The Gospel of Luke 1:38 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.” (Luke 1:38 KJV).

A heart of a servant and submission to the Lord’s plan and purpose for her life are the qualities that Mary demonstrated, for our emulation, in this passage. With her yielding words of affirmation, the angel Gabriel completed his mission, and left. This declaration of Mary points to the essence of the Lord’s coming by supernatural conception in her womb “the handmaid of the Lord”. Yes, as Mary was, we are called to servanthood! Hence, thirty years later, with His disciples, “Jesus called them together and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles Lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave— just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”” (Matthew 20:25-28 NIV).

The Lord Jesus Christ confers a very special bond with the disciples and with all of us who receives Him by faith, for theirs and our heart of service. The Lord Jesus declares: “No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you. These things I command you, so that you will love one another.” (John 15:15-17 ESV).

And I say, AMEN!
