The Gospel of John 17:11 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.” (John 17:11 KJV).

This passage is one of the Lord’s most profound parting prayer pleas of love for His beloved disciples. These young apostles sought the Lord, and the Father has given them to be His own. Earlier, the Lord warned them out of love, being pioneer pillars of faith, that they will face intense trials. That’s on account of their relationship with Him and the Father while still in the world. The Lord promised that He will not leave them orphans, as He will send the Holy Spirit to be with and in them. Ensuring they are well-covered, now the Lord Jesus prays for the Father’s divine protection to keep them secured with the authority and power of His name. We, when we follow the road of faith they have travelled, being the now disciples of Christ Jesus, have these promises, as well. We are born again into the kingdom of God by grace through faith in Him. We are now co-heirs with Him (Romans 8:17) as children of our Heavenly Father (Galatians 3:26).

This prayer of the Lord to the Father beseeching Him to be mindful of them our early examples of faith and by extension to us now who are born again by faith in Christ Jesus, echoes the psalmist’s hymns of praise. It is written: “When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor.” (Psalm 8:3-5 ESV).

And I say, AMEN!
