The Gospel of John 1:37-38 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus. Then Jesus turned, and saw them following, and saith unto them, What seek ye? They said unto him, Rabbi, (which is to say, being interpreted, Master,) where dwellest thou?” (John 1:37-38 KJV)

These two young disciples of John the Baptist, who heard him speaks about the Messiah passing by, are great models of true seekers. They did not waste time to respond when their mentor directed them over to the One he proclaimed and of whom he prepared the path for. When he said: "Behold the Lamb of God!” they quickly followed Him. True to God's holy and written Words saying "those who seek will find" (Matthew 7:7), these young men found the Lord that they've been seeking for. Their interest to know where He stayed revealed their intent to know Him intimately. Addressing Him Master affirmed their desire to follow Him. Which attitude, we too should have. We will not be disappointed. James 4:8a says: “Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.”

This is a very reassuring demonstration of the Lord's grace when we faithfully seek Him. In whatever state we are in, even the Israelites during their worst plight of exile, they had God's promise. For us too, by faith in Him, in whatever mess we're in. We will find Him and He restores us. As to the Israelites in diaspora, His Words say, (and these Words are for us, as well): “You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you, declares the Lord, and I will restore your fortunes and gather you from all the nations and all the places where I have driven you, declares the Lord, and I will bring you back to the place from which I sent you into exile." (Jeremiah 29:13-14 ESV)

And I say, AMEN!
