When God Says …
“And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit? If ye then be not able to do that thing which is least, why take ye thought for the rest?” (Luke 12:25-26 KJV).
By these passages saying in another version: “Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? And if worry can’t accomplish a little thing like that, what’s the use of worrying over bigger things?” (Luke 12:25-26 NLT), our Lord Jesus is calling us to stop worrying, and instead rest by faith in Him and His finished work on the cross. He puts us in the know that worrying is a form of unbelief. It shows a lack of trust in His provision of grace and of His love. Worry has nothing positive and of value at all to add to our life, neither to lengthen nor to strengthen. It only cause stress, wastes time, and inflicts damage on health. It is a struggle of futility.
When we stop worrying: by trusting God; by resting in Him; and by relying on Him, His anointing flows freely in the fabric of our being, allowing Him to strengthen, to heal, and to restore us. There is power in resting in His grace. True blessing and victory come not from work of self-effort or anxious striving, but from resting with confidence that God loves us and is in control, able and willing to take care of us.
Yes, we are still in the world, and worries creep on us. We must always be conscious to turn our worries into prayers - that is our continuous conversation with God our Father in Christ Jesus. Not the kind of “prayers” that religion does, but prayers that are rooted in Scriptures. It keeps us connected with the Vine who is our Lord Jesus Christ, we being the branches. In that state, we eliminate the presence of anxiety and worry, with the Vine’s supply flowing in us. Our Lord Jesus Christ reassuringly declares: “I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in me, he is thrown away like a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned. If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples.” (John 15:5-8 ESV).
And I say, AMEN!
