The Gospel of Luke 17:26-27 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.” (Luke 17:26-27 KJV).

These passages compare the end times to the days of Noah. The time of the Lord’s coming will be just like during Noah’s time, with everyone carrying on their business like usual. People are marrying, drinking and eating. They’re having their usual good time and merry-making right up to the day Noah boarded the Ark. They have no clue of what’s developing, they suspected nothing until the flood hit and swept them all and everything away. They’ve ignored God's warnings until judgment arrived in a flash. This emphasizes that while the world will be caught off guard by judgment, those who trust in our Lord Jesus Christ are aware and safe.

The focus of these passages is not on the inherent evil of humanity’s daily activities, but on being totally occupied with worldly matters to the point of ignoring the spiritual aspects of living. As in Noah’s time, where the earth and mankind were totally wiped out by the flood, except for Noah’s family, present day’s clueless act leads to being "left behind" when the Lord returns. The present world, like in Noah's time, is marked by people living without thought for God or the coming judgment, treating the reality of God and the end times as a myth.

The core message of the gospel of the grace of God is believing, trusting and resting in our Lord’s finished work of love by grace, rather than being consumed by worldly materialistic pursuits. We must first and foremost seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness (Matthew 6:33) before it’s too late. We must get in our Ark of salvation in Christ Jesus our Lord. Lest on that day, the Word of the Lord warns: ““Two men will be working together in the field; one will be taken, the other left. Two women will be grinding flour at the mill; one will be taken, the other left.” (Matthew 24:40-41 NLT).

And I say, AMEN!
