“A servant will not be corrected by words: For though he understand he will not answer.” (Proverbs 29:19 KJV)
This plainly warns that in a master and servant relationship, or employer and employees, or king and subjects, one should not assume that because proper corrections, instructions and orders are given, those are followed to the letter. A follow through is a must, most of the time. That's the unfortunate frailty nature of man, apart from the saving grace of Christ Jesus. With Adam's sin-tainted DNA flowing in his vein, man is as stubborn as a mule! (Psalm 32:9).
But, being a new creation as children of God by faith in Christ Jesus, in whatever roles we are in, we have to be conscious always that we all have tasks to accomplish. One word of instruction must be enough to do what's needed to be done. We have to have focus and readiness to act at once when told. We are to be always mindful that nothing else matters: Not comparison with others; Not to strive being better than others; Or, even to aim the impossible. What matters is the task in front of us, giving it the best we can, not by our self-effort, but by the promptings of the Holy Spirit, totally dependent in God’s grace by faith in Christ Jesus our Lord.
When we receive the saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ by faith, we are born again and become a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17). The DNA of righteousness in our Lord Jesus Christ is now flowing in our vein (Romans 5:17-19).
We are therefore to abide in God's grace, and continuously correcting one another by His living Words of guidance and reproof. Reflecting on Apostle Paul's exhortation, we are called to be attentive and ready for action all the time. As he charged Timothy, we are too, with these words: “I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.” (2 Timothy 4:1-2 ESV)
