When God says...
"The fear of the Lord is to hate evil; Pride and arrogance and the evil way And the perverse mouth I hate. Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom; I am understanding; I have strength." (Proverbs 8:13, 14 NKJV)As believers of Jesus (those who accept and declare in their hearts that Jesus Christ is their Lord and Savior) by nature we are to hate what Jesus hates and love who Jesus loves. We are to hate sin and love the sinner. As we all fall short from the glory of God we ought to love one another. As we allow Jesus to reign in our hearts by accepting His Lordship, we now live in His grace. And, in Him we are the righteousness of God.
Our reverent fear of the Lord now puts us in deep-seated hatred against pride, arrogance, perversity and all ways of evil. Those, now belong to the camp of our worst enemy. Wisdom starts by hating evil. War ensues. Counsel, sound wisdom and understanding provide us the strength in our battle against evil day by day. By wisdom we subdue evil with good. It is written: "But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and the fruit of good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere." (James 3:17 NLT)
"Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good." (Romans 12:21 ESV)
