The Gospel of John 17:12 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by that name you gave me. None has been lost except the one doomed to destruction so that Scripture would be fulfilled.” (John 17:12 NIV).

The Lord Jesus continues on His priestly prayers for the protection of His core disciples and to keep them in their faith and courage to stand strong. He affirms that while He was with them they were kept safe under the Father’s authority, power and protection in the name that the Father gave. In His name, all of those who remain in their faith were never lost, and will never be. Yes, they may have fallen short at times in their walk, like Peter. We too may have some missteps while in this world. But, like the Eleven apostles, we must never lost sight of the truth that the person of grace who is the Master - Christ Jesus, is faithful and merciful. In His missteps Apostle Peter always finds his way back to the warm embrace of the arms of grace of Christ Jesus our Lord. Not like Judas Iscariot who failed to see the power of grace and used his power of free will to go his own way. He sadly was lost. His choice to follow the trappings of world under the cue of the prince of darkness led him to the road of perdition, in fulfillment of the prophecy of his betrayal (Psalm 31:9).

This passage is therefore reminding us, being the Lord’s and the Father’s own, that we have heavenly protection by faith in Christ Jesus. We have the Lord’s absolute promise to believe and stand on. As we put our faith in Him and rest in His grace by believing, and look to Christ Jesus the author and finisher of our faith, He assures us with this declaration: “I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.” (John 10:28-29 ESV).

And I say, AMEN!
