When God says...
"The hand of the diligent will rule, But the lazy man will be put to forced labor." (Proverbs 12:24 NKJV)
He affirms the system of cause and effect: diligence=reward, but laziness=penalty. Each and every person who steps into this earth, God has created to inhabit, is equipped with the right resources to have dominion over it. God gave that assignment to Adam and Eve when He said - "So God created human beings in his image. In the image of God he created them. He created them male and female. God blessed them and said, “Have many children and grow in number. Fill the earth and be its master. Rule over the fish in the sea and over the birds in the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” (Genesis 1:27, 28 NCV)
We all have that same mandate from God. The only difference is how we respond to the call. The diligent who takes his mantle with persistent eagerness to work and cooperate with God, will rule. The indolent, who takes lifting a finger as forced labor and chooses to be static, is a person in lack. He is penalized. Even the small portion he has is taken away from him. As it is written in our Lord's parable of the talents, in regard to the lazy servant: "But his master answered him, ‘you wicked and slothful servant! You knew that I reap where I have not sown and gather where I scattered no seed? Then you ought to have invested my money with the bankers, and at my coming I should have received what was my own with interest. So take the talent from him and give it to him who has the ten talents. For to everyone who has will more be given, and he will have an abundance. But from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away. And cast the worthless servant into the outer darkness. In that place, there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” (Matthew 25:26-30 ESV)
As children of God by grace through faith is Christ Jesus, Apostle Paul exhorts us with these words: "So let us not become tired of doing good; for if we do not give up, the time will come when we will reap the harvest." (Galatians 6:9 GNB)
