When God says...
"The rich man’s wealth is his strong city; The destruction of the poor is their poverty. The labor of the righteous leads to life, The wages of the wicked to sin." (Proverbs 10:15, 16 NKJV)
As with everything in this world, all the resources we can get hold of, be it our T4s - time, talent, touch and treasure or, wealth, are neutral. These are all under the control of our will, how we view and use them. It can be used for sin or to bless. To a man of God, his wealth is likened to a walled city. It sustains and protects. It empowers prosperity.
It is not God's intention for a person to be poor. Poverty is a choice. When a person chooses not to labor to participate in God's system of seedtime and harvest, the consequence is nothing to bring in the barn at the season of harvest. He who stands right with God and obeys His commands to sow will prosper to live in abundant life and will not be in lack. While the lazy leads to sin and brings self-destruction.
The man of God is blessed to be a blessing. As God promised blessings to Abraham, He affirms the same promise to those who obeys His command by believing in and accepting Jesus his Lord and Savior. It is written - "And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. It is written: “They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor; their righteousness endures forever.” Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. (2 Corinthians 9:8-10 NIV)
