When God says...
“Houses and riches are an inheritance from fathers, But a prudent wife is from the Lord.” (Proverbs 19:14 NKJV)
He reminds us that God's material blessings to our parents may be passed on to us, their children. That is if they have sown and scattered the seeds God provided (those are their T4s - Time, Talent, Treasure & Touch) in the fields of The Lord. Godly parents leave their children the legacy of blessings, to nurture and to prosper for the glory of God, and to pass on to the next generations.
But a wise and virtuous spouse, no parents can give their children. He/she is the kind of spouse who builds a home truly made into a sanctuary of God's comfort and peace. Only God can see their hearts. A prudent wife is heritage from God for those who seek them from Him. Those who depend in The Lord will experience such beautiful encounter with their divinely chosen partners. One such example was Boaz who encountered a prudent woman in the person of Ruth. Both their paths were orchestrated in such amazing divine direction to converge at the harvest field, as it is written in the Book of Ruth, Chapter 2. Ruth and Boaz were the ancestors of David and Jesus. Boaz who stewards his wealth in God's way is such an example of a wise husband for Ruth. And Ruth, who was a Moabite – not a Jew, is a good example of a prudent wife to Boaz. Not like many in the world today who quarrel with their mother-in laws, she was also an amazing daughter-in-law to Naomi.
Like Boaz and Ruth, we should follow God's promptings deep in our hearts by the cue of His Words, as we rest in His grace by faith in Christ Jesus. When our conscience tells us, 'this direction I am going is not right', we stop! Wait upon the Holy Spirit! Then follow His lead. Like Ruth, she persists to follow God's lead to her divine destiny, even with Naomi driving her away. The purity of her heart was revealed in her declaration of faith when she was strongly urged by her mother-in-law to go back to her family, as her husband already passed away. She profoundly declared, as it is written: "But Ruth replied, “Don’t ask me to leave you and turn back. Wherever you go, I will go; wherever you live, I will live. Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God. Wherever you die, I will die, and there I will be buried. May the lord punish me severely if I allow anything but death to separate us!” (Ruth 1:16, 17 NLT)
And I say, AMEN!
