The Gospel of Luke 11:1 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.” (Luke 11:1 KJV).

In this passage, with one of the disciples seeking guidance how to pray after He finished praying, sets the stage for the Lord Jesus Christ teaching His disciples and us how to pray. This highlights the importance of prayer as a vital connection with God. As the Lord’s habit, He is often found looking for a secluded place to pray. And His disciples, who see His deep communion with the Father, desired the same connection. Hence, one of them couldn’t hold to ask, "Lord, teach us to pray". The Lord shows them and us how to converse with God, not in religious ritual way, but as a son and a daughter to a loving Father, fostering a warm communion.

This, therefore, reminds and encourages us to be persistent in prayer, as the Lord shows us an example in His habit. God delights to give us what we ask for (John 14:22). This the Lord Jesus assures, as it is written: ““Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!” (Matthew 7:7-11 ESV).

And I say, AMEN!
