When God says...
“The rich and the poor have this in common, The Lord is the maker of them all.” (Proverbs 22:2 NKJV)
He gives us notice: no one is licensed to look down on anyone. We are all equals in the eyes of God. We are made of the same dirt. By the same hand we are created (Genesis 2:7). When we receive Jesus as Lord and Savior, He transforms us. We are His workmanship. In Christ, scriptures declare - "For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” (Ephesians 2:10 NLT)
So, no more arrogance and hypocrisy! The Ruler of the universe loves us all the same. Whatever material edge anyone owns in this world, has no bearing in heaven. Unless, it is dispensed with love to bless the needy and saved in the Bank of Heaven. The more so, if we allow our lives to be driven by the pursuit and dependence on money and material possessions, which blind our sight from God's high call. Focusing on material things to seek relief for our needs, instead of God, puts our soul in jeopardy. That way, even as you struggle (in the wrong way) and deprived of riches in worldly measure, because of greed, you run the risk of continued sufferings in life, hereafter. Or, maybe you are swimming in luxury of this world’s offerings, but separated from God, you are destined for eternal torment in a reversal of fortunes.
Hence for those who receive the saving grace of Jesus, though they may at times look deprived of material things, they are rich of heavenly comforts. He gave us a heads up about it in His message: “There was a rich man who was clothed in purple and fine linen and who feasted sumptuously every day. And at his gate was laid a poor man named Lazarus, covered with sores, who desired to be fed with what fell from the rich man’s table. Moreover, even the dogs came and licked his sores. The poor man died and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried, and in Hades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side. And he called out, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus to dip the end of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am in anguish in this flame.’ But Abraham said, ‘Child, remember that you in your lifetime received your good things, and Lazarus in like manner bad things; but now he is comforted here, and you are in anguish.” (Luke 16:19-25 ESV)
So, if change is needed, the time is now! Let's come to Jesus and accept Him our personal Lord and Savior. Let's depend upon His grace by faith. Not religion, nor our businesses, nor our jobs, nor our material resources. In Him we are provided now and forever, as it is written: "And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. To our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen.” (Philippians 4:19, 20 ESV)
And I say, AMEN!
