The Gospel of John 1:32-34 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him. And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost. And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.” (John 1:32-34 KJV)

This vision described by John, as he baptized Jesus, is a spiritual phenomenon emanating from heaven. It is a sign given to him from heaven so he can testify who the Son of God is, whose path he was sent to prepare. He did not know Him (v.33). Though John the Baptist show a sign of recognition of the Messiah when they were both in their mothers' womb (Luke 1:41), these passages reveal that they both grew as normal kids, unmindful of their calling. The timing for manifestation of their missions were set in heaven.

He knew the sign revealed to him that the One on whom the Holy Spirit coming like a Dove rests on, He is the Son of God. Now, He, who John did not know, is made known to him through the vision of the Holy Spirit descending from heaven resting upon Jesus. The chosen Son of God is revealed. For our sakes, the Lord Jesus was chosen before the foundation of the world to restore us with God by grace through faith in Him! (1 Peter 1:20).

And, we, all of us who seek Him, receive Him and rest in His grace by faith, are chosen to be sons and daughters of God. It is written: “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved.” (Ephesians 1:3-6 ESV)

And I say, AMEN!
