Proverbs 10:3 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

"The Lord will not allow the righteous soul to famish But He casts away the desire of the wicked." (Proverbs 10:3 NKJV)

He is reminding us - if we remain in right standing with God (that is through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ) we are provided and protected. Righteousness is obedience by His grace. If we make it our business to take care of God's businesses, God will make it His business to take care of our business. He promised as it is written: “I will be your God throughout your lifetime— until your hair is white with age. I made you, and I will care for you. I will carry you along and save you.” (Isaiah 46:4)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 10:2 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

"Treasures of wickedness profit nothing, But righteousness delivers from death." (Proverbs 10:2 NKJV)

This may sound subtle, and lightly said. But, in its deepest sense, its significance to us transcends this life to eternity. Righteousness (that is right standing with God through faith in Christ Jesus) not only blesses our life on earth, but also brings us to eternal life in heaven.

What do we do to be righteous? Fully believe and accept our Lord Jesus Christ to reign in our hearts, as Lord. Let’s surrender our will to Him. He is our righteousness, as it is written: “For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.” (2 Corinthians 5:21).

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 10:1 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

"The proverbs of Solomon: A wise son makes a glad father, But a foolish son is the grief of his mother." (Proverbs 10:1 NKJV)

He affirms parents' greatest joy is to see their children accomplish their purpose in life wisely with great success. Walking in prudence and wise judgment in their day to day lives make parents bloat with honor. But children who lead a life of debauchery and impudence bring the deepest pain to their parents specially the womb that nurtures them. We see children are the source of joy or sorrow of parents. Most parents are honorable. They live the most part of their lives devoted to bring up their children to be where they ought to be. The lives of children actually determine whether the parents are fulfilled and happy in their later years or not. There is none unhappier parent in the world than one who knows his or her child is caught up in sin and the things of this world. There is no happier parent than one who knows that his or her offspring are all saved with their names written in the Lamb's book of life. Children who are living for Jesus are a joy to any parent who depends in the Lordship of Christ Jesus in their life.

The grief over a wayward child is most deeply felt by the mother, who plays a more intimate role in raising a child.

In a more intense way, that's how our Heavenly Father who loves us feel. He did what no other Father could do. He sent His only Son to die for us. So that through Jesus, by our wise decision to invite Him in our life, we go through the challenges in life under grace for His glory. Apostle Peter exhorts us with these words - 'And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. To him be the dominion forever and ever. Amen. (1 Peter 5:10, 11 ESV)

Proverbs 9:13-18 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

"A foolish woman is clamorous; She is simple, and knows nothing. For she sits at the door of her house, On a seat by the highest places of the city, To call to those who pass by, Who go straight on their way: “Whoever is simple, let him turn in here”; And as for him who lacks understanding, she says to him, “Stolen water is sweet, And bread eaten in secret is pleasant.” But he does not know that the dead are there, That her guests are in the depths of hell."(Proverbs 9:13-18 NKJV)

He shows us the tell-tale sign of folly. It's a clear contrast to wisdom's ways. It's loud. It’s a social climber, who likes to squeeze in and sit in a place of prominence. He calls to coax those who pass by in its proximity. It's best ignored by those who are wise and just go straight on their way.

Folly seeks out those who are witless, who wanders aimlessly without clear direction. It lures to quench their thirst and hunger with tainted water and rotten food. Not knowing they are hooked for disaster, like others who have taken the path before them.

As children of God, let's walk with clear destination. Route clearly mapped out that no one can divert us to the way of folly. Always mindful that the BIBLE is the only 'Basic Instruction Before Living Earth'. Yes, let us come, listen and learn to His instructions. And, walk in His ways. Prophet Isaiah musters us with these words- 'Many people shall come and say, “Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, To the house of the God of Jacob; He will teach us His ways, And we shall walk in His paths.” For out of Zion shall go forth the law, And the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.' (Isaiah 2:3 NKJV)

Proverbs 9:11-12 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

"For by me your days will be multiplied, And years of life will be added to you. If you are wise, you are wise for yourself, And if you scoff, you will bear it alone.” (Proverbs 9:11, 12 NKJV)

He declares with authority the promise of long life to those who get wisdom and hold on to her. This promise is for both here in the physical and in the spiritual realm of eternity. This reveals that wisdom exponentially adds more accomplishing power to the time we have. Time is a limited currency of this physical dimension of life. Lack of wisdom puts a person at risk of squandering it. Spending so much time on trivial things of the world like a scoffer, while neglecting the precious matters of heaven, leaves you alone to bear it's tragic consequence.

In the ways of wisdom, we will be in constant awareness that time on earth is finite. It's like a vapor. When it's lost, it's gone for good. It can't be replenished. We have to be wise to spend time well.

Wisdom teaches us to spend it for matters of infinite value - temporal for eternal. Use it to build up treasures in heaven. Lord Jesus gives this instruction - “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. (Matthew 6:19-21 NKJV)

Proverbs 9:10 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding." (Proverbs 9:10 NKJV)

He calls us to have holy fear upon Him who gives wisdom. We need wisdom and intimate knowledge of Him to sail through the rigmarole of living. It all begins at the point we conceive The Fear of The Lord.

What a powerful revelation! Holy Fear upon Him who crafted us out from clay! The psalmist declares as it is written: “For who in the skies can be compared to the Lord? Who among the heavenly beings is like the Lord, a God greatly to be feared in the council of the holy ones, and awesome above all who are around him?” (Psalm 89:6-7 ESV)

Proverbs 9:6-9 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

"Forsake foolishness and live, And go in the way of understanding. “He who corrects a scoffer gets shame for himself, And he who rebukes a wicked man only harms himself. Do not correct a scoffer, lest he hate you; Rebuke a wise man, and he will love you. Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser; Teach a just man, and he will increase in learning." (Proverbs 9:6-9 NKJV)

God is warning us not be a scoffer and a fool, who hates correction. A scoffer detests you when you correct him. He could harm you! And, we ought not be one, too.

Rather He is challenging us - Be Wise! Love and embrace correction. Welcome instruction. Be a life-long learner. Be learned! And, be blessed! The psalmist affirms God's promise with these words: “Blessed is the man whom You chasten O Lord, and whom You teach out of your law.” (Psalm 94:12)

Proverbs 9:1-5 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

"Wisdom has built her house, She has hewn out her seven pillars; She has slaughtered her meat, She has mixed her wine, She has also furnished her table. She has sent out her maidens, She cries out from the highest places of the city, “Whoever is simple, let him turn in here!” As for him who lacks understanding, she says to him, “Come, eat of my bread And drink of the wine I have mixed."" (Proverbs 9:1-5 NKJV)

He compares the call of wisdom to a great banquet invitation. It is not hard to miss. The preparation awaiting those who are invited is lavish and sumptuous. The house is reinforced to welcome safely those who are coming. The good news is everyone is invited. Wisdom intends to fill us all.

So, let's come together around the table of God's abundant favors and partake in the gift of wisdom. We need it. Apostle Paul exhorts us with these words - "For this reason, because I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love toward all the saints, I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. Proverbs 8:32-35 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“Now therefore, listen to me, my children, For blessed are those who keep my ways. Hear instruction and be wise, And do not disdain it. Blessed is the man who listens to me, Watching daily at my gates, Waiting at the posts of my doors. For whoever finds me finds life, And obtains favor from the Lord; But he who sins against me wrong his own soul; and those who hate me love death.” (Proverbs 8:32-35 NKJV)

He calls us to eagerly pursue pure Wisdom. Hear instruction from His Word in awe and deep anticipation. Real life is found in wise walk with God. We gain a place of privilege in His sight. To His call - let's open our ears wide… He promised: “If you faithfully obey the voice of the Lord your God, being careful to do all his commandments that I command you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, if you obey the voice of the Lord your God. Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the field.” (Deuteronomy 28:1-3 ESV)

Proverbs 8:30-31 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

"Then I was beside Him as a master craftsman; And I was daily His delight, Rejoicing always before Him, Rejoicing in His inhabited world, And my delight was with the sons of men."(Proverbs 8:30, 31 NKJV)

Using the metaphor of a master craftsman, He gives this great revelation, that: if we receive in our hearts God's gift of wisdom (He always gives wisdom generously to those who seek and ask for it) we become a person authoritatively skillful to obey things of God. We live for His pleasure and do His will for His glory. Our hearts are full of gratitude. We rejoice in His name and in His presence. We have great delight and peace where we are. We have exuberant and peaceful co-existence with all people. Struggles are faced with grace. He gives us comfort, as He prepares a banquet for us in the presence of our enemies.

Yes, let us ask God for wisdom and live adroitly for His name's sake. As it is written - "Have you ever come on anything quite like this extravagant generosity of God, this deep, deep wisdom? It’s way over our heads. We’ll never figure it out. Is there anyone around who can explain God? ; Anyone smart enough to tell him what to do? Anyone who has done him such a huge favor that God has to ask his advice? Everything comes from him; Everything happens through him; Everything ends up in him. Always glory! Always praise! Yes. Yes. Yes." (Romans 11:33-36 MSG)

Proverbs 8:27-29 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

"When He prepared the heavens, I was there, When He drew a circle on the face of the deep, When He established the clouds above, When He strengthened the fountains of the deep, When He assigned to the sea its limit, So that the waters would not transgress His command, When He marked out the foundations of the earth," (Proverbs 8:27-29 NKJV)

He affirms the presence of wisdom at the designing and crafting of the vast universe. This attribute of God participates in setting up the orderly pattern and placement of the heavenly bodies set on its designated spot. This attribute of God, like Him is eternal. We can have her, if we seek it. God imparts to us His gift of wisdom, to help us organize our lives in orderly fashion He designed to be. That our ways would be set in the path of righteousness destined to be with Him in eternal life, by faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.

The enemy prevents and blocks us to seek and received this gift. He wants to mislead us to the way of eternal death. So, it is imperative.  Let's get wisdom, and hold her tight by immersing in God's holy and written words. Apostle Paul exhorts us with these words to the believers in Laodicea - "that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, and attaining to all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the knowledge of the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. Proverbs 8:23-26 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

"I have been established from everlasting, From the beginning, before there was ever an earth. When there were no depths I was brought forth, When there were no fountains abounding with water. Before the mountains were settled, Before the hills, I was brought forth; While as yet He had not made the earth or the fields, Or the primal dust of the world." (Proverbs 8:23-26 NKJV)

He brings us to focus on wisdom's eternal co-existence with God. Before everything physical ever been created, yes, wisdom precedes man. She, wisdom, is with God in eternity past and in eternity to come. Wisdom will teach us to be wise so that we make the right choice to be with God. Not later. Not tomorrow or in the future, but NOW, in this moment - we choose to be with God and accept Jesus.

With wisdom, we make the conscious and purposeful decision to let Jesus in. He is standing at the door of our hearts. As it is written - "Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and repent. Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me. The one who conquers, I will grant him to sit with me on my throne, as I also conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne. (Revelation 3:19-21 ESV)

Let's ask Him in. "Lord Jesus, I repent of my sins. I ask you now, come in to my life. Be my savior and be my Lord. That, I may live wisely, and may you grant me to sit with you in eternity."

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 8:22 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“The Lord possessed me at the beginning of His way, Before His works of old." (Proverbs 8:22 NKJV)

We are given the knowledge of wisdom's pre-creation existence. Wisdom was with God, when He said "let there be light." Wisdom was with God when the heavens and the earth with all that is in it were made. It is written: "The Lord by wisdom founded the earth; by understanding he established the heavens; by his knowledge the deeps broke open, and the clouds drop down the dew." (Proverbs 3:19, 20 ESV)

That same wisdom He gives us as gift to power us up so we can lay down the foundations of our lives – that, we may glorify Him in all that we do. Scripture exhorts us with these words - "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. (Colossians 3:16, 17 ESV)

Proverbs 8:20-21 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

"I traverse the way of righteousness, In the midst of the paths of justice, That I may cause those who love me to inherit wealth, That I may fill their treasuries." (Proverbs 8:20, 21 NKJV)

He impresses in us the significance of how wisdom works and its promises to those who love it. Wisdom from God through His word dwells in righteousness (that is by grace through faith in Jesus) and works hand in hand with justice in the sight of God. Wisdom tells us there is only one source to guide us through life to the fullest - God's word. His Word keeps us attuned to Him every moment of our living, to honor and worship Him, in what we do and what we have.

It is written - "You’re blessed when you meet Lady Wisdom, when you make friends with Madame Insight. She’s worth far more than money in the bank; her friendship is better than a big salary. Her value exceeds all the trappings of wealth; nothing you could wish for holds a candle to her. With one hand she gives long life, with the other she confers recognition. Her manner is beautiful, her life wonderfully complete. She’s the very Tree of Life to those who embrace her. Hold her tight—and be blessed!" (Proverbs 3:13-18 MSG)

Proverbs 8:18-19 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

"Riches and honor are with me, Enduring riches and righteousness. My fruit is better than gold, yes, than fine gold, And my revenue than choice silver." (Proverbs 8:18, 19 NKJV)

He gives us insight of wisdom's benefits, as experienced by Solomon as a young king. It's fruit stretches far beyond the riches the world can give. Possessing heavenly wisdom helps us look up to respond our Lord's call in the gospel - "“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." (Matthew 6:19-21 ESV)

Wisdom leads to abiding wealth and lasting life in righteousness, with encompassing material and spiritual revenues, to be an instrument of blessing to your neighborhood. As it is written - "Real wisdom, God’s wisdom, begins with a holy life and is characterized by getting along with others. It is gentle and reasonable, overflowing with mercy and blessings, not hot one day and cold the next, not two-faced. You can develop a healthy, robust community that lives right with God and enjoy its results only if you do the hard work of getting along with each other, treating each other with dignity and honor." Proverbs 8:17 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

"I love those who love me, And those who seek me diligently will find me." (Proverbs 8:17 NKJV)

He lets us know, no seeker of wisdom has ever been disappointed, as she (wisdom) loves those who loves her. We can freely seek after her and find her. Lord Jesus said - "“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For, everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened." (Matthew 7:7, 8 NKJV)

God kept the door to wisdom open, so it can be within our easy access. Getting it is all in our control. No limitation. God requires no preconditions, except for just simply ask in faith. Who we are and where we're from, won't matter. When we ask He gives generously.

It is said scientists only use 10% of their brains. Makes one wonder, what % the rest (non-scientists) are using? That's how much brains are filled with wisdom of the world. How about wisdom from above? Perhaps, that's the reason why many lost their way and deny God their maker. It is certainly worth attempting to increase it and see what happens. Definitely with wisdom (Godly wisdom, of course) we will know the truth and the truth will set us free. Let's ask God for wisdom. Scripture affirms - "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. (James 1:5 NKJV)

Proverbs 8:15-16 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

"By me kings reign, And rulers decree justice. By me princes rule, and nobles, All the judges of the earth." (Proverbs 8:15, 16 NKJV)

He reveals that kings, rulers, princes and judges reign, rule and decree justly because of wisdom that comes from God. Wisdom is power to deliver justice upon the people of God's kingdom. Without wisdom there is injustice. Disorder and anarchy sweep a nation to chaos, which inflect suffering upon its people.

When God's commands are abandoned, kingdoms are drowned in the sea of lack and devastation. And, banishment from the sight of The Lord, as in the reign of Ahab the worst wicked king of Israel. It is written - "They forsook all the commands of the Lord their God and made for themselves two idols cast in the shape of calves, and an Asherah pole. They bowed down to all the starry hosts, and they worshiped Baal. They sacrificed their sons and daughters in the fire. They practiced divination and sought omens and sold themselves to do evil in the eyes of the Lord, arousing his anger. So the Lord was very angry with Israel and removed them from his presence. (2 Kings 17:16-18a NIV)

Such are tragic lessons to reflect on, in our domain of influence, in our home, in our work, in our business, in our cubicle, in our personal life. One may ask, am I wise? Someone says - Folly is when you open your mouth, wisdom is when you open your ears. God's Word reminds: "Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to listen, slow to speak, .." (James 1:19a ESV)

Proverbs 8:13-14 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

"The fear of the Lord is to hate evil; Pride and arrogance and the evil way And the perverse mouth I hate. Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom; I am understanding; I have strength." (Proverbs 8:13, 14 NKJV)

As believers of Jesus (those who accept and declare in their hearts that Jesus Christ is their Lord and Savior) by nature we are to hate what Jesus hates and love who Jesus loves. We are to hate sin and love the sinner. As we all fall short from the glory of God we ought to love one another. As we allow Jesus to reign in our hearts by accepting His Lordship, we now live in His grace. And, in Him we are the righteousness of God.

Our reverent fear of the Lord now puts us in deep-seated hatred against pride, arrogance, perversity and all ways of evil. Those, now belong to the camp of our worst enemy. Wisdom starts by hating evil. War ensues. Counsel, sound wisdom and understanding provide us the strength in our battle against evil day by day. By wisdom we subdue evil with good. It is written: "But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and the fruit of good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere." (James 3:17 NLT)

"Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good." (Romans 12:21 ESV)

Proverbs 8:10-12 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

"Receive my instruction, and not silver, And knowledge rather than choice gold; For wisdom is better than rubies, And all the things one may desire cannot be compared with her. “I, wisdom, dwell with prudence, And find out knowledge and discretion." (Proverbs 8:10-12 NKJV)

He urged us, that above all things this world can give, pursue wisdom from His Word. Wisdom is more precious than all material things (and stones) this world can give. Wisdom through God's word leads to living day by day with caution and common sense. Always mindful that what we do in this finite life determines the outcome of our eternal life.

In each and every step we make, wisdom causes us to render discretion, wise judgments and decisions. She helps us avert disaster. She leads us with successes to every arrival we accomplish in our way to our future. She keeps us mindful, our loyalty to the future must be greater than our loyalty to the past. Apostle Paul exhorts us with these words to reflect  and ponder: "Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 3:13, 14 ESV)

Proverbs 8:6-9 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

"Listen, for I will speak of excellent things, And from the opening of my lips will come right things; For my mouth will speak truth; Wickedness is an abomination to my lips. All the words of my mouth are with righteousness; Nothing crooked or perverse is in them. They are all plain to him who understands, And right to those who find knowledge." (Proverbs 8:6-9 NKJV)

We are reminded with the importance of listening. In whatever state in life we are, in our interactions horizontally with one another and most of all vertically with God, it all starts with right instructions and protocol. Nothing works without the right protocol to follow exactly, as it is. And, no one gets the right instructions unless one listens well.

The most important instruction we must be attentive to, is God's Word. It is the manual for righteous living. It is the truth that sets us free. Pure, plain and undiluted Word of God is our life. If we receive it, it helps us to be in right standing with God. We can grasp on it easily when we seek and open our inner ears to it. His Word gives us strength. He said, it is our bread of life. As the Scripture said - "But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ” (Matthew 4:4 NKJV)

Proverbs 8:4-5 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“To you, O men, I call, And my voice is to the sons of men. O you simple ones, understand prudence, And you fools, be of an understanding heart." (Proverbs 8:4, 5 NKJV)

He calls - first of all, those men who can't understand women (thus can't grasp wisdom, being personified as female) - but easily succumb to seduction by women. Secondly, He calls mankind in general who bears the mark of Adam's weakness. Thirdly, He calls the simple and naivete who are ignorant of the caution of God's word. Fourthly, He calls the fools and the proud, those who think they are wise in their ways and resist the things of God. He calls us all to open our heart to His words.

His words lead us to wisdom and understanding; and have faith in Him who saves us. He guides us from where we are to where we ought to be, secure and in sync with His plan. Wisdom from His words helps, those who walk on the road to perdition, redirect their course through the road of redemption. Apostle Paul brings us these words to remembrance- " It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. Therefore, as it is written: “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.” (1 Corinthians 1:30, 31 NIV)

Proverbs 8:1-3 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

"Does not wisdom cry out, And understanding lift up her voice? She takes her stand on the top of the high hill, Beside the way, where the paths meet. She cries out by the gates, at the entry of the city, At the entrance of the doors:" (Proverbs 8:1-3 NKJV)

He puts us in the know that wisdom is available for us to get hold on. She is not hidden from anyone. We can have her as we will it and seek her out. We hear the wisdom of God from the melody of creation's noise around us. We see her in the majestic beauty of God's handiwork.

She is in our daily encounters on the pathways of our journey in life. In each and every step we take and experience we get through there is knowledge to learn. In our way to the future, to face the great unknown, He gives wisdom when we ask Him. As it is written- "If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. (James 1:5 NIV)

Let's open our eyes, our ears, our minds, our hearts, and let the wisdom of God in. Let the Lord... "Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom," (Psalms 90:12 NIV)

Proverbs 7:24-27 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

"Now therefore, listen to me, my children; Pay attention to the words of my mouth: Do not let your heart turn aside to her ways, Do not stray into her paths; For she has cast down many wounded, And all who were slain by her were strong men. Her house is the way to hell, Descending to the chambers of death."(Proverbs 7:24-27 NKJV)

He affirms His forewarning not go near the house of seduction. He calls for total attention to take hold upon His commands. Avoid the path of temptation. With a wise heart, follow his counsels. You would not fall into the harlot's trap.

Not only weak men she has slain - But, strong men (successful of things of the world-men who can afford luxuries and extravagance) with wrong thoughts, at the wrong place at the wrong time, with the wrong reasons.

Her house is a chamber of destruction and death. It leads to condemnation in hell to those who enter it, unless they repent, turn to God and accept Jesus their Lord and Savior. In Him there is no more condemnation. As it is written: "THEREFORE, [there is] now no condemnation (no adjudging guilty of wrong) for those who are in Christ Jesus, who live [and] walk not after the dictates of the flesh, but after the dictates of the Spirit." (Romans 8:1 AMP)

Proverbs 7:22-23 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

"Immediately he went after her, as an ox goes to the slaughter, Or as a fool to the correction of the stocks, Till an arrow struck his liver. As a bird hastens to the snare, He did not know it would cost his life." (Proverbs 7:22, 23 NKJV)

This shows how vulnerable a person who fails holding on to wisdom in God's Word. He is likened to an ox led to the butcher's shop. He surrenders his eternal soul for a moment of passion. Without second thought, he goes for her, mindless of its dire consequence, even though he knows it will cost him his life.

And, when the arrow of reality hits its deadly target, then he would know doomsday has come. Instant regrets flashes. In split second he remembers. God called him to get wisdom in His word. He was forewarned, as we all are. But, listen he did not. Now, reckoning is come.

As a child of God through faith in Jesus, let's not behave like a fool. Rather let's hang on to His word. His word is our help. It is written: "All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16, 17 NLT)

Proverbs 7:19-21 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

"For my husband is not at home; He has gone on a long journey; He has taken a bag of money with him, And will come home on the appointed day.” With her enticing speech she caused him to yield, With her flattering lips she seduced him." (Proverbs 7:19-21 NKJV)

He exposed how crafty an adulteress works out on her victim - the foolish man who neglects to listen the counsels he had been given. Her words also reveal the condition of her marriage, which may have shaped who she is. She convinces him their stolen tryst is safe from her unsuspecting or neglectful spouse. With her wooing, in his state of weakness, devoid of God's words which he just let through from one ear to another, the spineless man gives in. His knees buckled. He drops into her deadly embrace.

That's what happens when the spirit is starved from God's word and the flesh is heaped on with barrages of enticements from Satan's minion. As a child of God through faith in Jesus, we are to immerse in His words always. His words sustain and strengthen us. And, keep us aligned to rely on the Holy Spirit to lead us. He will keep us from stepping in the path to the harlot's doorstep. By wisdom He saves us from being trapped in her chamber of adultery.

A child of God is rigged to resist and break free. His words give us this assurance - "The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure." (1 Corinthians 10:13 NLT)

Proverbs 7:16-18 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

I have spread my bed with tapestry, Colored coverings of Egyptian linen. I have perfumed my bed With myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon. Come, let us take our fill of love until morning; Let us delight ourselves with love. (Proverbs 7:16-18 NKJV)

He allows us to peek into an adulterous woman's wares and tools of enticements. The clear extravagance of worldly possessions, indicate the dangers of the controlling power of what a person owns. It can corrupt one's principle. This woman is loaded, and thinks of herself as righteous. She uses Egyptian linen as metaphor for worldly righteousness.

Love is deceptively used to express lust of the flesh. The magnitude of her preparation, affirms the planned intent to lead a man to sin. All portals of temptation are invaded. The eyes: by the superb adornments. The ears: by the alluring speech. The smell: with fragrant aroma. Against these enticements, one needs strength in order to not fall. We need protection to withstand the power of darkness. We need God's full armor.

The Scripture urges us: "Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm."(Ephesians 6:10-13 ESV)

Proverbs 7:13-15 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

"So she caught him and kissed him; With an impudent face she said to him: “ I have peace offerings with me; Today I have paid my vows. So I came out to meet you, Diligently to seek your face, And I have found you." (Proverbs 7:13-15 NKJV)

It shows how vulgar a harlot in her pursuit for a man to seduce. With daring public display of affection to a stranger, she uses statements with such impudence, hypocrisy and sarcasm alluding to food from ceremonial altar offering practice, while aggressively seducing her victim to violate God's commandment. It is not a good scene to see - a man being pursued and taken by a seductress. He ought to reject such advances.

But the sad thing is in some cases (if not most) man is the one pursuing a harlot, or even a meek woman under his control and influence. It is a deplorable act which a good husband, a father and a godly man, must not do. God is very clear in His command: "You must not commit adultery." (Deuteronomy 5:18 NLT)

Lord Jesus expounds the full intent of this command in His discourse - "You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart." (Matthew 5:27, 28 NKJV)

Proverbs 7:10-12 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

"And there a woman met him, With the attire of a harlot, and a crafty heart. She was loud and rebellious, Her feet would not stay at home. At times she was outside, at times in the open square, Lurking at every corner." (Proverbs 7:10-12 NKJV)

He continues to show how the seduction game is played. So we can be watchful and alert - as they lurk searching the next victim they could find. If you stray their way you'll be intercepted.

Knowing their craft, we can safely veer away so as not to fall in their pit of sin and death. Equipped with wisdom, we see clearly and walk the path leading to God. Trusting fully in Jesus, with intake of His word day by day, He'll keep us in the path that leads to our future full of hope. As it is written - "The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; He shall preserve your soul. The Lord shall preserve your going out and your coming in From this time forth, and even forevermore. Proverbs 7:6-9 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

"For at the window of my house I looked through my lattice, And saw among the simple, I perceived among the youths, A young man devoid of understanding, Passing along the street near her corner; And he took the path to her house In the twilight, in the evening, In the black and dark night." (Proverbs 7:6-9 NKJV)

Through Solomon's eyes of experience, He shows how the dance of seduction is played in a wild nature of youth. A naivete young man, seemingly innocent, walks in the red-light district in his young thrill-seeking mind. He stumbles into a seductress' doorstep - a trap in darkness. That is a scene of a person walking without the light and direction of wisdom. He gropes in the dark not seeing where he goes- with snares everywhere.

We need God's word as compass to stay in the right path. Let the Holy Spirit lead us away from the house of the trapper. The world and the streets where we live are dark. We need light. We need Jesus, not religion. As He declared - "I have come as a Light into the world, so that whoever believes in Me [whoever cleaves to and trusts in and relies on Me] may not continue to live in darkness. (John 12:46 AMP)

Proverbs 7:1-5 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says…

"My son, keep my words, And treasure my commands within you. Keep my commands and live, And my law as the apple of your eye. Bind them on your fingers; Write them on the tablet of your heart. Say to wisdom, “You are my sister,” And call understanding your nearest kin, They will keep you from the adulterous woman, from the wayward woman, with her seductive words." (Proverbs 7:1-5 NKJV)

God gives us instruction to be acted on. Life in abundance intended by God for us, is one which is rooted in His commands - His Words. He calls us, be close to wisdom always. And, Apostle Paul exhorts us with these words: “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts.” (Colossians 3:16 ESV)

Proverbs 6:32-35 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

"Whoever commits adultery with a woman lacks understanding; He who does so destroys his own soul. Wounds and dishonor he will get, And his reproach will not be wiped away. For jealousy is a husband’s fury; Therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance. He will accept no recompense, Nor will he be appeased though you give many gifts." (Proverbs 6:32-35 NKJV)

He shows a grim contrast to stealing when a man touches another man's wife. There is no restitution possible. He will face the wrath of a jealous husband carrying a wounded self-esteem. Adultery is a cruel crime against the institution of marriage. Love for each other is the most precious gift a man and woman have on this earth, except for the gift of His love for us. There is something very special about a man and his wife being one. To invade on this privacy of a man and his wife is without excuse. Only a nincompoop would do such a thing at the expense of his life and soul.

With that stressed, God reaffirms the seriousness of His command when He declared - "But from the beginning of the creation, God ‘made them male and female.’ ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’; so then they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.” (Mark 10:6-9 NKJV)
