When God Says …
“The locusts have no king, Yet go they forth all of them by bands;” (Proverbs 30:27 KJV)
Locusts are seemingly harmless and small, but enormously destructive gregarious insects. They are useful examples though, how to cohesively work together, even with no leader telling them what to do. They function like an army on a mission of swift demolition with no one roaring a marching order. They do their part on their own volition in orderly fashion. They move from one area of vegetation to another, flying on a set pattern and formation, with no one nor GPS guiding them. Such an amazing picture it is of cooperation and unity.
This passage is therefore giving us a nudge to reflect on the wisdom of these tiny creatures that can work as a unit. Yet, humanity who are created in God's image could not? Isn’t that a slap on the face, watching all the bickering, the divisions, the tearing apart and stepping on each other to get the bigger piece of the pie? Indeed, we are to learn lessons from these little pests to work with one accord in our own accord.
As children of God by faith in Christ Jesus, resting in His grace, we are called to be of one mind with one another. It is written: “May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.” (Romans 15:5-7 ESV)
And I say, AMEN!
