“Harsh discipline is for him who forsakes the way, And he who hates correction will die.” (Proverbs 15:10 NKJV)
Here’s a pop up alert! When we stray from God’s ways, and we do with the twists and turns that we have to go through in this world, we can expect serious nudging. Yes, one whom He loves, if he forsakes the way of the Lord, will be meted with harsh discipline. And, rejecting His correction leads to dire consequence of death. We should be conscious and sensitive to the pain of correction. That’s our cue to conduct a self - examination. Own up our transgressions before Him. Come before the throne of grace of our Lord Jesus Christ (Hebrews 4:16). Stop and turn to Him! Then, take refuge under the renewing power of His mercy.
In Him, we are spared from death which is the consequence of sinful and wicked ways. Jesus loves us. As we come to Him, we are cleansed from all unrighteousness. He purchased us by His blood. By grace through faith in Christ Jesus, we are called "my loved one" and "children of the living God." (Romans 9:25, 26) The scriptures assure us with these words: "And have you forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as sons? “My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, nor be weary when reproved by him. For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and chastises every son whom he receives.” (Hebrews 12:5, 6 ESV)
And I say, AMEN!
