“And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments: and as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead?” (Luke 24:4-5 KJV).
These passages give insights on the supernatural reality of the resurrection and a shift away from human limitation. These provide several core spiritual realities of new way of living in grace by faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.
The women came to the tomb with spices and oils to anoint a dead body, operating entirely in natural, human logic. Hence, this brings to awareness that when we, behave as the world does, trying to solve our modern problems—like sickness, lack, or depression—purely through carnal logic of thinking, we are essentially "seeking the living among the dead". But, because of our Lord’s resurrection, believers have the right to think supernaturally and expect God’s abundant supply for living rather than dwelling on dead situations.
These highlight that the women were "greatly perplexed" and terrified. It points out that confusion, fear and anxiety enter our lives when we fail to remember or pay attention to what our Lord Jesus Christ has already spoken and accomplished. The angels had to remind them of His words. And it goes to all of us, as well. When you meditate on the truth that our Lord has already finished the work on the cross, our heart is guarded against fear and opened to miracles.
In this instance, we note that yes, they were perplexed because they were focused on their lost expectations for a dead body, rather than the living Redeemer. This emphasizes that as New Covenant believers, we look forward to the resurrection and the Rapture to come, not the grave. Our Lord Jesus is not a historic teacher trapped in religious custom and tradition. He is a living Savior who actively infuses in us His resurrection energy, bringing physical strength, healing, wholeness and life. This, our Lord Jesus revealed to Martha way before this moment. We must always be in the know that our Lord - “Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?” She said to him, “Yes, Lord; I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who is coming into the world.”” (John 11:25-27 ESV).
And I say, AMEN!
