The Gospel of John 17:4-5 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.” (John 17:4-5 KJV).

In these passages, the Lord Jesus in prayer to the Father teaches us by His Word and by His perfect model of obedience to completely fulfill the works the Father called us to do that which will bring Him glory. The Lord Jesus Christ left nothing undone for which the Father sent Him to earth to accomplish - always glorifying the Father by His perfect holiness. He supplied the demands of the law (Matthew 5:17) so we can be made righteous by faith in Him (Romans 3:22). When the Lord Jesus approached John the Baptist to be baptized by him of which John the Baptist objected to, He gives this as a reason, as it is written: “Jesus replied, "Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness." Then John consented” (Matt 3:15 NIV).

For us to give glory to the Father and that we may be glorified in Him, we are called to fulfill the work of God. The work of God we are called to do is to believe in Him whom the Father glorified before the foundation of the world. He, whom the Father is well pleased with - His only begotten Son, is who we must listen to, to give Him and the Father glory. The Father declared this from heaven: “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!”” (Matthew 17:5b NIV). Yes, let’s listen to Him, as it is written: “Then they said to him, “What must we do, to be doing the works of God?” Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.”” (John 6:28-29 ESV).

And I say, AMEN!
