The Gospel of Luke 13:28 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out.” (Luke 13:28 KJV).

This is a scenario no one would want to have and should not be in. But, then again, it’s a choice. This, therefore, warns that individuals relying on religious heritage or association, rather than personal relationship by faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, will experience intense, regretful anguish ("weeping and gnashing of teeth") when excluded from the kingdom of God. Along with the rest of the world and those who heard but rejected the Lord, they will be watching biblical patriarchs and prophets enter the Kingdom of God, while they are cast out.

This passage is the Lord’s clarifying response to a question about how many will be saved, emphasizing that salvation is not by works of self effort. Salvation is not for those who pride themselves of being religious zealots, like the Pharisees, the Priests and the Scribes whom the Lord Jesus calls out for their hypocrisy. This highlights the tragic reality of being close to the truth but missing it due to unbelief and/or being shackled by religion, realizing too late that only through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ by His grace one can enter the Kingdom of God and be saved. Scriptures affirm: “And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”” (Acts 4:12 ESV).

And I say, AMEN!
