The Gospel of Luke 2:41-42 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the passover. And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast.” (Luke 2:41-42 KJV).

The Lord Jesus Christ who was born in flesh under the covenant of the law is revealed in these passages attending the yearly Passover feast celebration in Jerusalem with His earthly parents. Though born like us, we should note that in the flesh He is the true image of the Father (Colossians 1:15), those who have seen Him, have seen the Father (John 14:9). He came to fulfill the law, and grew abiding with His earthly parents following the observance of all the commandments of the law given through Moses.

These describe an event when he was twelve years old, visiting the temple in Jerusalem with his parents, Joseph and Mary, during the Feast of the Passover. It highlights His Jewish upbringing and customs of His family under the law.

The Feast of the Passover was one of the most important festivals in the Jewish calendar of remembrance. It is the commemoration of the liberation of the Israelites from their slavery in Egypt. It's a time for the Jewish people to come together in Jerusalem to offer sacrifices and participate in communal celebrations. By going to Jerusalem for the feast, the young Christ Jesus and his family were fulfilling their covenant duty. These passages set a pivotal point for the Lord's spiritual identity and mission. These provide insight into His upbringing, His obedience to God’s covenant with the Jewish nation, and foreshadow His predestined role as the ultimate Passover sacrifice. Hence Scriptures remind us, children of God by faith Him, to -“Cleanse out the old leaven that you may be a new lump, as you really are unleavened. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed.” (1 Corinthians 5:7 ESV).

And I say, AMEN!
