When God says...
"He who tills his land will be satisfied with bread, But he who follows frivolity is devoid of understanding." (Proverbs 12:11 NKJV)
We are given a hint what we can do with the field we are blessed with - till it or just let it lie idle. Tilling it, leads to harvest. Doing nothing brings nothing. That’s a foolhardy attitude of a person who lacks wisdom and understanding.
A deep mining of these words, we see God calls our attention using the analogy of 'tilling the land' in order to properly and effectively plant seeds that produce fruits. A land untilled is hard. Seed can't grow. The land is our heart. We are to soften our heart. Make it teachable to receive God's Word. His Word is the seed that brings us life. To do that, we have to open our heart. Be in the right environment of worship and solitude with God day by day. Be purposeful in meditation of His Word. Be committed. Not lackadaisical and frivolous. We allow His Word to be continuously sown, and in due season comes the harvest. Our spirit is filled and satisfied with bread from heaven.
So let's till. Let's plow our hearts. It is written: "This is what the lord says to the people of Judah and Jerusalem: “Plow up the hard ground of your hearts! Do not waste your good seed among thorns. O people of Judah and Jerusalem, surrender your pride and power. Change your hearts before the lord, or my anger will burn like an unquenchable fire because of all your sins. (Jeremiah 4:3, 4 NLT)
And I say, AMEN!
