Proverbs 15:27 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“He who is greedy for gain troubles his own house, But he who hates bribes will live.” (Proverbs 15:27 NKJV)

This reminds of Achan's fate when he took some spoils from Jericho which God sternly forbidden. Jericho was the first city the Israelites took possession of after they crossed the Jordan river. Because of his greed and disobedience against God's command, Achan and his whole family were stoned to death (Joshua 7:1-25).

Yes, greed can be deadly. Thankfully, in this post-resurrection dispensation of grace, everyone is made alive by God's mercy (Ephesians 2:4-5 NIV). The Lord Jesus came with grace and truth. Hence, to the Pharisees and so-called observers of the law who wanted to stone a woman caught in adultery, He said to them: “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” (John 8:7 NIV)

In these days of God’s grace, there may not be physical stoning, but greediness has its dire consequences. It brings God’s curse and wrath (Colossians 3:5-6 NIV). Greed makes a person susceptible to dishonest favors and inducements. Even worse it makes a person follow the cue of wickedness, taking advantage on their victims. 

The psalmist reveals their modus operandi. It’s not a model to follow. As believers in Jesus, by His grace, we are to follow His cue of righteousness. The Psalmist gave these revealing words of warning: "The wicked borrow and do not repay, but the righteous give generously; those the Lord blesses will inherit the land, but those he curses will be destroyed.” (Psalm 37:21, 22 NIV) 

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 15:26 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the Lord, But the words of the pure are pleasant.” (Proverbs 15:26 NKJV)

He affirms His abhorrence of the filthy mindset of the ungodly. They fully operate against God's will. Their thoughts collide gravely against His Words. Their stubborn rejection of God and His Word marinates them in evil imaginings. Lord Jesus exposé them when He said: "You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart." (Matthew 5:27, 28 ESV) They need God's grace, as we all do, by receiving the Lordship Jesus through faith. 

Yes, it all sprouts from the heart. Hence, our hearts must be filled and soaked day by day with the spring of living water of God's Words. What's in our heart dictates our thought which springs forth in our words and in our living. Lord Jesus declared these truths in the beatitudes: "The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks." (Luke 6:45 ESV)

So, as children of God by faith in Jesus, our mouth ought to bear fruit of praise, as the Psalmist proclaims: "My mouth is filled with your praise, declaring your splendor all day long." (Psalm 71:8 NIV) 

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 15:25 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“The Lord will destroy the house of the proud, But He will establish the boundary of the widow.” (Proverbs 15:25 NKJV)

Warning bells ring: Arrogance, beware! Pride, beware! The cost is hefty! Act of arrogance crosses the sacred line towards taking the place of God. It draws the ire of Him our sovereign Creator and Savior in whom alone we depend. He alone we worship! He warns, as it is written: "I will break your proud spirit by making the skies as unyielding as iron and the earth as hard as bronze. All your work will be for nothing, for your land will yield no crops, and your trees will bear no fruit." (Leviticus 26:19, 20 NLT)

But, when by grace of our Lord Jesus Christ through faith in Him, we surrender in meekness, our border is secured. He will establish us, like an orphan or a widow - that we are, consecrated for His divine purpose. We have God’s shield. And, He declares this promise - “Do not be afraid; you will not be put to shame. Do not fear disgrace; you will not be humiliated. You will forget the shame of your youth and remember no more the reproach of your widowhood. For your Maker is your husband-the Lord Almighty is his name— the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; he is called the God of all the earth."(Isaiah 54:4-5 NIV)

We have this assurance:” But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one.” (2 Thessalonians 3:3 ESV)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 15:23-24 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“A man has joy by the answer of his mouth, And a word spoken in due season, how good it is! The way of life winds upward for the wise, That he may turn away from hell below.” (Proverbs 15:23, 24 NKJV)

He reaffirms the power of uplifting words we speak. It is good for our soul. Words of God our mouth declares, hearkens our spirit and those around us who need it. And, we all need stirring. It energizes to propel our life in a heavenly trajectory.

The sustaining power of His word helps the wise from being swallowed by the tempestuous flame of hell. All the time is the right time for us to be ready with our mouth's utterance of words of wisdom. Being children of God by faith in Christ Jesus, as Apostle Paul charged Timothy, we are also commissioned to be in preparedness at all seasons to be edified to edify. It is written: "I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching." (2 Timothy 4:1, 2 ESV)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 15:22 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“Without counsel, plans go awry, But in the multitude of counselors they are established.” (Proverbs 15:22 NKJV)

He sheds light on the importance of good advice as an integral part of successful planning, decision making and implementation. It is a process of due diligence to gather as much unbiased independent inputs from varying perspectives in light of Godly wisdom.

The first and foremost source of such counsel is the Holy Spirit of God, by prayer and by His holy and written Word. As we pray and allow His Word to speak to us in our meditation and reflection, God positions people of experience in their walk with God to counsel and help us where needed. Their encounters in life, mirrored on God’s Word, are tips we can use as catalysts to establish our plans. In most cases their counsels sound contrary to the help we expect and want. But, we must beware, when we go against the advice we sought for which God gives, we will end up in a quagmire.

It is a fact that the best advice is always one we have not heard before or perhaps have heard but not in sync with what we thought we want. Well, God knows what's best for us. What we want may not be the best for us. If we heed His counsel, He will establish us supernaturally with abundant blessings from heaven.

As children of God, by faith in Christ Jesus, our help comes not from the world. It’s not from science. And, certainly, it is not from religion. It is from heaven – God supplies all our need! It is written, as Apostle Paul declares: "And my God will liberally supply (fill to the full) your every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19 AMP)

Apostle Peter affirms with this declaration: "His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire." (2 Peter 1:3-4 ESV)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 15:21 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“Folly is joy to him who is destitute of discernment, But a man of understanding walks uprightly.” (Proverbs 15:21 NKJV)

He exposes a prominent attribute of a fool. He is one who takes pleasure in temptations. One who takes mindlessly all baits dangled before him, and swallows it greedily without dread of the hook. He enjoys in his follies. With heart bereft of conviction, he does not care whose life he wrecks in the process, especially his.

That is not the way of the upright, whose trust is in The Lord. As believers in Jesus, we are to walk wisely with purpose as Apostle Paul exhorts in these words: "Look carefully then how you walk! Live purposefully and worthily and accurately, not as the unwise and witless, but as wise (sensible, intelligent people), Making the very most of the time [buying up each opportunity], because the days are evil." (Ephesians 5:15, 16 AMP)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 15:20 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...


“A wise son makes a father glad, But a foolish man despises his mother.” (Proverbs 15:20 NKJV)

This should make us reflect with wonder how foolish a person could be to despise the one who gives everything she has to nurture and to love. As sons and daughters, we are God's precious gift to our parents. Without any experience, they gave everything they have and the best they can to bring us up to where we are. In God's grace through their faith in Christ Jesus, they position us to receive God's favors,

Talking about parents whose trust is in the Lord Jesus Christ, with all the deficiencies they may have had (all fall short from God's glory - Romans 3:23), God commands us to honor our father and mother in the 5th commandment, not based on our standards (they won't meet it). It is a heavenly command, with a promise for those who are wise.

Yes, a wise child, as we ought to be, is a delight not only to our earthly fathers, but most all to our Heavenly Father. He promised long and abundant life if we obey and honor our parents, as it is written- "Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.” (Exodus 20:12 ESV)

And I say, AMEN!

Such a glorious day it is to remember. The Almighty God of heaven, entered the earth He created. He clothed Himself in human flesh, to be with us, so that we can be with Him, forever!

"And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." (John 1:14 KJV)

Proverbs 15:19 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“The way of the lazy man is like a hedge of thorns, But the way of the upright is a highway.”(Proverbs 15:19 NKJV)

A warning sign is seen flashing: Obstruction! Obstruction! Obstruction! Yes, laziness is an obstruction to blessings and prosperity. It drives off opportunities like thorny thickets repel would-be intruders. It's like bushes of dense poison ivy, standing harmless to repulse promising adventurers.

Absence of clear pathways due to laziness enables briers and thorns to grow on the way of the sloth. Over time it becomes a hedge of thorns against God's favors. Dearth awaits the lazy.

But, the diligence of the upright is manifest in the smooth road he walks on. Consistency and frequency of passage and activity prevent the thistles and thorns to grow on its path. Life teems and thrives for the righteous. He honors God in his work - which is the way we should go, as believers in Jesus - resting in His grace. Our worship should be reflected in the works that we do, as the scripture exhorts with these words: “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. Anyone who does wrong will be repaid for their wrongs, and there is no favoritism.”(Colossians 3:23-25 NIV)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 15:18 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“A wrathful man stirs up strife, But he who is slow to anger allays contention.” (Proverbs 15:18 NKJV)

We are warned that in our life critters sneak in to create trouble. They have semblance to a relative, to a friend, to a co-worker, to a partner, or to an agent of good tidings. But, behind the façade, their hearts are filled with wrath. It deems to have the presence of peacemakers when they are around. In their wake follows contentions and wreckage of destroyed relationships and wounded being. We could ask ourselves - would that be me? God forbid!

Well, if so - we sadly are, time to turn around! Praises be to God, there's someone who we can turn to for mending and restoration. One who loves us so much, that it won’t matter who and what we are. He meets us where we are at. He prefers to cross path with broken, sick and sinful people. He is the restorer of life! He said: ‘I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.” (Mark 2:17b)

His mercies endure forever. His name is Jesus. Let's surrender to Him, rest in His grace by faith and plead like the Psalmist did, as it is written: "Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.” (Psalms 51:9, 10 KJV)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 15:16-17 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“Better is a little with the fear of the Lord, Than great treasure with trouble. Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, Than a fatted calf with hatred.” (Proverbs 15:16, 17 NKJV)

He gives us awareness that to be blessed is not always in abundance of possessions and having a table of sumptuous feast. True blessings come in the fear of God and the reign of His love. There is risk in possessions placed in the wrong position. It can take God's rightful First place in our hearts. Lord Jesus warns: "What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit their very self?” (Luke 9:25 NIV) 

Not espousing the doctrine of vow of poverty, this passage declares the fact that it is better to have less of the worldly things with awe and reverent fear of God. While having much treasures of the world without the presence of God's grace in Christ Jesus, bring turmoil. The warning of the Lord Jesus is dire and serious. In one of His parables, about the man who devoted his life accumulating material things, Lord Jesus said: "But God said to him, 'You fool!' This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?' (Luke 12:20 NIV)

Giving us a picture of two dinner tables, (no offense intended to vegans) we see a table providing sumptuous fill in a vegan dinner served with love than a steak dinner grilled in hate. Great treasure and/or luxury (vegan or carnivore, no distinction) could take us away from the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, if He is not rightfully seated by faith on the throne of our hearts. He further warns: "“No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.” (Matthew 6:24 NIV)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 15:15 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

 When God says...

“All the days of the afflicted are evil, But he who is of a merry heart has a continual feast.” (Proverbs 15:15 NKJV)

He challenges us to have the right attitude towards life. It is said: 'Attitude determines altitude.' If the way we see things is like seeing a glass of water as "half empty" instead of "half full", we are pushing our direction of thinking to despondence and affliction. If we allow that kind of attitude unhindered, we would be held captive by evil days of anxieties and depressions.

Rather, as believers in Jesus whose faith is in Him dependent on His grace, we are to wear the face of joy and bear a heart of gladness. We should nurture our mind with uplifting thoughts. Our view of things is of hope and optimism. Let's look at the glass of water as 'half full.' That way, our mind is attuned to a favorable expectation. Our hearts are kept in a merry and festive mode always, as Apostle Paul exhorts us with these words -"Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:4-7 NIV)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 15:14 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“The heart of him who has understanding seeks knowledge, But the mouth of fools feeds on foolishness.” (Proverbs 15:14 NKJV)

He reemphasizes the importance of keeping our heart in the right posture of understanding, to seek more knowledge of God and His ways from His holy and written Word. Not from the world! Not from fake media! And, certainly not from corrupt politicians! Not from religion, too! His Word is "a lamp for our feet and a light on our path" (Psalms 119:105). So, let not our mouth speaks of foolishness and arrogance like a fool. It is written: "Talk no more so very proudly, let not arrogance come from your mouth; for the Lord is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed." (1 Samuel 2:3 ESV)

Rather, as the redeemed of the Lord by grace through faith in Christ Jesus, we sustain our being "on every word that comes from the mouth of God" (Matthew 4:4).  And, we are to use our lips to declare those words of edification as Apostle Paul exhorts: "Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice.” (Ephesians 4:29-31 NIV)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 15:13 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“A merry heart makes a cheerful countenance, But by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.” (Proverbs 15:13 NKJV)

This reminds what Apostle Paul wrote to the Philippians: “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.” (Philippians 4:4-5 NIV)

Whatever situation we're in, we have good reasons to rejoice. Not because of our circumstance, but because He is with us in every circumstance we are in. As we receive the Lordship of our Lord Jesus Christ by faith, we rest in the comfort of His grace. We may go through dark valleys of trials. But, He'll get us through to the mountain top of victory. His promise is very reassuring, as the Psalmist declares: “Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever.”(Psalm 23:6 NLT)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 15:12 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“A scoffer does not love one who corrects him, Nor will he go to the wise.” (Proverbs 15:12 NKJV)

Here it is the reason why a scoffer is a scoffer. A scoffer is one who not only disregards correction, but abhors it, especially the one who delivers the correction. He hates corrections from God's Word. A scoffer detests it because he is an arrogant fool. Now we know!

God gives us this awareness so that we do not behave like a scoffer and miss learning God's ways for abundant and blessed life. We have to get rid of the cloak of pride and put on the garment of humility. Open our hearts to His correction and counsel through His holy and written Word.

By faith in Christ Jesus, resting in His grace, let's allow Him to hold our hand. He'll lead and receive us to honor and glory, as the Psalmist declares: "For my heart was grieved, embittered, and in a state of ferment, and I was pricked in my heart [as with the sharp fang of an adder]. So foolish, stupid, and brutish was I, and ignorant; I was like a beast before You. Nevertheless I am continually with You; You do hold my right hand. You will guide me with Your counsel, and afterward receive me to honor and glory.”(Psalm 73:21-24 AMP)

Proverbs 15:11 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“Hell and Destruction are before the Lord; So how much more the hearts of the sons of men.“(Proverbs 15:11 NKJV)

He intimates upon us that, He being the Omniscient and Omnipresent God that He is, He knows the enormity of the dangers of hell and eternal death. At the same time, He sees what's in our heart - our deepest secret and our weakest vulnerability. And, He knowing the contents of our hearts, when we wallow in sin headed to the unimaginable dangers of Hell, because of His matchless love for us - we being His creative masterpiece (Ephesians 2:10), He sent His only Son our Lord Jesus Christ to save us. He is the reason for this season's celebration.

As heaven is real, hell is real. Whether one believes it or not, does not change the reality and truth of its existence. That’s a reality as clear as a sunny day. His word warns that people who stray out of God's grace by doing things against His ways is headed for destruction in hell. They will have a taste of hell even in this life in their troubles being the consequence of wayward actions. Not all problems are caused by the devil and his minions. It can be caused by man’s wrong actions or failure to do what is right. Doing right is believing in Jesus (John 6:29), relying in His grace (2 Corinthians 12:9) and total dependence on the guidance of the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:11-14).

Trouble is not what God intends for us in this physical dimension. His intention is to prosper us, to be full of vigor and to be full of peace. His plan for us is to be blessed to be a blessing. When people bless people, people bless people. Hell is defeated. There is joy even in unpleasant condition. There is harmony even in the midst of chaos. Love reigns when Jesus is seated on the throne of our hearts. And, trouble becomes the refining fire that brings purity to our spirit.

As we accept Him our personal Lord and Savior, be born again in spirit and transformed, He gives us the right to be children of God (John 1:12). As His children, we have these words of guidance written in our hearts: "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” (John 13:34, 35 ESV)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 15:10 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“Harsh discipline is for him who forsakes the way, And he who hates correction will die.” (Proverbs 15:10 NKJV)

Here’s a pop up alert! When we stray from God’s ways, and we do with the twists and turns that we have to go through in this world, we can expect serious nudging. Yes, one whom He loves, if he forsakes the way of the Lord, will be meted with harsh discipline. And, rejecting His correction leads to dire consequence of death. We should be conscious and sensitive to the pain of correction. That’s our cue to conduct a self - examination. Own up our transgressions before Him. Come before the throne of grace of our Lord Jesus Christ (Hebrews 4:16). Stop and turn to Him! Then, take refuge under the renewing power of His mercy. 

In Him, we are spared from death which is the consequence of sinful and wicked ways. Jesus loves us. As we come to Him, we are cleansed from all unrighteousness. He purchased us by His blood. By grace through faith in Christ Jesus, we are called "my loved one" and "children of the living God." (Romans 9:25, 26) The scriptures assure us with these words: "And have you forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as sons? “My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, nor be weary when reproved by him. For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and chastises every son whom he receives.” (Hebrews 12:5, 6 ESV)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 15:8-9 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord, But the prayer of the upright is His delight. The way of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord, But He loves him who follows righteousness. “(Proverbs 15:8-9 NKJV)

He declares that His delight is in our way of righteousness. He loves us so much that He abhors it when we pray and seek His counsel for help, yet we don't follow His promptings. When we turn away from His ways, we stray out of His favors, and head towards the curse in wickedness.

Our Heavenly Father loves to delight in our prayers, in our offerings, in our sacrifices and in our worships. But, its aroma is blocked by the wall of disobedience. We have to break the wall by welcoming and accepting Jesus as our personal Lord and Savior. His shed blood washes away the mud of disobedience and sin. We become righteous in His eyes. He sends the Holy Spirit to help us walk uprightly before Him. Not before the eyes of men and the world. Apart from Him, we always fail the mark (Romans 3:23).

Faith in our Lord Jesus Christ puts us right in the eyes of our heavenly Father. When we receive His Lordship by faith, the Holy Spirit bear His fruit in us. Obedience that comes from faith (Romans 1:5) is better than sacrifice. It is written: "And Samuel said, “Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to listen than the fat of rams." (1 Samuel 15:22 ESV)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 15:7 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“The lips of the wise disperse knowledge, But the heart of the fool does not do so.” (Proverbs 15:7 NKJV)

He enlightens us that we not only obtain knowledge to be wise, but also must disperse it by declaration of our lips and manifestation in our lives. In essence, wisdom is knowledge applied. It is a great misfortune to have knowledge received but neither dispersed nor imparted nor applied for right living. That would be a disappointing waste of valuable gift. Indeed, only a fool does that.

Knowledge of salvation with its reality in our life is God's most precious gift to us all. It must be put to active and productive application in our day to day lives. As children of God, by grace through faith in Christ Jesus, we are reminded to declare with our lips living Words of faith from our heart. We are to self-talk those truths into our being and share with others to propel the power of God's spoken Words to fulfill its good purpose in us and the people around us.

Having our faith in Jesus, for those who received His Lordship and have been born again in spirit by grace, we are a chosen vessel of such amazing gift. He is sending us to proclaim the gospel to the whole creation (Mark 16:15). Apostle Paul's declaration is the posture we, the Lord's redeemed, should take. He said: "For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes:" (Romans 1:16a NIV) 

When His holy and written Word is proclaimed God promised, as it is written: "For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it." (Isaiah 55:10-11 ESV)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 15:6 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“In the house of the righteous there is much treasure, But in the revenue of the wicked is trouble.” (Proverbs 15:6 NKJV)

He declares exceeding provisions of both material and spiritual, in the house of those who trust and depend on the Almighty God through faith in Jesus. His purpose is to bless in order to be a blessing (2 Corinthians 9:8).

This passage is pointing us to prosperity. On the one hand you have the righteous man, and this verse tells us that in his house there is much wealth. He is a prosperous man!

In the second half of the verse, tells us of the ungodly. He’s got some material increase, too. He has inflows coming in, and it may be that his yields are pretty good. But, unfortunately his revenue is mixed with trouble!

This is a statement of reality. The way things are. This is not telling us to go out and get rich. This enlightens us to let righteousness reign in our house and provide right ambience for heavenly treasures.

When it says that in the house of the righteous there is much treasure, it is a statement of fact. It is a stereotype. In amazing way, treasures in many forms, including health, joy, peace, abound in the house of a man whose faith is in Christ Jesus. As a righteous man does his mettle, blessings pour in without struggle to chase it. Yes, he encounters challenges from time to time being still in this world. That's the world's staple. But, as he goes through dark valleys where health, joy and peace are tested, he’s got God’s assurance: “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for You are with me (Psalm 23:4a NIV).”

In Christ, by grace through faith, he's not alone. He's got help imported from heaven. He is blessed! Blessings pursue the person who depends in the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ. And, the Psalmist affirms that declaration, as he writes - “Praise the Lord! Blessed is the man who fears the Lord, who greatly delights in his commandments! His offspring will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed. Wealth and riches are in his house, and his righteousness endures forever."(Psalms 112:1-3 ESV)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 15:5 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“A fool despises his father’s instruction, But he who receives correction is prudent.” (Proverbs 15:5 NKJV)

We are provided with strikingly conspicuous markers of a fool and of a prudent, so we can be mindful of how we should behave. These markers help us keep our attitude in check. If we make use of these markers as warning signs, when we act with contemptuous arrogance against our earthly father's counsel and instruction through God's Word, we will be prompted deep within that we are behaving as a fool. That would be a time to reset. But, if one chooses to remain a fool, he won't want to learn from the experiences of others. He'd rather plunges himself into every costly mistakes, again and again and again!

On the other hand, the prudent uses these markers for the best of every opportunity. When the warning bell rings, he responds. He opens up to receive every counsel of wisdom and lessons of mistakes experienced by others mirrored on God's Words to save him from troubles of costly mistakes that he can mindfully avoid. That's how it should be in our Christian walk. We are not to behave like a fool, working hard to do good or bad, which what fools do but never gotten anything done resembling good. Truth be told, prudent or fool, no one can be good, apart from God. Lord Jesus said: “Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good—except God alone.” (Luke 18:19 NIV)

The only sure thing we can do is accept Jesus our redeemer by believing and be partakers, by His grace, of the work He has already done. Lord Jesus said: "... It is finished!, …" (John 19:30 KJV) And, in another occasion: "Then they said to Him, "What must we do, to be doing the works of God?" Jesus answered them: "This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent."" (John 6:28b-29 ESV)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 15:4 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“A wholesome tongue is a tree of life, But perverseness in it breaks the spirit.” (Proverbs 15:4 NKJV)

He continues to impel us to use our tongue as a source of life giving sustenance. When harnessed well with wisdom from God's word, with its wild tendency of fiery passion, our tongue can be a nourishing power for life. Its dictum has to be regularly refined by filling our hearts with regular intake of God's word.

In as much as we are still in this world, we have to keep our distance from the distortion and perverseness of its values. We are to keep ourselves sheltered in God's presence - in our meditations, in our prayers, in our worships and our times of solitude with God.

Yes, being saved by grace through faith in Christ Jesus, let us fill our hearts with the abundant treasure of God's living Word, as Lord Jesus revealed in this truth: "A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh." (Luke 6:45 KJV)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 15:3 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“The eyes of the Lord are in every place, Keeping watch on evil and the good.” (Proverbs 15:3 NKJV)

He assures us that by His grace, He cares for us. He loves us regardless of how we behave. Evil and good, He keeps watch our every move. He guides us by His Word. And, the Holy Spirit leads us if we choose to take the "good" route. He, who listens and responds to believe and rest in His grace, He guides! If we do, our place is secure. Favors and blessings abound wherever we are. It is not a matter of geographical location. It is a matter of WHO we are with! And, that is in the comfort of His presence!

We have the choice. Let's take the 'good' path of those who fear God. ‘Choose to be in the only way to the Father - our Lord Jesus Christ. He affirms to Thomas - “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." (John 14:6)

By faith, let’s walk in His way of grace. He blesses those who walk in His ways, as it is written: “Blessed are those, whose way is blameless, who walk in the law of the Lord! Blessed are those who keep his testimonies, who seek Him with their whole heart, who also do no wrong, but walk in His ways.” (Psalm 119:1-3 ESV)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 15:1-2 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“A soft answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger. The tongue of the wise uses knowledge rightly, But the mouth of fools pours forth foolishness.” (Proverbs 15:1-2 NKJV)

This is a directional passage drawing us to interact wisely in grace and kindness, by building our vocabulary with wholesome words that bring life and peace. We are to digest and speak words that proceed from the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4).

Foolish and destructive words accompanied by sarcasm or high decibels of threat or whispers to harm, wear out the bond of relationships - be it marriage, or family, or friendship, or business, or brotherhood, or any setting where it involves a two-way bond between individuals. Specially, careless words expressed by unbridled tongue that shoots critical projectile to harm, to label and to judge, dig a chasm of anger and distrust between two people who may even have been at one time bound by the strongest bond of marital union or brotherhood. No one is exempt from this pitfall.

We are blessed to have the power of repentance and forgiveness. God provides a re-set by His mercy and by grace through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. He sends the Holy Spirit to help us. He gives us His holy and written Word to guide us in believing, which is the work of God expected of us (John 6:29). Yes, we need His Word, as it is written: "All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:16, 17 NLT)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 14:35 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“The king’s favor is toward a wise servant, But his wrath is against him who causes shame.” (Proverbs 14:35 NKJV)

He reiterates His call for us to hold on to wisdom in all that we do. The path of wisdom may seem against the wind of the world. It would feel like swimming against the tide. But, if we just hang on for a little while, stay wise to rest in God's assurance, the head wind becomes the tailwind lifting us to soar over our situations. This reminds us the life of Joseph, who depended in God's wisdom to deal with the series of sufferings he encountered starting from the time he was sold by his brothers to slavery. Because of wisdom God has given him, from his jail cell, the king of Egypt ushered him second in command of the country, to save the people from famine. He was promoted from prisoner in Egypt to prime minister of Egypt.

On the contrary, a servant who brings evil, the king's wrath is upon him. That's what happened to Hamman, in the book of Esther, who was second in command to the king of Persia. He schemed to slew the Jews. He was thrown straight from the fame of power to the shame of the gallows, as it is written: "So they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. Then the king’s wrath subsided.” (Esther 7:10 NKJV)

As children of God through grace by faith in Christ Jesus, let's not be carried away by the wave of circumstances we face. Let's stay wise soaked by the power of His words, as Lord Jesus sends us with this instruction: “Behold, I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves, so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves."(Matthew 10:16 ESV)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 14:34 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“Righteousness exalts a nation, But sin is a reproach to any people.” (Proverbs 14:34 NKJV)

He prompts us to ask ourselves, where are we in the sight of God? As a nation and as individuals, are we turning away from Him? When we live out of God’s grace by not trusting in Jesus, we sin. God hates sin. Not only that it disappoints even those who also are sinners (sinners hate sinners!), it deprives us (and our nation) from the favors and blessings of God. Blessings for this life and most importantly for eternal life, could be lost because of rebellious act against God. Or, failing to do things we know to be good, as scripture says - "If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them.”(James 4:17 NIV)

The scriptures warn us - "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”(Romans 6:23 NIV)

Thanks be to God, we have the promise of eternal life in Christ Jesus. That is in His grace (Romans 5:21). Not by our good works (Ephesians 2:8-9); but "that you believe in Him whom He sent" (John 6:29). When we accept Him our Lord and Savior, He is our righteousness in the sight of God. Only then a nation is exalted and blessed. Apostle Paul reminds: "It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption.” (1 Corinthians 1:30 NIV)

So, being made righteous by faith is Jesus, we are warned with these words - "Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.” (1 Corinthians 6:9, 10 KJV)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 14:33 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says...

“Wisdom rests in the heart of him who has understanding, But what is in the heart of fools is made known.” (Proverbs 14:33 NKJV)

He makes it clear to you and I that when we open our spiritual ears to the Lord's holy and written Words, submit ourselves to God and be teachable, we gain wisdom. Our heart will have abundant resource needed for issues in life. Not for boasting. But, wisdom solidly settled in our hearts. Not for wisecrack sarcasm, which is a fool's ware that reveals who he is. A fool is always predictable. He opens his mouth with follies. His body language gives him away.

But, for him whose faith is in Christ and lives in His grace by faith, wisdom is his secret weapon. It is not for braggart display, which gains one nothing. But it is for righteous living to be blessed and be a blessing in this life and towards life to come.

With wisdom resting in our heart, we have peace. When help is needed due to challenges we face, Godly wisdom helps us grounded in the message of Christ. It propels us to support each other in love and thanksgiving by the promptings of the Holy Spirit, as Apostle Paul exhorts us with these words: "Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts."(Colossians 3:16 NIV)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 14:32 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“The wicked is banished in his wickedness, But the righteous has a refuge in his death.” (Proverbs 14:32 NKJV)

He gives us a profound warning against wickedness and a reassuring promise for righteousness. In this dimension of time and space, all our actions are subject to the law of cause and effect. Those who do things in wickedness and do not put their trust in Jesus, have no hope, as ominously cautioned by apostle Paul: "Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope.” (1 Thessalonians 4:13 NIV)

But those who are made righteous and do things led by the Holy Spirit, in His grace through faith in Christ Jesus, have hope. Yes, as we rest in the Lordship of Jesus in an intimate relationship with Him (not religion), we have a place of refuge even in death, as it is written: "For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep. For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. For, the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. Therefore encourage one another with these words." (1 Thessalonians 4:14-18 ESV)

Apostle Paul further testifies, that in Christ dying is not loss, as he declares - "For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain."(Philippians 1:21 KJV) 

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 14:31 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“He who oppresses the poor reproaches his Maker, But he who honors Him has mercy on the needy.” (Proverbs 14:31 NKJV)

He gives us a loving reminder to keep us in check, how we interact with the folks around us. How we behave in our relationships with our fellowmen mirrors our attitude in the eyes of our Creator. Specially, when we wear the badge as believers in Jesus, what we do (good or bad) will always reflect upon Him whose badge we carry. Anything we do against the direction of His word is a slap of disgrace upon Him.

We ought to behave in a way to give Him glory and honor. Not to please people around us. Authenticity is a necessity. As children of God, we are to serve by His badge of mercy as we've been given mercy. Rather than oppressing those who are in need, bless them and pray for them even if they deserve to be where they are. Jesus gave us life when we deserved death. He died for us when we were His enemies wallowing in sin destined to die (Romans 5:8-10), so that we shall live to be with Him in this realm and in eternal life. He loves us.

Let us not disappoint our Savior and Maker. Let's allow the Holy Spirit to lead and use us. Let's follow His cue to do His will by grace through faith in Jesus, so that He can declare for us, what Lord Jesus said in His parable of the faithful servant: "His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’" (Matthew 25:21 ESV)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 14:30 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“A sound heart is life to the body, But envy is rottenness to the bones.” (Proverbs 14:30 NKJV)

He challenges us to keep our heart in sound condition. The health of our heart determines the quality of our life and body, both physical and spiritual. In order to keep our heart in good shape, we are to take good food and proper exercise for the heart. As we are to eat healthy physical foods, we are to have regular in-take of pure spiritual food through God's words. We are to do regular spiritual cardio exercise, in love, in thanksgiving, in worship and walking in step with the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

When our heart is well fed and exercised (spiritually, that is), it is strong not to succumb to envy, hatred and any other forms of wickedness. Those are the agent of rottenness that go deep into the marrow of the bones. It destroys not just the physical body, but most importantly our spirit that leads to eternal life.

Hence, we are to strengthen the Spirit, residing in us through faith in Christ Jesus, by guarding our heart - keep it shielded from unwholesome words and tainted language of the world. They are vying for the attention of our senses. They labor hard to break in the gateways to our heart. 

As our heart is nourished well, our body, which is the temple of the Holy Spirit in Christ Jesus (1 Corinthians 6:19), will manifest His fruit (not envy, not rottenness), as it is written apostle Paul exhorts: "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.”(Galatians 5:22-26 NIV)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 14:29 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“He who is slow to wrath has great understanding, But he who is impulsive exalts folly.” (Proverbs 14:29 NKJV)

He cautions us to master our emotions. There is great cost allowing our feelings run wild. In this world our emotional gauge will always be tested. Its wide dashboard is filled with so many buttons. There are many fingers around us eager to push one. The enemy of our soul stalks us all the time and uses even our loved-ones to annoy us. He catches us at our awkward moment when we wander out of the cover of God's love, grace and living Word. Out there, without the leading of the Holy Spirit one is surely exposed to be carried away by sudden emotional outburst which dignifies folly and insults wise demeanor.

Wisdom tells us to magnify love, grace and attitude of gratitude. We are to get rid of wrath and hatred. As children of God by grace through faith in Jesus, scriptures instruct us: "My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.” (James 1:19, 20 NIV)

Apostle Paul further edifies us with these words: "I always thank my God for you because of the grace God has given you in Christ Jesus. I thank God because in Christ you have been made rich in every way, in all your speaking and in all your knowledge.” (1 Corinthians 1:4, 5 NCV)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 14:28 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“In a multitude of people is a king’s honor, But in the lack of people is the downfall of a prince.” (Proverbs 14:28 NKJV)

He used the analogy of a prospering kingdom, compared with an ailing princedom to teach us a lesson of godly rule. A growing kingdom which is blessed with teeming, growing and prospering population reflects a kingdom ruled in righteousness and justice. While a place where people are in lack, in want, regressing, running away and in fear, reflects a place ruled with injustice and wickedness. It's a regime headed away from God towards downfall. We saw and continue to see that in the rise and fall of nations in our time and time past.

These descriptions mirror the pictures of households, businesses, communities and nations where the sovereignty of God is defied and spurned. Yes, kingship and leadership not consecrated to God, be it a kingdom, a home or a business will not flourish. It rolls down to degeneration and decadence.

But, when it is surrendered to Jesus, He sanctifies it by His blood in His grace by faith in Him. It is transformed into a place bustling with abundance and of life. People are hopeful and booming. Peace reigns in their heart. They thrive even in draughts. The power of God goes with them. When all types of challenges and enemies come to ravage their land, they rise to overcome them and give honor to their king, as it is written: "The Lord shall cause your enemies who rise up against you to be defeated before your face; they shall come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways."(Deuteronomy 28:7 AMP)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 14:27 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!


When God says...

“The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, To turn one away from the snares of death.” (Proverbs 14:27 NKJV)

He alludes to a chilling scenario of how it would be without the spring of living water that gives us life. The fountain of life is the place where we must be settled, in order to live and not die. Not just to live, but to flourish and be fruitful. We are to hide in that secret place of the Most High (Psalms 91:1 NKJV) - in the sanctuary of His love.

We are to come to Jesus, He is the fountain of life! At the well, during a conversation with the Samaritan woman: "Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” (John 4:13-14 NIV)

As believers in Jesus Christ, being born again from the flesh to the spirit, we are set in that constant reverent fear of The Lord, by His grace. Fear from being separated from Him who is the author of life. He provides His sustaining breathe of life. He disabled the snares of death. He gave His life to give us life. In His resurrection, from death and its sting of sin, we are slaves no more, as it is written: "When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.” “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 15:54-57 NIV)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 14:26 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“In the fear of the Lord there is strong confidence, And His children will have a place of refuge.” (Proverbs 14:26 NKJV)

He is affirming to us that if we allow His supreme sovereignty over us, we will have the blessed assurance of total security and provision. Peace prevails, even in a state of chaos, all types of adversities and tests handed to us, knowing that we are in a place of refuge of His mighty presence.

Those who fear the Lord run away from temptation, exemplified in the life of Joseph, who was able to resist and escape from the clutches of his master Potipar’s wife. She pursued Joseph daily saying: “Come to bed with me.” Which he persistently refused: “With me in charge,” he told her, “my master does not concern himself with anything in the house; everything he owns he has entrusted to my care. No one is greater in this house than I am. My master has withheld nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. How then could I do such a wicked thing and sin against God?” But, one day, she caught him by his cloak and said, “Come to bed with me!” But he left his cloak in her hand and ran out of the house. Accused falsely by his master’s wife, he was put in prison. But while Joseph was there in the prison, the Lord was with him; he showed him kindness and granted him favor in the eyes of the prison warden (Genesis 39).

Yes, in His grace by faith in Christ Jesus, we are made recipients of His kindness and favors. He is our fortress, as the Psalmist declares: “The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.” (Psalm 18:2 ESV)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 14:25 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“A true witness delivers souls, But a deceitful witness speaks lies.”(Proverbs 14:25 NKJV)


He warns us of the opposing forces at play in this world we are temporarily camping in. The spirit of lies, that comes from its father the devil, goes around with deceptions and tricks putting the innocents in bondage. It aims to bring disorder in our homes, in our workplaces, in our businesses, in our communities and in our world. As witness of lies, he speaks to confuse and hold the careless captives.

But, thanks to the Spirit of truth who comes from God. He proclaims liberty to the captives (Luke 4:18). As believers in our Lord Jesus Christ, by His grace, our souls are delivered. Doors are opened for us to be the witness of truth, in our homes, in our workplaces, in our businesses, in our communities and in our world. Yes, He opens doors for us that no one can shut and shuts doors no one can open (Revelations 3:7). Having accepted Jesus our Lord and Savior, we welcome Him into our hearts and there He resides. In Him, we know the truth and we can stand as witness of truth to deliver souls from captivity. 

As we hold on to the teaching of the gospel of grace and truth in Christ Jesus (John 1:17), we are set free, as it is written: "To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:31, 32 NIV)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 14:24 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says…

“The crown of the wise is their riches, But the foolishness of fools is folly.”(Proverbs 14:24 NKJV)

He declares both a promise and affirmation that riches are prominent ornaments upon those who are wise. By wisdom, material wealth is made blessings for those who seek God and rest in His grace by faith in Christ Jesus. It moves and prospers in their households and in their businesses. It touches many lives for God's glory. Riches in the hands of the wise are complete. It flows, not stagnant. It impacts not just his temporal dwelling, but also his eternal home in heaven. 

Blessings and riches are exhibits of righteous authority by those who live wisely. In their hands, material blessings are transformed into spiritual wealth deposited in the bank of heaven. In the beatitudes, Lord Jesus exhorts: “But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.” (Mathew 6:20 NIV)

While fools, on the other hand, carry the ultimate expression of foolishness in his folly. When he gets access to material wealth he uses it to fuel his foolish projects. He scams and schemes to extort worldly resources for his ventures of trickeries and traps. Fools have no hint beyond his worldly view. If he stubbornly keeps his course, he is headed to fall. This world is his only best glimpse of heaven. While for the wise, this world is his only worst glimpse of hell. As it is written, through the Psalmist the Word of God warns: "This is the path of those who have foolish confidence; yet after them people approve of their boasts. Selah, like sheep they are appointed for Sheol; death shall be their shepherd, and the upright shall rule over them in the morning. Their form shall be consumed in Sheol, with no place to dwell. (Psalm 49:13, 14 ESV)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 14:23 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“In all labor there is profit, But idle chatter leads only to poverty.” (Proverbs 14:23 NKJV)

He affirms all our labors will not be wasted. It will always produce fruits. We should not just sit and chatter, which lead only to tattered couch. There is action in faith needed to be done. It is a triad cooperation with the seed, the ground and us, under God's grace. We, as active agent of planting, are to sow seeds both physical and spiritual (the Word of God), in the ground and in the hearts of men and women. Efforts consecrated to God lead to blessings. "... for in due season, we will reap, if we will not give up. (Galatians 6:9a NIV).

Yes, the quality of the ground (the condition of our heart) may affect our harvest. But, it has nothing to do with the seed and our labor. The seed is good-it is of God, and our labor is not in vain-it is a labor of rest in the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, by faith in Him. The quality of the ground? We should have it soaked with the the Word of God. And, let's not get tired, as Apostle Paul urges us with these words: "Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. "(1 Corinthians 15:58 NIV)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 14:22 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“Do they not go astray who devise evil? But mercy and truth belong to those who devise good.” (Proverbs 14:22 NKJV)

He asks us with a rhetorical question - Yes, where are those who devise evil? And, yes we know evil does not pay. Or, if ever it does - they always end up taking the brunt of the bad things they concoct. They mimic their father the devil, who comes to steal, to kill and to destroy. In so doing, they take the ride bound for their own ruin. They steal and end up in want. They scheme to destroy and end up flat on their faces. Their father the devil was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur (Revelation 20:10)

As children of God, we are to devise only good. God is good. Our heavenly Father is holy. We are to walk in holiness by grace though faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. Our reaction to evil schemes is as Lord Jesus commanded at the sermon of the mount. And, He proclaimed: "You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ But I say to you, Do not resist the one who is evil. But if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if anyone would sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. And if anyone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. Give to the one who begs from you, and do not refuse the one who would borrow from you.” (Matthew 5:38-42 ESV)

If we do this in love, to bless and be in peace, Apostle Paul exhorts us, as it is written- "On the contrary: “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.” (Romans 12:20 NIV)

And I say, AMEN!

BLESSED THANKSGIVING!

It is a blessed and joyful thanksgiving indeed! We made it through another year of struggle. The Lord is true to His promise, "I will never leave you nor forsake you."

As the world, now we are in, is becoming more and more spiritually darkened and desolate, it is with a grateful heart that we declare our gratitude in this Day of Thanks Giving! To Him who blessed and strengthened us in the middle of it all, we give Him honor and glory!

In our Lord Jesus Christ, by His grace through faith in Him, we have this promise, as King David declared:

"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever."(Psalms 23:1-6 KJV)

Proverbs 14:20-21 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“The poor man is hated even by his own neighbor, But the rich has many friends. He who despises his neighbor sins; But he who has mercy on the poor, happy is he.” (Proverbs 14:20, 21 NKJV)

He states the plain sad reality, in this world social standing is measured on position and possessions. Many, if not all, want to be friends and neighbors with the affluent and the moneyed. Some hate to be neighbors with the lowly and the unprivileged. They hate to dwell amongst the poor. They flock with the wealthy like ants - riding on their coattails. But, when the money runs dry, they all fly away. Like what happened to the prodigal son. During the days of his partying as funding was abundant, his friends were many. When the money was gone, so did his party buddies. No one gave him anything! The Scriptures say:” After he had spent everything, there was a severe famine in that whole country, and he began to be in need. So he went and hired himself out to a citizen of that country, who sent him to his fields to feed pigs. He longed to fill his stomach with the pods that the pigs were eating, but no one gave him anything.” (Luke 15:14-16 NIV)

This reminds us not to measure the standard of our living with the world. Rather, let's abide by the ways of God's word, in His grace. As believers in our Lord Jesus Christ, if we do surrender to His Lordship, we are citizens of heaven. And, we are instructed to take care of the poor when He said: "And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily, I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. (Matthew 25:40 KJV)

We are to love our neighbors rich and poor to fulfill His royal law and leave this world victorious. It is written: "If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing well. (James 2:8 ESV)

Loving them is not by way of handouts to the poor, nor subservience to the whims of the rich. Loving them is as Lord Jesus has commanded: "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19, 20 NIV)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 14:17,19 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“A quick-tempered man acts foolishly, And a man of wicked intentions is hated. The evil will bow before the good, And the wicked at the gates of the righteous.” (Proverbs 14:17, 19 NKJV)

He warns us about the dangers of unchecked temper. We are all susceptible to this, being endowed with the ability to feel. We have emotions that can run up or down, if we fail to reign over our thermostat, and allow it to be driven by the circumstance and environment we are in. We are made aware, it is foolish. Untamed emotion carries dire consequences. Many landed in jail or worse lost lives prematurely for split-second out-burst of temper. Worst of all, heavenly inheritance could be lost due to emotions unconsecrated to God.

We are all work-in-progress. We have to keep laying-down at the foot of the cross of our Lord those wild tantrums. Those are corruptible by evil intentions. It is a handy engine of ruin for the enemy to hitch-a-ride on. We must always in the know, God loves the wise who - seeks Him, but hates the fool - he who rejects God. He makes the sinner serve at the gates of the righteous - he who pleases God by resting in grace through faith in Christ Jesus. It is written: "For to the person who pleases Him God gives wisdom and knowledge and joy; but to the sinner He gives the work of gathering and collecting so that he may give to one who pleases God. This too is vanity and chasing after the wind.” (Ecclesiastes 2:26 AMP)

And I say, AMEN!
