“And when they had performed all things according to the law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own city Nazareth. And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him.” (Luke 2:39-40 KJV).
These passages are amazing to reflect on. God came to visit our world in the person of our Lord Jesus Christ. It began with a baby dressed in flesh being born and then growing up like you and I. This natural process of human nature for God, the Creator, to go through (Colossians 1:16), boggles our limited human mind. But, we must recognize that He is God Almighty! He calls into existence the things that do not exist (Romans 4:17b). There’s nothing hard (Genesis 8:14; Jeremiah 32:27) nor impossible for Him (Luke 1:37)!
The amazing part of these passages is not that God placed His favor on the Lord Jesus Christ, but that He favored us by choosing to share with our human experiences. That's amazing! And why did He do it? So we would know that He has been where we are; and so we would call out to Him to save us by total dependence in His grace in our times of struggle, weakness, vulnerability and temptation. Scriptures assure us with apostle Paul’s testimony, “But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” (2 Corinthians 12:9-10 ESV).
And I say, AMEN!
