When God says...
"Dishonest scales are an abomination to the Lord, But a just weight is His delight." (Proverbs 11:1 NKJV)
He talks about measures we use in our daily affairs in life using the analogy of a scale used in commerce. This analogy reveals that there remains no change in people conducting business in false weights, today as with long ago.
Dishonest scale applies to personal measure of justice. How we make decisions that affect our life and others. In our conduct with our neighbor and fellowmen, there is no substitute for honesty. This false balance could relate to one's prejudice with others in terms of their status, their possessions, their ethnicity, intellectual level and any other manner we view them contrary to the grace of God. The scale we measure would be abominable before God whenever a trace of bias and prejudice exist. Fair and just weight we use pleases God.
Let justice and truth ever hold the scale; and always do to him what you would have them done to yourself. As it is written, Lord Jesus said - "So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets. (Matthew 7:12 NIV)
