The Gospel of Luke 19:27 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.” (Luke 19:27 KJV).

This passage now shifts focus to those that reject the reign of the Lord’s kingship by grace. This serves as the dramatic close of the Parable of the Minas or Pounds that highlight the Lord’s kingly return and the reign of His grace.

The nobleman that represents our Lord Jesus Christ, who ascends to heaven (the "far country") is returning as King. The "citizens who hated him”, representing the religious world and those who audaciously reject His unmerited favor, are doomed. Judgement is meted upon them at the end of days.

The reign of our Lord Jesus Christ under His grace teaches us that salvation is entirely based on receiving Him by faith as our redeemer. You cannot casually accept His blessings while rejecting His Lordship and salvation. This verse serves as a stark warning to those who deliberately and objectively reject His grace. They choose to remain His enemies, facing ultimate judgment.

This emphasizes strongly that for true believers, the New Covenant of Grace is the time for unmerited favor, not judgment. This point out that while the Lord’s enemies face absolute destruction as the parable taught, God's children are affirmed, as it is written: “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” (Romans 8:1 ESV).

And I say, AMEN!
