The Gospel of Luke 2:48-49 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing. And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business?” (Luke 2:48-49 KJV).

The child Messiah, clothe in flesh physically growing, had an increasing sense of purpose. While He would apprentice in Joseph's carpentry shop (Matthew 13:55; Mark 6:3). He was pulled to be doing about His heavenly Father's business. An Old Testament passage that was pointing to Him in the act of cleansing the Temple later in His ministry reads, "Passion for your house has consumed me." (Psalms 69:9; John 2:17). That passion starts to manifest in Him as He turned 12 years old.

This is an alert for us to keep in mind the growing stages of our children or grandchildren (or nephews or nieces), and not to hesitate to prepare and teach them how important it is that God should always reign in their hearts and that His holy plans must always be the pulling force of their choices! Yes, God’s plans for each of us has already been established before the beginning of time. It is set before the foundation of the world. Our part is to be in sync with His plan by resting in His grace by faith in Christ Jesus.

The Holy Spirit and His Words will lead us to do our Father’s business and will, being His Children in Christ. Scriptures remind us this: “In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will, so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of his glory.” (Ephesians 1:11-12 ESV).

And I say, AMEN!
