The Gospel of John 16:33 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33 KJV).

In this passage, the Lord Jesus Christ reminds us that we are in a cursed world, dominion of which Adam reneged to Satan at their encounter in the garden. The power of the world is under his realm of control. Hence, we are warned of adversity to be faced with. But now, in the Lord’s completed work of salvation, this power in the world was defeated when He fulfilled the Father’s will to go to the cross. Through the cross and the grave, He broke the power of sin and death, by His dying sacrifice and resurrection. He brought peace and immortality to our lives as we believe and receive Him to be our Savior. He ensured that death is silenced and not anymore have the final say. Our Lord Jesus Christ has overcome the world in total victory.

Now, in this post-resurrection period of the Lord’s dispensation of grace through faith in Him, we are no longer facing a battle to fight for victory. In Christ Jesus, as He declared ‘be of good cheer; I have overcome the world’, we are assured that our battle is now a fight from the ground of victory! We are in a lopsided battle in our favor against the forces that control the world. Our victory is already won! Hence, it is fitting for us to take to heart and believe by resting is His grace, as it is written: “The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Corinthians 15:56-57 ESV).

And I say, AMEN!
