seen all the things that he did at Jerusalem at the feast: for they also went unto the feast.” (John 4:43-45 KJV)

The Lord's sojourn in the Samaritan city of Sychar was a purposeful route taken by the Lord set to satisfy the thirst of the Samaritans' souls. As many believed and received the saving grace of the Lord during His two days communing with them, affirm that passing the unusual way through Samaria instead of His hometown Nazareth on the way to the other side of Galilee, was the Father's will. The folks in Nazareth, in contrast to the Samaritans who were expecting Him, were not receptive of His message. The Nazarenes looked at Him with much familiarity.

Yes, the Lord returned from His mission in Samaria on the way from Jerusalem, where many from Galilee saw the great things He did at the feast. The region of Galilee is where his home town of Nazareth is. But, He by-passed it and went back to the village of Cana where He did His first miracle turning water to wine. His family and friends who He grew up with in Nazareth, didn't have much interest for His message, so He instead went on to surrounding cities and villages.

These words are for our reminder, the Lord was rejected by many even in His own town and household. We should not be dismayed if we too are treated the same by the people we know because of the Lord's name and Words that we share. That's the nature of this world. As children of God, born again by faith in Christ Jesus, we will be hated by many, as the Lord was (John 15:18).

The Lord Jesus went around the cities and villages called the Decapolis on the other side of the Sea of Galilee, performing many miracles. Then, finally “He went away from there and came to his hometown, and his disciples followed him. And on the Sabbath he began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard him were astonished, saying, “Where did this man get these things? What is the wisdom given to him? How are such mighty works done by his hands? Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary and brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon? And are not his sisters here with us?” And they took offense at him. And Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor, except in his hometown and among his relatives and in his own household.” And he could do no mighty work there, except that he laid his hands on a few sick people and healed them. And he marveled because of their unbelief. And he went about among the villages teaching.” (Mark 6:1-6 ESV)

The Gospel of John 4:39-42 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did. So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days. And many more believed because of his own word; and said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.” (John 4:39-42 KJV)

There's nothing more powerful testimony than getting out of the closet, which in these passages, the woman demonstrated. The whole town came out to meet the Lord Jesus Christ because of the woman's testimony to, of all people, the men of the town! (John 4:28). She said to them: “Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?” (John 4:29 KJV). This must be a compelling confession to the men of the town by a woman having failed relationships with five men. Many Samaritans of the City of Sychar came to see the Lord and many believed in Him.

These people must have really been persuaded strongly by the Lord's Words of life by His grace through faith in Him. They beseech Him to stay with them two more days. We are not privy to the literal message He gave to the people of Samaria. But reflecting on their reaction, we can see that like the woman, they must truly be all so thirsty in their souls. We could see the picture that many of them took days off from their daily work to be with the Lord. They are great examples for us to follow, especially in these days' fully packed menus for daily living. Each moment of our day is filled with things to do. Many of us hardly have time to get a breather, especially with all the hi-tech gadgetry in hand that's supposed to alleviate our activities but instead it heaps much more loads of demanding duties to cope with. We must take time off to be with the Lord too, like those Samaritans. Yes, we come to God to worship Him in spirit and in truth, not doing religion with its rigmaroles of rituals that are not of God and are not of His Words.

Spending time with the Lord in our quiet moments with Him reflecting on His Words, we will know Him and truly believe, like the Samaritans did. It is comforting to be in the knowledge that He knew us, as His redeemed by grace through faith. He knows yours and my name! It is written, the Lord declared to the people of Israel: “But now thus says the Lord, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.” (Isaiah 43:1 ESV)

The Gospel of John 4:36-38 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together. And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth. I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours.” (John 4:36-38 KJV)

In these passages, the Lord Jesus, committed to finish His mission with urgency, is teaching His disciples that people should be diligent to gather the lost souls for salvation unto eternal life. He used the analogy of reaping. The reapers are rewarded along with the sowers. They both shall rejoice their rewards in eternity. The joy of God's harvest is when the wayward is found, the sinner turns away from sin, comes to Christ Jesus and believes.

The Lord also reminds His disciples and all who are redeemed and are born again by His grace through faith that we are all sent to reap the harvest fields that we didn't labor to sow. The disciples didn't work on the Samaritans to bring them to expect of the Messiah. When He said, "lift up your eyes, and see that fields are white for harvest" (John 4:35), He is stirring them and us that the right time to bring people into God's kingdom is now.

In their setting at the well, the Lord and the disciples were at the right place and time to gather and bring the Samaritans for the harvest of salvation. And, to us now in this real-time generation we are in, Apostle Paul reminds us in his exhortation to the believers in Corinth, as it is written: “For he says, “In a favorable time I listened to you, and in a day of salvation I have helped you.” Behold, now is the favorable time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” (2 Corinthians 6:2 ESV)

The Gospel of John 4:34-35 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work. Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.” (John 4:34-35 KJV)

This enigmatic declaration of the Lord Jesus Christ continues to lift us up to another level of revelation. He talks about His earthly ministry that the Father has sent Him to do. Its execution is what gives Him sustenance of strength while in the flesh. His commitment to finish the mission He was tasked to fulfill is the driving force providing stamina in His pursuit as He watch the field of harvest is come. No time to delay saying, "there're still four months then comes harvest". The field of Samaria is ready dry and white for harvest. Urgency gives Him the adrenaline to move quickly.

He was referring to the thirst of the Samaritans' souls waiting for His coming, as revealed in the woman's confession: “The woman said, “I know that Messiah” (called Christ) “is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.”” (John 4:25 NIV). And, behind the scene, unbeknownst to the disciples, a gathering convergence of hungry Samaritan souls is in the making. That's the picture of us too! There is spiritual famine in the world today. We can see that in the crumbling social climate and degenerating culture of this generation. This harvest example of the Samaritans is for our awakening. Securing our salvation is the Lord's sustaining food.

In this grace dispensation generation we are in, as we remember the Lord's redemptive sacrifice on the cross during this time of remembrance of His death and resurrection, let us honor Him by receiving His salvation by grace through faith in Him. As doing the will of the Father is the Lord's source of food, we are reminded by His Words, as it is written: “Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.” (John 6:35 ESV)

The Gospel of John 4:31-33 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“In the mean while his disciples prayed him, saying, Master, eat. But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of. Therefore said the disciples one to another, Hath any man brought him ought to eat?” (John 4:31-33 KJV).

These passages dropped a 'bombshell' of revelation to the disciples and to many of us, perhaps. Being in the place of the disciples, who may have foraged the city for food, hungry and tired from their journey, we can understand their concern pleading for their Master and Rabbi to eat. For sure they're stunned with the Lord's response, as we would too. And, it is logical for them to suspect that someone may have already provided Him food and of course had already eaten. That would be a fair assumption. But, as the Lord would further reveal, they'd certainly be more astounded.

Unbeknownst to them and to many of us, who hear it for the first time, this is the prelude for us to encounter a paradigm lift. This should prepare us to shift to higher perspective in life. This opens us a new window to view higher horizons of living. This we can experience not in the physical dimension. We must shift into the spiritual realm by being born again through believing in the Only Begotten Son of God our Lord Jesus Christ, which the Lord declared to Nicodemus (John 3:3).

We should be reminded that we're created a spirit being. That's truly who we are, having been created in the likeness of God (Genesis 1:26). This flesh, we can see and touch, is just a molded dust (Genesis 2:7). Hence, our true sustenance is not only the physically baked bread. As God's children of grace by faith in Christ, we are to have this in our heart, as the Lord Jesus was tempted by the devil in the midst of physical hunger, this truth was revealed: “And the tempter came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become loaves of bread.” But he answered, “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”” (Matthew 4:3-4 ESV)

The Gospel of John 4:28-30 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men, Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ? Then they went out of the city, and came unto him.” (John 4:28-30 KJV)

Here is another profoundly compelling reaction of a lost person who was found by the One who came to seek and save the lost. Truly this woman, as reflected by her story that was just laid bare in her conversation with the Lord, is a lost cause in the eyes of her community and the world. But not to the eyes of grace and truth in the person of Christ Jesus, the Messiah. In God’s eyes, she is a budding soul.

Like others who have encountered the Lord, starting with Andrew, who sought his brother Simon (John 1:41) and Phillip, who found and told Nathanael (John 1:41), this woman manifests a lost soul who was truly found. She recognized the value of what she found not to neglect sharing it with her fellow villagers despite her disrepute in their eyes. She rushes to the city to share the good news that she met the Christ, leaving her water pot behind and her business at the well in the first place.

This woman's example, as with Andrew and Phillip, is the impetus of this reflection blog. This is to share to them and provoke those who I care and love, most especially everyone whom the Lord Jesus loves, with the revelation of God's holy and written Words. And, the Lord loves everyone. He loves us all and the world, that He wants us all to see the truth of His Words and be set free from the shackles of religion and deceptions of the world.

It is my prayer that may all those who come across this blog be challenged to ingest the meat of God's true gospel of grace and truth that came through the Lord Jesus Christ (John 1:17). May many, if not all, be set free from the yeast of religion, which have been perpetuated from the Pharisees and Sadducees by the religions of today. The Lord warned the disciples and us about it in His Words, ““Be careful,” Jesus said to them. “Be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.” Then they understood that he was not telling them to guard against the yeast used in bread, but against the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.” (Matthew 16:6, 12 NIV)

The Gospel of John 4:27 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“And upon this came his disciples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, Why talkest thou with her?” (John 4:27 KJV)

When the disciples returned, right the instant the Lord Jesus revealed who He is to the woman, they were befuddled to catch them talking. As usual, as many of us do, they were quick to size up what a contemptuous undeserving person this woman was for the Lord to stoop down and talk with. Truly, like the disciples' reaction, seldom we place others on the same scale as we are. That's the tragedy of being under the yoke of sin. But, to their credit though, the disciples didn't say anything about what they thought. On the other hand, nothing is hidden before our Great I AM. "The LORD looks down from heaven on the sons of men to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God." (Psalm 14:2).

The disciples, and we all too, need to be reminded of the whats and whys the Lord seeks her and us, and talks to her and us. 'Salvation has come to our house!' We, the underserving, are the reason He came to be in our midst, as the Lord proclaimed to Zacchaeus, the tax collector. “And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, since he also is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”" (Luke 19:9-10 ESV)
