Proverbs 4:11-12 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...


"I have taught you in the way of wisdom; I have led you in right paths. When you walk, your steps will not be hindered, And when you run, you will not stumble." (Proverbs 4:11, 12 NKJV)

He reminds us that we have been taught. At any given stage of our life we have been given guidance in wisdom, firstly by our parents and many others who had been in a position to influence us. We are all in a journey of continuous learning. What we take hold on to, matters. 

We take hold on God's wisdom. It gives us an edge to have a teachable attitude and open hearted reception of God's word. If we do, we won't hesitate, but eager and excited as He leads us. Our strides will be intentioned and precise. The hurdles we take are stoically sure-footed. Apostle Paul exhorts us with these words- "Look carefully then how you walk! Live purposefully and worthily and accurately, not as the unwise and witless, but as wise (sensible, intelligent people), (Ephesians 5:15 AMP)


And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 4:10 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...


"Hear, my son, and receive my sayings, And the years of your life will be many." (Proverbs 4:10 NKJV)

He calls us to live in the power of His words. His word as we know is given to us so we can live life as it is to be lived. Not in the ways of the world, but as He designed it for us. His word is light in our path to keep us from danger. His word is the bread from heaven to sustain us in good health. His word is our source of strength to help in our battle against the enemy of our soul. 

If we listen, receive and walk in His words, our life will be long and blessed for eternal joy. God declared this promise to Solomon, as it is written - "So if you walk in My ways, to keep My statutes and My commandments, as your father David walked, then I will lengthen your days.” (I Kings 3:14 NKJV)


And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 4:7-9 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...


"Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding. Exalt her, and she will promote you; She will bring you honor, when you embrace her. She will place on your head an ornament of grace; A crown of glory she will deliver to you.” (Proverbs 4:7-9 NKJV)

Mathew chapter 2 reveals 'wise men' came to worship our Lord Jesus. They seek to worship. When God through the proverbs says - Get Wisdom, He reminds us to be seekers and worshipers of Him who made and saved us. I, therefore, must respond, to seek Him First.

It is written: " Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, saying, “Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.” "(Mathew 2:1-2 ESV)

And I say … AMEN!

Proverbs 4:6 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

"Do not forsake her, and she will preserve you; Love her, and she will keep you." (Proverbs 4:6 NKJV)

He urges us to be passionate for wisdom, 'her'. Personified as female whom men are to love, we are to love wisdom, which underscores keeping that love for her at all cost. As man is to love his wife, as Christ love the Church, that's how our zeal for wisdom must be. 

Wisdom will keep and preserve us. First and foremost, we seek God and pursue wisdom. It is written: "The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding. (Proverbs 4:7 NIV)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 4:3-5 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

"When I was my father’s son, Tender and the only one in the sight of my mother, He also taught me, and said to me: “Let your heart retain my words; Keep my commands, and live. Get wisdom! Get understanding! Do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth." (Proverbs 4:3-5 NKJV)

He reveals that David passed on to Solomon all that God has commanded him. All unfinished businesses God entrusted David were to be completed by Solomon. It shows that Solomon listened well to his father's instructions, as a good child would, even in his father's imperfection. 

There is great eternal value in our parents’ words, in spite of their frailty. …A legacy of faith. Wisdom from experienced mistakes, endeavors postponed, challenges withstood and joy in God's faithfulness even in their moments of unfaithfulness. 

As parents, we should not tire teaching our children and proclaiming to them God's mighty work, in every moments of our lives. It may sound trivial, but God makes it vital. He promised that if we - "Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it. (Proverbs 22:6 ESV)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 4:1-2 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

"Hear, my children, the instruction of a father, And give attention to know understanding; For I give you good doctrine: Do not forsake my law." (Proverbs 4:1, 2 NKJV)

We are instructed to pay attention to the teachings of God's laws our parents gave, which we too must pass on to our children. Those are good doctrine to guide us in our walk with God. His law sets boundaries between what gives life and what takes life away. Kept activated, it sets off an alert when we stray to the edges of danger. His law is not a list of don'ts to take away our joy. Because of His love the law is given to keep us safe and victorious. 

Apostle John reminds us with these words - "Loving God means keeping his commandments, and his commandments are not burdensome. For every child of God defeats this evil world. And we achieve this victory through our faith. (1 John 5:3, 4 NLT)


And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 3:35 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...


"The wise shall inherit glory, But shame shall be the legacy of fools." (Proverbs 3:35 NKJV)

He unveils the plain reality of it all. For the fools who think that they are wise, who disdain God and His word, this world here now is their only taste of heaven. But, for the wise who accepts Jesus as Lord and Savior, who depends upon His Word for living, this world is their only worst glimpse of hell.

Fools live for the shame of the world - For here and now. The wise seeks God. Those who seek God inherit glory. The glory of the only begotten Son is shared with those who live for God. This is a shared inheritance by the Savior with the saved. For the humble and wise, Lord Jesus gives this assurance - “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also." (John 14:1-3 NKJV)


And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 3:34 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...


"Surely He scorns the scornful, But gives grace to the humble." (Proverbs 3:34 NKJV)


He affirms that as He gives us His Word He gives us life. Rejection and scorn of His Word is rejecting life itself and opting for the curse of death. The Word of life He speaks, condemns and judges the proud who scorns the words He speaks (John 12:48).


When the arrogant scribes and parishes rejected Him, Lord Jesus granted grace to the lowly who received Him. God gives this promise - "if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. (II Chronicles 7:14 NKJV)


And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 3:33 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...


"The curse of the Lord is on the house of the wicked. But He blesses the home of the just." (Proverbs 3:33 NKJV)


He lets it be known that the disobedience of the wicked begets curse. While obedience of the just begets blessings. That's how God's system works ever since He sets time and space in motion by the power of His Word.


His blessings through grace are upon the just by faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. As it is written, "Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. (Romans 5:1-4 NIV)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 3:31-32 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...


"Do not envy the oppressor, And choose none of his ways; For the perverse person is an abomination to the Lord, But His secret counsel is with the upright." (Proverbs 3:31, 32 NKJV)


He forbade us not to look up to the oppressor. Or, be one. He is an anathema to The Lord. We are not to desire his ways. Nor, the worldly fruits of it. His spoils are cursed. He has none of the blessings of Heaven. He is blinded from it.


The secret of the counsel of God's word is upon the upright - those who believe in The Lord Jesus Christ. It is written: 'The disciples came to him and asked, “Why do you speak to the people in parables?” He replied, “Because the knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you, but not to them. (Matthew 13:10, 11 NIV)


Our righteousness is only by, in and through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.


And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 3:30 - When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...


"Do not strive with a man without cause, If he has done you no harm." (Proverbs 3:30 NKJV)

He reminds us not to live in strife and contention, let alone start one. The world has already more than enough of tribulations and tensions. We, as believers in Christ Jesus our Lord, ought not be an author of one in our area of influence. Rather we are to do our part, as much as possible as it all depends on us, to be the strife-stopper. We are to be agents of peace. In Christ we can be at peace even in the midst of our enemies. The Psalmist declares God's goodness with these words: "You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies." (Psalm 23:5a NIV)

In the epistle of Apostle Paul, we are urged- "If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all." (Romans 12:18 ESV)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 3:27-29 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...


"Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due. When, it is in the power of your hand to do so. Do not say to your neighbor, “Go, and come back. And tomorrow I will give it.” When, you have it with you. Do not devise evil against your neighbor, For he dwells with you for safety’s sake." (Proverbs 3:27-29 NKJV)


What a succinct reminder. We are God's tool to be a blessing to others. Not as a burden. Wherever we're at, God equips us to be a tool for something good. Let's ask God to position us on the right spot to bless someone in need at every opportunity. He calls us to be a blessing regardless of our circumstance. Yes, to His call I pray use me Lord, today.

Lord Jesus said: “…He causes the son to rise on good people and on evil people, and he sends rain to those who do right and to those who do wrong.” (Mathew 5:45b)


And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 3:24-26 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“When you lie down, you will not be afraid; Yes, you will lie down and your sleep will be sweet. Do not be afraid of sudden terror, Nor of trouble from the wicked when it comes; For the Lord will be your confidence, And will keep your foot from being caught.” (Proverbs 3:24-26 NKJV)

The Message paraphrase puts it this way: “Dear friend, guard Clear Thinking and Common Sense with your life; don’t for a minute lose sight of them. They’ll keep your soul alive and well, they’ll keep you fit and attractive. You’ll travel safely. You’ll neither tire, nor trip. You’ll take afternoon naps without worry. You’ll enjoy a good night’s sleep. No need to panic over alarms or surprises, or predictions that doomsday’s just around the corner, Because God will be right there with you; he’ll keep you safe and sound.” (Proverbs 3:21-26 MSG)


What a very reassuring promise from God to hold our TRUST tight on. He follows through His words. He exalts His Word above His name. He is able. He is faithful, even in our unfaithfulness. So, to His promises - let us say, Yes!


And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 3:19-23 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

"The Lord by wisdom founded the earth; By understanding He established the heavens; By His knowledge the depths were broken up, And clouds drop down the dew. My son, let them not depart from your eyes— Keep sound wisdom and discretion; So they will be life to your soul And grace to your neck. Then you will walk safely in your way, And your foot will not stumble." (Proverbs 3:19-23 NKJV)


He reminds us that we need His wisdom. We must have it. Lock our focus on it. Seek it through His Words. Ask for it. He gives generously. And, the Holy Spirit guides us. He promised. We shall NOT stumble. Apostle Paul exhorts us with these words: "Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit,  addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart,  giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ." (Ephesians 5:15-21 ESV)


And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 3:18 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

"She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her, And happy are all who retain her." (Proverbs 3:18 NKJV)

He declares wisdom is a tree of life, whose fruits impart eternal life. If we cleave on to her (wisdom) like a husband being one with his wife, we gain life eternal. Our journey will be filled with joy even as we encounter craggy roads, steep slopes or rough and stormy seas, the voice of wisdom is our comforting GPS. She gives direction when to turn and go straight. She recalculates when we miss an exit or wrongly enters one.

Yes, wisdom from above ushers in good fruits, as Scripture exhorts us with these words - "But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness. (James 3:17, 18 NIV)

As husbands and fathers, wives and mothers, children and parents, we need that brand of wisdom.

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 3:17 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...


"Her ways are ways of pleasantness, And all her paths are peace." (Proverbs 3:17 NKJV)

He assures us that wise way of living is not a drag. It's exciting and full of amazing moments. We start to see God's hand working in our every circumstance from victory to victory. There are still challenges, as the journey is on. And, we are still in the world. Troubles are around. The prince of darkness is busy.

But if we keep watch and remain in wisdom's path to trust in our Lord Jesus Christ, we are at peace. As He promised - "I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.] (John 16:33 AMP)


And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 3:15-16 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...


"She is more precious than rubies, And all the things you may desire cannot compare with her. Length of days is in her right hand, In her left hand riches and honor." (Proverbs 3:15, 16 NKJV)

He lays bare before us the valuable attributes and benefits of wisdom. "She" (personified as female - being likened to a woman's role as partner) empowers us to make the conscious decision to depend upon God, our only source for everything. 

Through wisdom, God enables us to receive the blessings of abundant life, wealth and glory, as He did to Solomon, on whom the Queen of Sheba declares - "Blessed be the Lord your God, who delighted in you, setting you on His throne to be king for the Lord your God! Because your God has loved Israel, to establish them forever, therefore He made you king over them, to do justice and righteousness.” And she gave the king one hundred and twenty talents of gold, spices in great abundance, and precious stones; there never were any spices such as those the queen of Sheba gave to King Solomon." (II Chronicles 9:8, 9 NKJV)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 3:13-14 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

"Happy is the man who finds wisdom, And the man who gains understanding; For her proceeds are better than the profits of silver, And her gain than fine gold." (Proverbs 3:13, 14 NKJV)

He challenges us to pursue wisdom and understanding, the most wonderful gifts that God can give us. Silver and gold can be lost and stolen, but wisdom and understanding cannot be taken away. 

Let's emulate the example of Solomon. It pleases God. As it is written- "The Lord was pleased that Solomon had asked for wisdom. So God replied, “Because you have asked for wisdom in governing my people with justice and have not asked for a long life or wealth or the death of your enemies— I will give you what you asked for! I will give you a wise and understanding heart such as no one else has had or ever will have! And I will also give you what you did not ask for—riches and fame! No other king in all the world will be compared to you for the rest of your life! And if you follow me and obey my decrees and my commands as your father, David, did, I will give you a long life.” (1 Kings 3:10-14 NLT)


And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 3:11-12 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...


"My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, Nor detest His correction; For whom the Lord loves He corrects, Just as a father the son in whom he delights." (Proverbs 3:11, 12 NKJV)

It's a plea driven by a Father's love to a beloved child, leading a wild life, who rejects loving discipline. Every good father who loves corrects. We as children of God, through faith in Christ, will receive chastisement if we carelessly and/or knowingly walk the wrong path that leads to sin and destruction.

The world is full of diversions to stray. Hence, He watches over us to keep us safe. It is written - "And have you forgotten the encouraging words God spoke to you as his children? He said, “My child, don’t make light of the lord ’s discipline, and don’t give up when he corrects you. For the lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes each one he accepts as his child.” (Hebrews 12:5, 6 NLT)


And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 3:9-10 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

"Honor the Lord with your possessions, And with the first fruits of all your increase; So your barns will be filled with plenty, And your vats will overflow with new wine.” (Proverbs 3:9, 10 NKJV).

He calls us to action. Our possessions are for honoring God. With trust and faith, we are to give the first and best to God, be fair, give generously and grateful for all that He gives. The result of such faithfulness to honor Him is prosperity and satisfaction.

Honoring the Lord goes beyond the church walls by living what we believe. Our heart is where our pocket book and time is. When we consecrate our time, talent, treasure and touch to God, it provides harvest of plenty, overflowing our barns and vats with wine. Lord Jesus assures us with this promise: "Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again." (Luke 6:38 KJV)

Our prosperity is in giving. Give to God the first and the best, as it is written "Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that [there shall] not [be room] enough [to receive it]." (Malachi 3:10 KJV)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 3:7-8 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...


"Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and depart from evil. It will be health to your flesh, And strength to your bones." (Proverbs 3:7, 8 NKJV)


It is to remind us to stop in our arrogance, cruising through everyday life without God's direction, thinking we are wise. Anything we do apart from God is headed to failure. The devil may paint a facade of success, but behind it is chaos and utter ruin. True success and blessings come from God.


Our posture must always be of reverent worship to the One who created us. He fills us with health and strength that will take us to our destiny. It is written: 'Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, The Holy One of Israel: “I am the Lord your God, Who teaches you to profit, Who leads you by the way you should go. (Isaiah 48:17 NKJV)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 3:5-6 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...


"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths." (Proverbs 3:5, 6 NKJV)

He has our best interest in His mind and heart. He knows best what's best for us. He created us. He loves us that His sent His only begotten Son to die for us. No other father would do that for us. He wants to make sure our path is directed where it should be. Only Him can do that for us. We can't by our limited ability. The only key is, we put our trust in Him. He will not forsake us. As the Psalmist declares - "And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; For You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You. (Psalms 9:10 NKJV)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 3:3-4 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

"Let not mercy and truth forsake you; Bind them around your neck, Write them on the tablet of your heart, And so find favor And high esteem in the sight of God and man." (Proverbs 3:3, 4 NKJV)

Mercy and truth are of God. By which He freed us. He restored us good in His sight, not of the good things we have done. We ought not to depart from His mercy and, the truth of His word. These are our adornment that makes us pleasing in the sight of God and man. By faith in our Lord Jesus - "So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most." (Hebrews 4:16 NLT)

And I say, AMEN!
