When God Says...
“The king by judgment establisheth the land: But he that receiveth gifts overthroweth it.” (Proverbs 29:4 KJV
Established or toppled are the consequential contrasts this passage is giving us light of, between a just and a corrupt leadership. Rotten leaders bring their county to ruin. Several such examples whom the world had been awestruck with were: Marcos, Sr and his wife, who reportedly stole around $ 10 billion from the nation's treasury; Suharto of Indonesia ran off with $30 billion; and Mubarak of Egypt had gotten a reported $ 40 billion. They subjected the country and the people they led to dire poverty.
This brings to awareness that fair and just leaders matter to a nation's well being. With Godly justice, the country is raised up to prosper, not run down in misery. The people are blessed and flourishing. Criminals and evil men are locked in, not celebrated like what's happening in our country. In the hands of just leaders, the nation thrives and endures. The land is firmly established with power and strength, undaunted on the face of enemies and all types of evil threats.
Affluence pervades the land when the leadership stands on the rock of God's standard of justice. By faith in Christ Jesus, His grace abounds. The land is secure in the promise of His words: “no weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed, and you shall refute every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord and their vindication from me, declares the Lord.”” (Isaiah 54:17 ESV)
