When God says...
"There is one who makes himself rich, yet has nothing; and one who makes himself poor, yet has great riches." (Proverbs 13:7 NKJV)
"The Message paraphrase puts it this way: A pretentious, showy life is an empty life; a plain and simple life is a full life." (Proverbs 13:7 MSG)
He gives a subtle nudge that a showy frontage is an indicator of empty heart. It is a warning light for need of self-examination, to hopefully re-set priorities towards a truly blessed way of living by God's Word. Let’s consider the declaration of the Psalmist, as it is written: “I pondered the direction of my life, and I turned to follow your laws. I will hurry, without delay, to obey your commands.” (Psalms 119:59-60 NLT)
What does really matter? Let us hurry. It is having the Lordship of Christ Jesus in our life! We are to unapologetically declare His glory before the world. We are to boldly proclaim His words to humanity in our day-to-day lives. Lord Jesus leaves these words of warning: "For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul? For what can a man give in return for his soul? For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him will the Son of Man also be ashamed when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.”(Mark 8:36-38 ESV)
And I say, AMEN!
