The Gospel of Luke 19:5-6 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchæus, make haste, and come down; for to day I must abide at thy house. And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully.” (Luke 19:5-6 KJV).

As the Lord Jesus passes through the city of Jericho, He came to the spot where the despised chief tax collector, Zacchaeus, tries to get a glimpse of Him up a sycamore tree. The Lord looks up, calls him by name, and tells him to hurry down because He "must" stay at his house. Zacchaeus joyfully scrambled down the tree, stunned and thinking ‘what a luck’ he has just gotten. Even though he came simply curious and trying to see this famous man, the Lord Jesus was actively seeking him out. This illustrates that God searches for those hated by the world and lost by His divine grace.

By calling the outcast, wealthy tax collector by name and asking to stay at his house, the Lord Jesus offered him grace and fellowship instead of judgment. He extended Zacchaeus radical acceptance to salvation. Our Lord Jesus said He must stay at Zacchaeus's house today. Zacchaeus responds with urgency and joy. His welcoming obedience, shows that true transformation begins the moment you eagerly accept our Lord Jesus Christ into our everyday life. This is our reminder, as Scriptures affirmed: “Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.” (Hebrews 13:2 ESV).

And I say, AMEN!
