When God Says …
“He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.” (John 14:24 KJV).
This passage brings a subtle reminder with a very serious warning. Those who do not love God in the person of Christ Jesus who came in the flesh for us to see, do not really keep His Words. He further revealed plainly that keeping His Words and/or commands is by believing in Him (John 6:29). Yes, it is by believing that the Holy Spirit comes and lives in us to lead and guide us (Romans 8:9). The Holy Spirit tenderly leads us to surrender totally and depend on His grace, giving Him the sovereignty of our lives. Then, we can give Him our consent to love us, like the lost sheep in the Lord's parable in Luke 15:3-7.
We must realize the truth: only God can work in us to love. We must let Him love us first! God is love (1 John 4:8). It is not by our self effort to work it out. It is by resting in His grace and let the Spirit bear the fruit of love from within us (Galatians 5:22).
He warned us that the Words He speaks are not His. These are from the Father who sent Him. Not believing His Words has eternal ramification for us. These must always be rooted in our hearts. As His redeemed - born again by believing, we are called children of The Most High God - The Father. The Scriptures warned, as it is written: “Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.” (John 3:18 ESV).
And I say, AMEN!
