When God Says …
“If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.” (John 15:6 KJV).
In this passage the Lord Jesus continues on the analogy using the picture of the vinedresser, who is the person of the Father, cutting off dead branches to illustrate that those who pretend to have faith loitering around but not really connected to the source of eternal life are not truly saved. They are dead branches. Like Judas, who was able to get in the Lord's inner circle, He was not clean (John 13:10-11). Hence, not saved. Giving the image of fire in hell, those cleared branches that are detached from the vine, as Judas was, they whither. They are gathered and thrown into the fire and burned. Such a graphic picture it is to languish in eternity.
Hell is not an option. This passage's illustration is a pop up alert for the unbelieving world to connect with the vine. That, they can do by believing in the only Son of God (John 6:29). Then, come to the throne of grace by the finished work on the cross through faith in Christ Jesus to obtain mercy (Hebrews 4:16). And, to those who are saved, this reminds us to remain abiding by faith in the vine, focused on Christ Jesus the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). Torment is not an option. Scriptures describe: “And the smoke of their torment will rise for ever and ever. There will be no rest day or night for those who worship the beast and its image, or for anyone who receives the mark of its name.”” (Revelation 14:11 NIV).
And I say, AMEN!
