“The crown of the wise is their riches, But the foolishness of fools is folly.”(Proverbs 14:24 NKJV)
He declares both a promise and affirmation that riches are prominent ornaments upon those who are wise. By wisdom, material wealth is made blessings for those who seek God and rest in His grace by faith in Christ Jesus. It moves and prospers in their households and in their businesses. It touches many lives for God's glory. Riches in the hands of the wise are complete. It flows, not stagnant. It impacts not just his temporal dwelling, but also his eternal home in heaven.
Blessings and riches are exhibits of righteous authority by those who live wisely. In their hands, material blessings are transformed into spiritual wealth deposited in the bank of heaven. In the beatitudes, Lord Jesus exhorts: “But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.” (Mathew 6:20 NIV)
While fools, on the other hand, carry the ultimate expression of foolishness in his folly. When he gets access to material wealth he uses it to fuel his foolish projects. He scams and schemes to extort worldly resources for his ventures of trickeries and traps. Fools have no hint beyond his worldly view. If he stubbornly keeps his course, he is headed to fall. This world is his only best glimpse of heaven. While for the wise, this world is his only worst glimpse of hell. As it is written, through the Psalmist the Word of God warns: "This is the path of those who have foolish confidence; yet after them people approve of their boasts. Selah, like sheep they are appointed for Sheol; death shall be their shepherd, and the upright shall rule over them in the morning. Their form shall be consumed in Sheol, with no place to dwell. (Psalm 49:13, 14 ESV)
