“In the house of the righteous there is much treasure, But in the revenue of the wicked is trouble.” (Proverbs 15:6 NKJV)
He declares exceeding provisions of both material and spiritual, in the house of those who trust and depend on the Almighty God through faith in Jesus. His purpose is to bless in order to be a blessing (2 Corinthians 9:8).
This passage is pointing us to prosperity. On the one hand you have the righteous man, and this verse tells us that in his house there is much wealth. He is a prosperous man!
In the second half of the verse, tells us of the ungodly. He’s got some material increase, too. He has inflows coming in, and it may be that his yields are pretty good. But, unfortunately his revenue is mixed with trouble!
This is a statement of reality. The way things are. This is not telling us to go out and get rich. This enlightens us to let righteousness reign in our house and provide right ambience for heavenly treasures.
When it says that in the house of the righteous there is much treasure, it is a statement of fact. It is a stereotype. In amazing way, treasures in many forms, including health, joy, peace, abound in the house of a man whose faith is in Christ Jesus. As a righteous man does his mettle, blessings pour in without struggle to chase it. Yes, he encounters challenges from time to time being still in this world. That's the world's staple. But, as he goes through dark valleys where health, joy and peace are tested, he’s got God’s assurance: “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for You are with me (Psalm 23:4a NIV).”
In Christ, by grace through faith, he's not alone. He's got help imported from heaven. He is blessed! Blessings pursue the person who depends in the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ. And, the Psalmist affirms that declaration, as he writes - “Praise the Lord! Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who greatly delights in his commandments! His offspring will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed. Wealth and riches are in his house, and his righteousness endures forever."(Psalms 112:1-3 ESV)
And I say, AMEN!
