When God Says …
“Do not be envious of evil men, Nor desire to be with them; For their heart devises violence, And their lips talk of troublemaking.” (Proverbs 24:1-2 NKJV)
These passages warn us to avoid being drawn by the flaunting of evil. The schemes of their heart are only wickedness and the sugar-coated utterances their mouth speaks are crafty, like when Eve enabled the serpent in the garden. It led them and all of us to fall from the grace of God (Genesis 3). We must not be impressed by the adornment of their seemingly attractive possessions which are here-today-gone-tomorrow-sort-of-things. The world around us has a lot of them. Those are baits for trouble. It could lead us to a place of acrimony and regrets.
So, having been made righteous in the eyes of God through His grace by faith in Jesus, we are to keep our heart content and our eyes settled on what we have. Let us have our being singing with grateful songs. And, have our conscience and mind reflect on these words: “Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away.” (Psalm 1:1-4 ESV)
