Proverbs 2:11-15 When God Says... I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

Discretion will preserve you; Understanding will keep you, To deliver you from the way of evil, From the man who speaks perverse things, From those who leave the paths of uprightness To walk in the ways of darkness; Who rejoice in doing evil, And delight in the perversity of the wicked; Whose ways are crooked, And who are devious in their paths; (Proverbs 2:11-15 NKJV)

He aptly equips us with wisdom for our decision making, as life is a journey of choices. Many slick Alecs would cross our way with their crafty and twisted words to disrupt the rhythm of our walk with God. Possessing wisdom puts us in advantage.

Wisdom with knowledge gives us tremendous edge. This is not of the world, but of the Lord and His Word. Let's be wise, savor His Word and keep our heart stay in the Lord. Then, we are victorious. As it is written - "With God we will gain the victory, and he will trample down our enemies. (Psalm 60:12 NIV)

Proverbs 2:9-10 When God Says... I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

Then you will understand righteousness and justice, Equity and every good path. When wisdom enters your heart, And knowledge is pleasant to your soul, (Proverbs 2:9, 10 NKJV)

Heavenly wisdom precipitates a spiritual paradigm shift in our being. We will come to see life in a new light. We will know that the path to righteous and just living is in the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ by faith.

As Apostle Paul exhorts us with these words - "For no one can ever be made right with God by doing what the law commands. The law simply shows us how sinful we are. But now God has shown us a way to be made right with him without keeping the requirements of the law, as was promised in the writings of Moses and the prophets long ago. We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are. For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God freely and graciously declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins." (Romans 3:20-24 NLT)

Proverbs 2:6-8 When God Says... I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

For the Lord gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding; He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly; He guards the paths of justice, And preserves the way of His saints. (Proverbs 2:6-8 NKJV)

He affirms to give us wisdom coming from His mouth through the revelation of His Holy and Written Word. Yes, He fills us to be wise through salvation by Christ Jesus our Lord. If we walk uprightly in faith by His grace, He keeps us safe and guides our path. It is written - "The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul. The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in from this time forth, and even forevermore. (Psalms 121:7, 8 NKJV)

Proverbs 2:1-5 When God Says... I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

My son, if you receive my words, And treasure my commands within you, So that you incline your ear to wisdom, And apply your heart to understanding; Yes, if you cry out for discernment, And lift up your voice for understanding, If you seek her as silver, And search for her as for hidden treasures; Then you will understand the fear of the Lord, And find the knowledge of God. (Proverbs 2:1-5 NKJV)

He assures us that if we seek wisdom earnestly we will understand reverent fear of The Lord. And, we will know He is God Almighty, the creator of all things seen and unseen. It all hinges in our hearts - in our eagerness to receive His Word. His Word sets us free from ignorance, and bring us to liberty in the knowledge of truth. As it is written - 'Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:31, 32 NKJV)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 1:32-33 When God Says... I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

For the turning away of the simple will slay them, And the complacency of fools will destroy them; But whoever listens to me will dwell safely, And will be secure, without fear of evil.” (Proverbs 1:32, 33 NKJV)

He shows the ominous result of ignorant and foolish actions. Turning away and disdain of the knowledge from God's Word makes one choose death. Without His Word makes one devoid of life. Wisdom from His Word is our only way to life. Security from evil is in The Lord. And, the days are evil. We need His counsel. Redeem the time.

Apostle Paul exhorts us with these words - "So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do. Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, and making music to the Lord in your hearts. And give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 5:15-20 NLT)

Proverbs 1:29-31 When God Says... I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

Because they hated knowledge And did not choose the fear of the Lord, They would have none of my counsel And despised my every rebuke. Therefore they shall eat the fruit of their own way, And be filled to the full with their own fancies. (Proverbs 1:29-31 NKJV)

He continues forewarning the grave consequence of choosing to disregard the wisdom and counsel of His Word. If you reject His Word, you reject The Lord and you will reap whatever you sow in your own way. Having your eyes and desires set on the pleasures of this world can do nothing good but destruction. There is no eternity in earthly wisdom. If there is, it's folly. It leads to eternal damnation and suffering.

As it is written - "For the wisdom of this world is foolishness to God. As the Scriptures say, “He traps the wise in the snare of their own cleverness.” (1 Corinthians 3:19 NLT)

Blessed Resurrection Day!

HE IS RISEN!

My Lord and my King! He took my place.

He was Beaten. Scourged.

Tortured for me, and all of us.

Hanged and nailed on the cross to die, so, we can live.

Yes, that's my KING! My LORD JESUS CHRIST!

He gave HIS life. Died. Buried!

..... But, the grave couldn't hold HIM!

HE IS ALIVE WITH ME AND YOU,

NOW ... and FOREVER!!!

Proverbs 1:28-29 When God Says... I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“Then they will call on me, but I will not answer; They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me. Because they hated knowledge And did not choose the fear of the Lord, (Proverbs 1:28, 29 NKJV)

He strongly forewarns, the worst place a person to be is separation from God. A place where when he calls on God, He will not answer. He can't hear him. Man's disdain of His call for knowledge builds a wall between him and God. When a person chooses to forsake fear of God, he won't find Him when he seeks Him. Man is blinded by his foolish arrogance.

This brings to remembrance God's words to His people Israel - "And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to keep the commandments and statutes of the Lord, which I am commanding you today for your good? Proverbs 1:24-27 When God Says... I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

"Because I have called and you refused, I have stretched out my hand and no one regarded, Because you disdained all my counsel, And would have none of my rebuke, I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your terror comes, When your terror comes like a storm, And your destruction comes like a whirlwind, When distress and anguish come upon you." (Proverbs 1:24-27 NKJV)

He warns of grave consequence for foolish disregard of His call to enter into His grace and listen to His counsel. Whether we accept it or not, does not change the truth- He is everything to us, and none other. Being with and in God we have blessings and peace. Apart from God comes distress and terror. Decision is vested on us, our free will. Wisdom tells us to remain with God by faith in Christ Jesus our Lord.

In Him we have His promises - "No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And their righteousness is from Me,” Says the Lord. (Isaiah 54:17 NKJV)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 1:23 When God Says... I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

"Turn at my rebuke; Surely I will pour out my spirit on you; I will make my words known to you." (Proverbs 1:23 NKJV)

He is telling those whom He loves, - that's us all! That, we learn by His reproof and, redirection to our destination. He promised to pour out His Spirit. The Holy Spirit will reveal to us our navigation path by His Word if we accept Him into our life.

Lord Jesus said: "However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. (John 16:13 NKJV)

Proverbs 1:20-22 When God Says... I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

"Wisdom calls aloud outside; She raises her voice in the open squares. She cries out in the chief concourses, At the openings of the gates in the city She speaks her words: “How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity? For scorners delight in their scorning, And fools hate knowledge." (Proverbs 1:20-22 NKJV)

He reveals that while wisdom is covertly hidden, it is openly available to everyone who seeks, being found in the most prominent of public venues. One should note that an idle mind devoid of wisdom brings on to sin. Wisdom is a gift from God to those who diligently seek, and we must pray to receive it. Only a fool will turn away from the knowledge and wisdom of God. Three types are called to hear wisdom: (1) the simple or naΓ―ve or ignorant; (2) the scorners or mockers; and (3) the fools or obstinate unbelievers, who shun the truth.

Scripture says - "God gives wisdom, knowledge, and joy to those who please him. But if a sinner becomes wealthy, God takes the wealth away and gives it to those who please him. This, too, is meaningless—like chasing the wind." (Ecclesiastes 2:26 NLT)

Let's listen to the voice of wisdom!

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 1:17-19 When God Says... I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

"Surely, in vain the net is spread In the sight of any bird; But they lie in wait for their own blood, They lurk secretly for their own lives. So are the ways of everyone who is greedy for gain; It takes away the life of its owners." (Proverbs 1:17-19 NKJV)

He shows, as a bird flies into a net and is caught, so will the sinner get caught if he goes head long into sin. The sinner knows the net is there, but get into it anyway. But for the bird, it would be ineffective to set up a net for catching it in its full view. Hence, the sinner, as he want others to languish with him, he sets up his trap for the innocent in secret. But, in the end the trap is sprung back on him (v.19). As he is greedy, his greed entraps him. It drives stupid sinners rush to their own ruin. A person lying in wait to kill someone else is actually sealing their own doom. Greed for things that do not belong to you is certainly the cause of most sins toward your fellow man.

It is written - "But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction." (1 Timothy 6:9 ESV)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 1:15,16 When God Says... I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

My son, do not walk in the way with them, Keep your foot from their path; For their feet run to evil, And they make haste to shed blood. (Proverbs 1:15, 16 NKJV)

He gives a way to confront the invitation of sin. It must be rejected at the first attempt to tempt, by refusing even the association that can lead to sin. Avoid the beginnings of sin. This is a warning not to keep evil company. There is guilt by association. You may not be guilty of their sins; but if you are caught with them, you will pay the terrible penalty of being with them. Many have gotten into serious trouble just for want to belong. The line, "everyone is doing it" is often used to justify actions leading to trouble. Peer pressure can influence bad judgment. The best way to avoid this is as the Scripture advises. Don't go with them in the first place. Say "no" to temptation. Say yes to God's word.

As it is written - Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. (James 4:7 NKJV)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 1:10-14 When God Says... I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

My son, if sinners entice you, Do not consent. If they say, “Come with us, Let us lie in wait to shed blood; Let us lurk secretly for the innocent without cause; Let us swallow them alive like Sheol, And whole, like those who go down to the Pit; We shall find all kinds of precious possessions, We shall fill our houses with spoil; Cast in your lot among us, Let us all have one purse”— (Proverbs 1:10-14 NKJV)

He is warning us there are agents of sin around. Careless, face to face with their temptation, we become a neutral and free moral agent. As believers, we are shielded by faith. But, when we listen to them we step on to a place of decision to sin or not. Better avoid them, lest our free will can be tested. The agents of sin use forceful tactics. They use enticing bait of spoils to weaken our resolve. We are to be always alert and online with God. Lord Jesus said - "Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” (Mark 14:38 NKJV)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 1:8-9 When God Says... I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

My son, hear the instruction of your father, And do not forsake the law of your mother; For they will be a graceful ornament on your head, And chains about your neck. (Proverbs 1:8, 9 NKJV)

He reminds us the two important people in our life whose mission is to provide the best of everything - our mother and father. Their guidance which they painstakingly try to impress on us to heed is to save us from unnecessary troubles. They have our welfare at heart. Accepting their instructions, we gain from their experience and avoid the mistakes they made. They have their best intensions for our life.

The greatest gift and legacy a parent can give to a child is the gift of Godly values. The highest honor a child accords a parent is learning the laws God tasked him to teach his children.

It is written: “And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates. (Deuteronomy 6:6-9 NKJV)

Proverbs 1:7 When God Says... I Say, AMEN!

 When God says...

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction. (Proverbs 1:7 NKJV)

Fear of The Lord brings one to the knowledge - God is the giver of life.  No power can take it, other than when He allows it. And, that's because we choose ourselves, to be taken away from Him. He holds everything in His Mighty hand, except our will.

With that knowledge, as we embrace wisdom and we chose to follow Him. Remain in Him by faith in Christ Jesus, He promised - "And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand. (John 10:28, 29 NKJV)

Proverbs 1:5-6 When God Says... I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

A wise man will hear and increase learning, and a man of understanding will attain wise counsel, to understand a proverb and an enigma, the words of the wise and their riddles. (Proverbs 1:5, 6 NKJV)

He affirms that a wise man is one who is a lifelong learner. He is quick to listen and slow to speak, which is a very good attitude to gain knowledge. A man of understanding is eager for advice by older, wiser mentors from the Scriptures. They are easy to be instructed by someone who has already experienced the same thing they are about to face. These wise counsels can save a seeker of wisdom from many mistakes. The wise believer will have the ability to guide or govern his life and others with truth.

Lord Jesus said that apart from the spirit of truth, we look through a dark glass. We cannot understand the secrets of proverbs and parables. We can only understand them to the extent that the Holy Spirit reveals them to us. Even the disciples had the Lord Jesus interpret His parables to them.

Now, being saved by the Lord Jesus through faith by His grace - not our merit, the Holy Spirit who is in us working as our teacher, helps us interpret the hidden meanings of God's word.

Proverbs seeks to sharpen the mind of those who seek knowledge and wisdom for right living. Study of the scriptures is sufficient to provide the wisdom for the perplexities of life. Let's be a learner and be teachable. Invite the Holy Spirit in our life. Lord Jesus said - "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you." (John 14:26 NKJV)

And I say ... AMEN!

Proverbs 1:1-4 When God Says... I Say, AMEN!

When God says ...

The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel: To know wisdom and instruction, To perceive the words of understanding, To receive the instruction of wisdom, Justice, judgment, and equity; To give prudence to the simple, To the young man knowledge and discretion— (Proverbs 1:1-4 NKJV)

He challenges us to learn from the wisest king Israel has ever had, with the steps he experienced to know wisdom: it starts with meditating the words of God regularly day and night....and, as and when needed, even if you feel not, like the air we breathe, water we drink and food we eat. Then, embrace and receive it with gusto, like when you are gasping, hungry and thirsty. He promised-we shall be filled. Then apply it in our daily lives in prudent behavior led by the Holy Spirit, not efforts, for just dispensation of judgment and decisions, discretion in our actions and language, and equity in dealing with those around us and those under our control and influence.

So, in Christ Jesus, having Lordship of our lives by His grace through faith, the Scripture exhorts us with these words of promise - "Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, The Holy One of Israel: “I am the Lord your God, Who teaches you to profit, who leads you by the way you should go. Oh, that you had heeded My commandments! Then your peace would have been like a river, And your righteousness like the waves of the sea. (Isaiah 48:17, 18 NKJV)
