When God Says …
“Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; that they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.” (John 17:20-21 KJV).
In these passages the Lord Jesus Christ shifted the emphasis of His prayer to the well-being of the disciples and us-the present day believers in Him and the Father through the disciples’ testimonies. The Lord Jesus looked beyond the disciples' time. We’re in the Lord’s mind. He saw us and others who would believe the truth that the disciples would reveal to us. His prayer for them, and for us, is that we would be unified so that the world around us will believe that God sent the Lord Jesus to be the Savior of the world. So let's get together by coming to Christ Jesus and seek His life, His love, His will, and His Spirit to help us be what He has called us to be.
In Christ Jesus by faith, we become members in one body (1 Corinthians 12:12-13). And, as we consent to Him to love us, we are secure to the one call of hope that we belong. We and the first disciples become one in the Son and the Father. Apostle Paul declared profoundly to the believers in Ephesus for our reminder: “There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call— one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.” (Ephesians 4:4-6 ESV).
And I say, AMEN!
