Proverbs 23:29-35 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says …

“Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has contentions? Who has complaints? Who has wounds without cause? Who has redness of eyes? Those who linger long at the wine, Those who go in search of mixed wine. Do not look on the wine when it is red, When it sparkles in the cup, When it swirls around smoothly; At the last it bites like a serpent, And stings like a viper. Your eyes will see strange things, And your heart will utter perverse things. Yes, you will be like one who lies down in the midst of the sea, Or like one who lies at the top of the mast, saying: “They have struck me, but I was not hurt; They have beaten me, but I did not feel it. When shall I awake, that I may seek another drink?”” (Proverbs 23:29-35 NKJV)

These passages dropped bombshells of picturesque truths and of very profound counsels and warnings about the destructive wake of too much consumption of wine. It is not a secret that this tool of the devil is a powerful wrecker. Even science affirms and warns of its danger to physical health and life.

It could lead to addiction to those who indulge it. It causes collateral wreckage of lives within the proximity of those possessed by it. Hence, Apostle Paul echoes this counsel, as it is written: “And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit, addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ.” (Ephesians 5:18-21 ESV)

And I say, AMEN!
