When God says...
"The light of the righteous rejoices, But the lamp of the wicked will be put out." (Proverbs 13:9 NKJV)
He provides amazing analogy to help us grasp the ways of the righteous and the wicked. 'The lamp of the wicked' signifies that though he defies God, if he chooses to, the wicked can, and has the option to have light. He has the choice to come to God. Surrender to Him; refill the oil of his lamp by the spirit of His word, to brighten its flame so he can see clearly the path he walks on.
But, the sad thing is, in his wickedness, the wicked chooses darkness. He rejects God and His Words. He allows his lamp to run out of light. Yes, it is man's choice to get hold of the light of God like the righteous - who accepts Jesus his Lord and Savior and abides by the light of His word.
Jesus resides in our hearts the instant we welcome Him by faith. His light shines in our hearts as Apostle Paul exhorts with these words: "The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ. (2 Corinthians 4:4-6 NIV)
