Proverbs 16:27-28 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“An ungodly man digs up evil, And it is on his lips like a burning fire. A perverse man sows strife, And a whisperer separates the best of friends.”(Proverbs 16:27, 28 NKJV)

He calls us out to stop the habit of gossip and vindictiveness. Yes, that practice of exhuming rotten carcasses of evil pasts! It produces nothing good, but builds conflict and strife like a raging wild fire. It would raze everything on its path to ashes. Piles of debris and collateral damages follow its wake. Broken relationships are its prized casualties. Those are the kind of specialty skills of the ungodly. And, God hates such doings, as Scriptures declare: "I will not tolerate people who slander their neighbors. I will not endure conceit and pride.” (Psalms 101:5 NLT)

Rather, as the redeemed of the Lord through faith in Christ Jesus, Apostle Paul instructs us with these words: "Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” (Ephesians 4:31, 32 NIV)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 16:26 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“The person who labors, labors for himself, For his hungry mouth drives him on.” (Proverbs 16:26 NKJV)

He reminds us that we are the beneficiary for the fruits of our labor. Hunger and thirst are great motivators to work. The option is to starve not only our carnal body, but our spiritual wellbeing, as well, if we do not do our part to sweat it out. Apostle Paul warns the lazy with these words: "... If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat.” (2 Thessalonians 3:10b ESV)

And, to the Philippians he wrote: "Dear friends, you always followed my instructions when I was with you. And now that I am away, it is even more important. Work hard to show the results of your salvation, obeying God with deep reverence and fear.” (Philippians 2:12 NLT)

Having accepted Jesus our Savior and reborn in spirit, by His grace and with the Holy Spirit being our guide, our heart must be in constant thirst to do what is right and what is good in the eyes of God. That is by believing in the finished work of Jesus. We do it, not for people's applause. They won't applaud for things of God. They even hate and resent it! Paul urged us further with these words: "So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone—especially to those in the family of faith.” (Galatians 6:9, 10 NLT)

Yes, we are called to do the work of God. It is written: "Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.”"(John 6:29 ESV)

Proverbs 16:25 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.”(Proverbs 16:25 NKJV)

He reminds us of our limitation. It is gravely dangerous when we do whatever we feel good and think we can do without consulting God through His holy and written Word. What we see as right way in our eyes at the start, could lead to the wrong destination that we could not see. This passage warns of a deadly end.

But, God sees what's ahead. Declaring the end from the beginning (Isaiah 46:10a), He is Omniscient. We are not. We operate in the natural. His ways are supernatural. It is written, God says: "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:8, 9 ESV)

We are to depend and trust in Him, by surrendering to the Lordship of Christ Jesus in a personal relationship. Not religion of dos and don’ts. Not of rituals and traditions. Rather, we do what we must do, as the Lord: "Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.”" (John 6:29 NIV)

And, He further assures: “Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me.” (John 14:1 NLT)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 16:24 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, Sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.” (Proverbs 16:24 KJV)

Such an amazing revelation of the holistic impact of words we speak to our physical, emotional and spiritual well-being! Its overarching ramification to our body's total health is really rooted deeply to the core. It hones in the marrow of our bones. Yes, our bones! That's where this amazing revelation hits it, knowing that in the marrow of our bones is where the blood cells are formed and manufactured. That's where the lifeblood of our physical existence emanates. Delivered by arterial tributaries into our heart, then pumped out to every organ of our body, it gives total exuberant energy for our daily dance of living. Powered by continuous flow of pleasant heavenly lingo that we ought to speak from God’s holy and written Words that's sweet to the soul, this passage tells us, all is well.

This reminder is very opportune. Bitterness and unpleasantness sneak in our conversations and interactions, at times unnoticed due to pressure and polluted conditions around us. We are all imperfect. Constant reminders of God's Words really matter. Totally submitted to the Lordship of Christ Jesus by faith, we need God's Word to help us continuously transform our language for living.

Yes, we need His Word and presence to guard our heart - the wellspring of a healthy life (Proverbs 4:23). Apostle Paul exhorts us with these words: “Don’t be pulled in different directions or worried about a thing. Be saturated in prayer throughout each day, offering your faith-filled requests before God with overflowing gratitude. Tell him every detail of your life, then God’s wonderful peace that transcends human understanding, will guard your heart and mind through Jesus Christ.” (Philippians 4:6-7 TPT)

Proverbs 16:23 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says…

“The heart of the wise teaches his mouth, And adds learning to his lips.” (Proverbs 16:23 NKJV)

This passage touches a nerve to remind one of the common blunder many are guilty of, engaging their mouth too quickly too often with mind and heart out of sync. It usually leads to a situation where one ends up 'putting his foot in his mouth'!

Needless to say, this is one big eye-opener. It is always wiser to be wise and stay wise! This tells us that what truly needs to be engaged before we speak is our heart - which instructs our mouth - before blurting other than what ought to be said. When this is done habitually with discipline, our lips learn to speak out of the abundance of our heart. And, having surrendered our lives to the Lordship of Jesus by faith, resting in His grace, He fills our hearts with good things. His love abounds!

With our lips and mind and heart truly engaged and in sync, this exhortation from Apostle Paul, surely, becomes the way to abide. “Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Ephesians 5:18-20 NIV)

Proverbs 16:22 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“Understanding is a wellspring of life to him who has it. But the correction of fools is folly.” (Proverbs 16:22 NKJV)

We are reminded, again, of the seriousness of having discernment in our living. Life is brief to waste on idiocy. Foolishness must be blocked from sneaking in. It must not be allowed to fool us. Even its attempt to make its ways right remains an act of lunacy.

Spiritual understanding is the wellspring of living water for those who have it. The Scripture tells us, in the gospel of John's account (in Chapter 4) of the woman at the well in Samaria, that the Lord Jesus was wearied from his journey. Evidently, he was also hungry and thirsty, for the disciples had gone into the village to buy food, and He asked the woman for a drink. But, after He revealed the Words of truth in His conversation to the woman, He received an upsurge of spiritual consciousness that dissipated His physical hunger, thirst and weariness.

It is the divine energy of understanding which enables us to be healed. Turning to the divine Mind as the source of divine energy, we are able to dispel the stranglehold of the mortal mind. This energy that comes by spiritual understanding of the Lord's gospel of grace and truth, lifts us up above physical limitations. In Christ Jesus, this is the power that brings us to life beyond.

The Lord Jesus Christ affirmed that spiritual understanding leads to victory over sickness, sin, lack and death. His consciousness of what complete harmony and spiritual understanding impart are revealed in His statement to the woman at Jacob's well. The same consciousness, we too ought to possess by faith in Him. It is written: “Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again. The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” (
John 4:13-14 ESV)

And, "Meanwhile the disciples were urging him, saying, “Rabbi, eat.” But he said to them, “I have food to eat that you do not know about.”" (John 4:31-32 ESV)

Proverbs 16:21 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says …

“The wise in heart will be called prudent, And sweetness of the lips increases learning.” (Proverbs 16:21 NKJV)

This text reveals that prudence is an outward manifestation - an expressed language - of wisdom from a person’s heart. By gracious and eloquent utterance of prudence, abundant learning is gathered by those who hear and listen. And, foremost, one increases wisdom from his self-talk!

Yes, when grace and wisdom are working in concert, lives are significantly impacted by the words spilling out of our lips. Devoid of grace and wisdom, we beware, good or bad words spoken are powerful. It has bearing to a person's success or failure, life or death - which transcends from this earthly realm to eternity. Hence, this passage puts us in conscious knowledge. This seriously reminds to let sweetness be the prominent spice in our lips, in grace and wisdom!

As God’s children by grace through faith in Christ Jesus, we let this litmus test monitor the contents of our heart. We must be mindful always of what Lord Jesus said. He warns: “The good person out of his good treasure brings forth good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure brings forth evil. I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak, for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”” (Matthew 12:35-37 ESV)

Proverbs 16:20 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“He who heeds the word wisely will find good, And whoever trusts in the Lord, happy is he.” (Proverbs 16:20 NKJV)

One example we can follow is Joseph. He heeded God's promptings and put his trust in the Lord. His father loved and trusted him. His brothers though, envied him, hated him and sold him to slavery in Egypt. But, God was with him all through such a very painful journey.

While in Egypt, God prospered Joseph. His master made him in-charge of his entire household. Sadly, he was falsely accused of rape by his master's wife and was jailed for a crime he did not commit. In jail, God blessed Joseph. He transformed the dungeon of torment to a haven of God's presence. Gifted to interpret dreams, he was promoted by the king of Egypt from the jail cell to the royal hall, when he interpreted Pharaoh's dream that warns of the coming Seven years of famine following the Seven years of good harvests. Joseph gave Pharaoh a wise plan of action, a Godly counsel that pleased the king.(Genesis 39-41)

God exalted Joseph to power in Egypt through the Pharaoh, as it is written: “So Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I hereby put you in charge of the whole land of Egypt.” Then Pharaoh took his signet ring from his finger and put it on Joseph’s finger. He dressed him in robes of fine linen and put a gold chain around his neck. He had him ride in a chariot as his second-in-command, and people shouted before him, “Make way!” Thus he put him in charge of the whole land of Egypt. Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I am Pharaoh, but without your word no one will lift hand or foot in all Egypt.”” (Genesis 41:41-44 NIV)

Proverbs 16:19 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says…

“Better to be of a humble spirit with the lowly, Than to divide the spoil with the proud.” (Proverbs 16:19 NKJV)

God is reminding in this passage, every child of God by faith in Christ Jesus, to choose wisely who to hang out with. The proud who goes around amassing power and material spoils at the expense of others they could trample on, what plunder they seemingly get in fame and riches, will ultimately be taken away from them. And, they are sure to face severe eternal consequence. It is best not to spoil your hands with their spoils. Lord Jesus said: “They devour widows’ houses and for a show make lengthy prayers. These men will be punished most severely.”” (Mark 12:40 NIV)

But, on the other hand by being humble in spirit associating with the lowly, with a compassionate heart as that of Christ Jesus, we are positioned for heavenly blessings. Lord Jesus declares this in His Sermon on the Mount - “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 5:3 ESV) And, for deeper reflection the Holy Scriptures say: "For to the one who pleases him God has given wisdom and knowledge and joy, but to the sinner he has given the business of gathering and collecting, only to give to one who pleases God. This also is vanity and a striving after wind." (Ecclesiastes 2:26 ESV)

Proverbs 16:18 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“Pride goes before destruction, And a haughty spirit before a fall.” (Proverbs 16:18 NKJV)

This passage reveals of a destructive force stronger than gravity that pulls a person down – pride! Arrogance is a sure way to end up flat on your face. Haughty individuals fall just as surely as rotten apples fall from the tree.

The magnitude of evil devastation caused by the destructive pride of humanity is incalculable. Plagues of worst crimes and horrors of deadly wars kept societies and nations of the world on edge. Even in the heavenly realms, pride brought Lucifer down. He was once the most beautiful and exalted angel of light. He coveted God's seat of worship and rebelled against God because of his pride. This is the spirit that leads people away from God, and refuse to worship their Creator.

The only remedy for pride is humility, which could not be acquired by self-effort. But, by fixing your eyes on God our Father and Jesus our Savior, only then you will see yourself rightly. As we accept the Lordship of Jesus in our life, He secures us where we ought to be; resting in His grace, abiding in His words and worshipping Him with a humble heart.

For our self-reflection, He declares these words of counsel: “When someone invites you to a wedding feast, do not take the place of honor, for a person more distinguished than you may have been invited. If so, the host who invited both of you will come and say to you, ‘Give this person your seat.’ Then, humiliated, you will have to take the least important place. But when you are invited, take the lowest place, so that when your host comes, he will say to you, ‘Friend, move up to a better place.’ Then you will be honored in the presence of all the other guests. For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.” (Luke 14:8-11 NIV)

Proverbs 16:17 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“The highway of the upright is to depart from evil; He who keeps his way preserves his soul.” (Proverbs 16:17 NKJV)

Being declared righteous by faith in the risen Christ Jesus (Romans 5:1-2), He directs us towards the right and safe traffic flow which turns away from wicked ways. It is the highway less travelled - the narrow road (Mathew 7:13-14). This is the road that leads to our preordained destination - our Kingdom of citizenship, which is in Heaven. This road is an extreme contrast from that congested highway with tempting frequent stops at the 'plazas' of sinfulness. We are warned about that broad road. Lord Jesus said: “For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it (Mathew 4:13b)."

The road frequently travelled by many, follows the navigation route of the flesh, as it is written: 'When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God (Galatians 5:19-21 NLT).” That is the freeway to destruction.

But, the way that we are to take, as children of God by faith in Jesus, is one that keeps secure the inheritance of our soul. It is the way of truth, shielded from roadside evil distractions. It has guardrails against ditches of traps and snares. Maybe bumpy at times, but it is straight and lighted by the Word of God, as the psalmist declares: “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path (Psalm 119:105 AMP).”

Proverbs 16:16 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“How much better to get wisdom than gold! And to get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver.” (Proverbs 16:16 NKJV)

He emphasizes that we must resolve to choose wisdom, above all. That is of course wisdom that begins in the fear of the Lord (Proverbs 1:7). Definitely not wisdom of the world, as it is absurdity in the sight of God (1 Corinthians 3:19). Gold, silver and all material wealth are merely shackles of temporal vanities in this dimension of time and space. While wisdom leads to knowledge and understanding of God's word - the truth that sets us free. Understanding opens us the door to salvation by grace through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, which leads us to eternal bliss in the realm of timelessness.

We are on a journey, as passers-by, in this empty world of desires and wants. While here sojourning, when we camp in HIS grace through faith in the finished work of our risen Lord Jesus Christ on the cross, we have sufficiency of all that we need. In Him, we have access to all the resources of heaven for everything we need in this life to sustain us towards the life to come. Apostle Paul exhorts ALL who believed with this reassuring declaration and prayer: "And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. To our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen." (Philippians 4:19, 20 ESV)

Proverbs 16:15 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says…

“In the light of the king's countenance is life; And his favour is as a cloud of the latter rain.” (Proverbs 16:15 KJV)

This passage keeps us in the reassuring knowledge that when the King of the universe shines his favor upon us, what more could we want? In Christ, as we rest in His lordship, life for us is not merely existence. It is a rich, flourishing and thriving full life –with downpour of blessings. It is full of contentment, joy and peace! That is even in the midst of turmoil in the world!

For those who truly receive the saving grace of our risen Lord Jesus Christ, it is right to pray these words before our heavenly Father:
“Thank you, Almighty Father, for manifesting your character in my life. I have seen you work miracles and give strength to the weak. I have watched you engineered conditions and events to accomplish your plan. And it always turned out better than anything I could dream up! A life beyond blessed!

I marvel at your power and majesty on display in creation. I am amazed by the abounding blessings you have provided for my family. Your radiance shines brilliantly in all our lives.

And, through Christ Jesus my Savior and Sustainer, not because of who I am, but because of who You are, I receive the rain of favor from your priestly pronouncement of blessings for my family and I. All these I receive, as your Words declare - “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.”” (Numbers 6:24-26 ESV)

Proverbs 16:14 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“The wrath of a king is as messengers of death: But a wise man will pacify it.” (Proverbs 16:14 KJV)

Again, this reminds the power of wisdom - that is reverent fear of God, which takes us to the time of Daniel (in Daniel chapter 2) during their captivity and exile in Babylon. Daniel was truly faithful to God and full of wisdom.

An incident happened that Nebuchadnessar the king of Babylon was enraged over his wise men. These so-called wise men were unable to tell him his dream and interpret it. “This made the king so angry and furious that he ordered the execution of all the wise men of Babylon (Daniel 2:12).” So, he decreed to have all of them executed including Daniel and his friends who were just recently inducted members of the of the wise men's club of Babylon.

But, Daniel with his tact and wisdom mellowed down the king's wrath and persuaded the king to give him time so he could tell him his dream and interpret it. These young men, Daniel and his friends prayed to their God, our God - the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. That night the God of heaven revealed to Daniel the king's dream and its interpretation. It pacified the king's wrath and saved all the wise men from execution. Such a profound example of tact and wisdom, as reminder for everyone whose faith is in Christ Jesus.

Daniel and his friends were appointed to high positions in the Kingdom of Babylon. Scripture says: “Then King Nebuchadnezzar fell prostrate before Daniel and paid him honor and ordered that an offering and incense be presented to him. The king said to Daniel, “Surely your God is the God of gods and the Lord of kings and a revealer of mysteries, for you were able to reveal this mystery.” Then the king placed Daniel in a high position and lavished many gifts on him. He made him ruler over the entire province of Babylon and placed him in charge of all its wise men. Moreover, at Daniel’s request the king appointed Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego administrators over the province of Babylon, while Daniel himself remained at the royal court.” (Daniel 2:46-49 NIV)

“Righteous lips are the delight of kings, And they love him who speaks what is right.” (Proverbs 16:13 NKJV)

This passage reveals that lips could be launchers of evil and lethal words fired to harm, to hurt and to destroy.

One example in the Bible of lips that hurled malice was during the reign of King Darius of Persia, who was deceived by corrupt administrators and satraps to issue an edict and enforce a decree that anyone who prays to any god or man other than the king shall be thrown into the lions' den. Their scheme was to get rid of Daniel that they envied, as he was doing his job with high degree of integrity. And, they know that Daniel prays to his God, regularly – the true God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

They thought their scheme and false accusations succeeded, as Daniel was thrown into the den of hungry lions by a deeply grieved king Darius. But, God saved Daniel from the mouth of the lions and king Darius ordered his false accusers thrown into the same lions' den. They, along with their families, were all devoured in no time by the hungry lions before they even hit the ground. Daniel's righteous lips prospered him during the reign of king Darius in Persia who delights in what he speaks (Daniel 6). This is truly an amazing boomerang of evil words wicked lips speak against a righteous man!

Righteous lips delight those who listen – those who seek God and His truth. Being reborn in spirit in Christ Jesus by faith, we are gifted with His righteousness (Romans 4:5). Our lips should be the turret from which projectiles of blessings from God’s holy and written Words are to be launched. Apostle Paul exhorts God's children with this caution: “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.” (Ephesians 4:29 NIV)

Proverbs 16:12 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says…

“It is an abomination for kings to commit wickedness, For a throne is established by righteousness.” (Proverbs 16:12 NKJV)

Positions of power are best served abiding in God's righteousness. Dispensation of authority and leadership should be grounded, executed and sustained by divine virtues. Favors and blessings abound where right standing with God reigns in the heart of those who are on the seat of control and influence.

Seats of authority and power are established by God. And, we are to submit to that authority as it is dispensed in God's righteousness and wisdom. Not wisdom of the world. Those are foolishness in God's sight (1 Corinthians 3:19). But, sadly, not all who occupies the throne of power are of God. Hence, not all their orders are to be followed when it collides against the precepts of God.

Like the throne of authority in the Kingdom of Babylon during the time of Daniel in the Bible, which was ruled by a godless king. Three teenagers, Shadrach, Mishach and Abedniggo, were ordered by king Nebuchadnessar to worship his god made of golden statue. They stood in their faith with their God - the true God of all Creation. They refused to submit to the king's order. They placed their faith in the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. The Lord saved them from the fiery furnace and influenced a pagan king to worship the true God Almighty in the process (Daniel 3:16-28).

As God's children by faith in Jesus, we are to submit to higher heavenly authority. When our relationship with our Heavenly Father is at stake, we are to stand by faith in Him. When the apostles were threatened by the wicked religious leaders of their time, they stood in faith. It is written: “Peter and the other apostles replied: “We must obey God rather than human beings! The God of our ancestors raised Jesus from the dead—whom you killed by hanging him on a cross. God exalted him to his own right hand as Prince and Savior that he might bring Israel to repentance and forgive their sins. We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him.”” (Acts 5:29-32 NIV)

We have this comforting assurance: “What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31 ESV)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 16:11 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says …

“Honest weights and scales are the Lord’s; All the weights in the bag are His work.” (Proverbs 16:11 NKJV)

This is a reminder to keep our integrity intact. When it comes to how we live - and how we do business - God wants us to have His weights and scales in the bag. That is doing our businesses and affairs in life as clear as day in the light of His gospel of grace and truth. Not on the standards of the world. It changes very often at its whims. The Lord's standards must be the solid rock we stand on.

He is talking about ethics in our workplace and in our playground of living. In this society and world, there are players who bend mores and rules to their advantage. They, even cheat on as petty as jumping in the queue line at check-out counters. Or, steal time at work! Which, we ought not, do. Sadly, we cannot catch them often who are unjust in their business dealings and conduct of living. Like the serpent, they are somehow crafty (Genesis 3:1). But, we do have a God who can see every activity under the sun. Every transactions done in the dark are beamed to heaven. Every time we weigh our time, our efforts, our goods, and our words, He sees and knows what we are doing. And, there is time for everyone to give account to God (Romans 14:12). And, He also affirms that in the end, the seat of judgment is at His throne (2 Corinthians 5:9-10).

Oh, that we might learn from this truth! And, navigate through this world with the appropriate reverent fear of God - respect for His Word and walking by faith in Christ Jesus our Lord. The time of reckoning is coming. It is written: “And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done.” (Revelation 20:12-13 NIV)

Proverbs 16:10 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says…

“A divine sentence is in the lips of the king: his mouth transgresseth not in judgment.” (Proverbs 16:10 KJV)

Every judgment call that has enormous impact must be done with divine direction. Decisions of kings that affect kingdoms or nations and its people should be prayed for, and stamped with the authority of God’s Word. Most especially, those which have serious ramifications on people's lives and eternal destiny must not transgress the divine justice of God.

That goes true with our personal decisions, as well. It must not be made lightly and haphazardly. Rather, it must be made in light of God's word and guidance of the Holy Spirit by faith in Jesus. Every decision we make determines our quality of living and fate. And, it can shake the lives of those who we care and care about us. So, for us all, this passage is reminding that our decision calls ought to be executed under the counsel of our Sovereign King - The King of Glory!

What king is considered here? Who? Not just any king, but rather the only Mighty and Righteous King – our Good, Good Father!

There is only one truly righteous King whose name is above all names. His name is Jesus! Divine proclamation is in His lips. He never transgresses in judgment. He rules the universe, and He is coming soon to judge the world. He is the Blessed and Only Potentate! “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.” (Matthew 25:41 NIV)

Proverbs 16:9 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“A man’s heart plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps.” (Proverbs 16:9 NKJV)

The Lord reiterates this very important reminder, so we can walk with the confidence of knowing, our steps are guided by none other, Him who is the Creator of the universe. Yes, man's plans are frailty. And, having been given free will, we may walk through life with many faulty twists and turns. And, every time, our loving Heavenly Father is always there at the brink of disaster that we unknowingly face. By His grace, He lovingly eases us away from every near-misses!

He pursues us in His grace and love. He loves us so much! Yes, He does! Remember! He gave His Son to die for us! And, as we surrender back to Him our free will, and our life to His Lordship by faith in Christ Jesus our risen Savior, He holds us by the palm of His Mighty Hands. He secures us! He establishes us with this blessed assurance: “For I am certain that nothing can separate us from his love: neither death nor life, neither angels nor other heavenly rulers or powers, neither the present nor the future, neither the world above nor the world below—there is nothing in all creation that will ever be able to separate us from the love of God which is ours through Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:38-39 GNT)

Proverbs 16:8 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says…

“Better is a little with righteousness, Than vast revenues without justice.” (Proverbs 16:8 NKJV)

This is an injunction against greed and injustice. God is highlighting again in this passage the contrast of well-gotten blessings and ill-gotten riches. Well-gotten blessings provide added values of eternal promises and provisions, contentment, good health, joy, peace and restful night sleep.

Ill-gotten wealth heaps up truck-loads of discomfort, discontent, insatiable greed, chaos, fearful restless nights, envy and jealousy. Those who possess it are always on the run pursuing and being pursued by fear of being over taken by those they compete with and stolen from. They are wary of being cheated by those they have cheated. Then, ultimately time is over, and it all ends right here in the world. King Solomon described all work under the sun for things under the sun, as 'meaningless, a chasing after the wind (Ecclesiastes 1:4 NIV).'

For the righteous in the eyes of God by faith in Christ Jesus, where the pursuit is First for the Lord's Kingdom and His righteousness, will get hold of all the blessings of heaven. They will be pursued, as well, not by fear! But by all the things that the godless pagan world pursues. It is written, Lord Jesus said- “So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” (Matthew 6:31-33 NIV)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 16:7 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says …

“When a man’s ways please the Lord, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.” (Proverbs 16:7 NKJV)

He gives a profound promise, we have true peace when we please God!

However, it is impossible for man to please God by his self-effort. Scriptures described all righteous acts of man as filthy rags (Isaiah 64:6). But, thanks be to our Lord, we have good news! In Christ Jesus by faith, He counted us right with him through the cleansing by the blood of His Son. The good works that manifest as fruit of our faith in Christ bring God glory and pleasure (Ephesians 2:10).

Yes, it is only by faith in Christ, mankind can be pleasing to God. Scripture says, when we submit to His lordship and are raised with Him, we are hidden in Christ (Colossians 3:3). When God looks at us, He sees Jesus. The light of Jesus shines through us and His love reigns in us. The power of His love is expressed in our life. And, we can be at peace with our enemies. The Holy Spirit works through us to fulfill His command - “But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you."(Matthew 5:44)

As children of the Most High God, we are empowered by the in-dwelling of the Holy Spirit. Not by our effort to observe the law, but only by His grace through faith in Jesus, we can please God (Hebrews 11:6). Yes, by faith! We are called to -“Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone. Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures say, “I will take revenge; I will pay them back,” says the Lord. Instead, “If your enemies are hungry, feed them. If they are thirsty, give them something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals of shame on their heads.” Don’t let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good.” (Romans 12:18-21 NLT)

Proverbs 16:5-6 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“Everyone proud in heart is an abomination to the Lord; Though they join forces, none will go unpunished. In mercy and truth Atonement is provided for iniquity; And by the fear of the Lord one departs from evil.” (Proverbs 16:5, 6 NKJV)

This warns that pride and arrogance set man squarely against God. That's the perfect game plan for destruction and death - the finale' for rebellious living that dishonors his Maker. In their distorted mind, the wicked think they have the power in their number. Little do they know, they march in droves to the fiery furnace of hell.

But God in His grace and mercy, by the power of His Word and the finished work of Jesus on the cross, provides the way to repentance and salvation. As we humble before Him in reverent fear, He will meet us where we're at. He receives us in our filthiest state. During His time in this world, Lord Jesus welcomed sinners - the tax collectors, the prostitute, the adulterer, the thief and every sinner who came to Him. He healed the broken hearted, the blind, the lame, the mute, and all who are sick who came to Him. All who need restoration, He restored. The contagious lepers He touched and healed. Yes, He loves us that even our worst state of sin can never deter Him nor separate us from His love.

When we trust in our Lord Jesus Christ, He will wash us white as snow (Isaiah 1:18). He will make our life brand new, as it is written: "This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation.” (2 Corinthians 5:17, 19 NLT)

Proverbs 16:4 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“The Lord has made all for Himself, Yes, even the wicked for the day of doom.” (Proverbs 16:4 NKJV)

He proclaims all are created by Him, through Him, in Him and for Him. (Colossians 1:16). All His creation is good (1Timothy 4:4). And, God gave man the gift of free-will, the ability to act at his own choice and discretion. By free-will, Adam and mankind chose to rebel against God. They abandoned the goodness of life with God to live in wickedness opposing their Maker.

As God's precious creation and now redeemed by the blood of the Lamb, we are sheltered by His grace on the day of doom. That is when we accept the Lordship of Jesus by faith and are born again in spirit (John 3:3).

But, those who deny the finished work of Jesus on the cross and remain rebellious are made catalysts: Firstly, to magnify God's goodness for those who believed; and Secondly, to amplify God's wrath on the day of judgement upon them who hardened their heart. It is written: "But because of your hard and impenitent heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath when God’s righteous judgment will be revealed. He will render to each one according to his works: to those who by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, he will give eternal life; but for those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, there will be wrath and fury.” (Romans 2:5-8 ESV)

Proverbs 16:3 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“Commit your works to the Lord, And your thoughts will be established.” (Proverbs 16:3 NKJV)

He draws us to set our thoughts in a firm unshakable ground. It is where the battle with the enemy of our soul is fought. Thoughts that are easily carried away by every whims and waves of emotions and notions other than the Word of God are open doorways to the path of destruction and death. That's not God's intent for humanity.

His plan for us is to have a victorious life. Not only in worldly realm. Though still in the world, all who have been reborn in spirit by faith in Christ Jesus are citizens of heaven. In Christ, He establishes our thoughts for victory in heavenly dimension. He sends us the gift of the Holy Spirit to teach us all things (John 14:26). His Word is our lamp and light (Psalm 119:105).

Hence, He commands us to dedicate our endeavors to Him, and He promised as it is written: "Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don’t try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God’s voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he’s the one who will keep you on track. Don’t assume that you know it all. Run to God! Run from evil! Your body will glow with health, Your very bones will vibrate with life! Honor God with everything you own; give him the first and the best. Your barns will burst, your wine vats will brim over. But don’t, dear friend, resent God’s discipline; don’t sulk under his loving correction. It’s the child he loves that God corrects; a father’s delight is behind all this.” (Proverbs 3:5-12 MSG)

Foremost, as we focus our eyes on Jesus “the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2)” our thoughts are settled. It is at peace. And, while in this world, we overcome. “For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.” (1 John 5:4 ESV)

Proverbs 16:2 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, But the Lord weighs the spirits.” (Proverbs 16:2 NKJV)

This passage reveals that it is not enough to clean up our act on the outside. Man's self-effort to clean up the performance falls short of God's glory (Romans 3:23). His actions are deceiving and most often do not reflect his intentions.

When He came down from heaven, the mission of the Lord Jesus Christ is not to reform the manners of society. He came to change the hearts of humanity – sinners like every one of us. He came to transform our inner being. For Him, the interior is what matters, not the 'curb appeal'.

God allowed Jesus to become what He hated the most; sin. So we could become like who He loved the most; His righteous Son. Jesus died as we, so we could live as Him. Through His death and miraculous resurrection and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in our being, the moment we are reborn by receiving His Lordship in our life, God sees Jesus when He sees us. We are hidden with Christ in God (Colossians 3:3).

Our heart is what and who we are, in the secrecy of our thought and emotion that nobody knows but God. And, who we are in the invisible root, matters as much to God, as what we are on the visible branch. “Man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart” (1 Samuel 16:7). Hence, we are to take care of our heart and mind to be cleansed by regular intake of His spoken Words (John 15:3). He exhorts us in this assurance: “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:7 NIV)

Proverbs 16:1 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“The preparations of the heart in man, And the answer of the tongue, is from the LORD.” (Proverbs 16:1 KJV)

We may plan our ways, but the Lord in His grace guides our steps. Many plans may be conceived in our hearts, but God's established law of the Spirit of life in Christ directs our way (Romans 8:2). For the counsel of the Lord will stand firm, forever. He has the last word!

This verse is not telling us that our decisions are of little or no consequence. The fact of the matter is, our little decisions could have gigantic propitious or disastrous results. It does not relieve us of the responsibility for the choices we make nor does it excuse us of the accountability for the actions we take. We even have to give an accounting for every empty word we speak, Lord Jesus said in Matthew 12:36. This reminds the importance for us and every child of God to use our God-given free-will to choose prayerfully and wisely. As we seek to carry out His perfect will, in the choices that we make, we honor Him the giver of life.

Psalm 37:4 tells us to take delight in the Lord, and He will give us the desires of our heart. For when our heart is turned towards our Heavenly Father, by faith in Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior, His perfect desire becomes our perfect plan. We have this assurance and promise: “And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God. And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.” (Romans 8:27-30 NIV)

Proverbs 15:33 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“Fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom, And before honor is humility.”(Proverbs 15:33 NKJV)

He purposely itches on us the virtue of humility to embrace His teachings of the proverbs for wise living. It is founded on fear of the Lord. That is having reverent awe of Him who is Almighty, a deep respect for His commands, promises and words, and a high regard for the punishment that can be brought upon the foolish and the wicked. Honorable living is His best intent for us. He firmly set the truth that: “Those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.” (Luke 14:11 NLT) Humility lifts you up to honor! Pride pushes you down to disgrace!

The surest, shortest and only way to honor is humility! Get down! When you get down, God and men of faith will lift you up! That is humility before God and to the truth of His Word. The lesson is pure and true. His Word is infallible. God resists the proud, but He helps the humble. It is written: “But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.””(James 4:6 ESV)

As children of God by faith in Christ Jesus, we are called to servanthood, as He further reminds: “The greatest among you will be your servant. For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”(Matthew 23:11-12 NIV)

Proverbs 15:31-32 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“The ear that hears the rebukes of life Will abide among the wise. He who disdains instruction despises his own soul, But he who heeds rebuke gets understanding.” (Proverbs 15:31, 32 NKJV)

He bares the fundamental and grave error of sinners and the ungodly. They undervalue their own souls. Sinning is their lowest and meanest expression of indignity upon self. Contempt for correction epitomizes their repugnance on life. Such a state of lack of spiritual understanding is a deadly spot to be.

As children of God through faith in Christ Jesus, those who truly cede their life in His Lordship, our rightful spot is to be counted among the wise. We ought to be one whose ear hears and heeds rebuke that leads to life and life eternal. We are to humble before God and grab hold on the words of the psalmist: "Teach me, Lord, the way of your decrees, that I may follow it to the end. Give me understanding, so that I may keep your law and obey it with all my heart. Direct me in the path of your commands, for there I find delight. Turn my heart toward your statutes and not toward selfish gain. Turn my eyes away from worthless things; preserve my life according to your word. Fulfill your promise to your servant, so that you may be feared. Take away the disgrace I dread, for your laws are good. How I long for your precepts! In your righteousness preserve my life.” (Psalm 119:33-40 NIV)

All these and this declaration we gain by believing in Him. Not by our self effort of doing good or observing religious rituals. As it is written: “ Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.”” (John 6:219 ESV)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 15:30 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“The light of the eyes rejoices the heart, And a good report makes the bones healthy.” (Proverbs 15:30 NKJV)

This passage reminds the impact our composure with those we talk to, and those who talk to us. The emotions our eyes exude reflect the flicker to what we say. The discouraging words we say are mirrored in our eyes. It darts out rays of disappointing signals into the eyes of those who receive it. It shots exigent impulse into the joints. Many who receive devastating news drop on folded knees, as they see the gloomy eyes of the messenger. And, sadly, those events can happen while we are still in this world. But, it should not be made normal ritual in our regular interactions.

While in this world, we can abide in the Kingdom of God and have exuberant attitude. Our eyes, being the window into our soul, should reflect the bliss of the Lord in our being. As sons and daughters of our Heavenly Father by faith in Christ Jesus, the aura of our eyes and good report our lips bring, ought to be contagious. It should deliver light, not darkness. It should convey doses of joy, not sadness.

In Christ Jesus, by His grace, everyone who have gotten hold of the truth are called to be bearers of light and good news to those who have not truly called on the name of the Lord. They must be shared with the good news of grace and truth! So, they will know that grace and truth came through Jesus Christ (John 1:17). He did not come to establish a religion of Dos and Don'ts. He came to have an intimate relationship with us, by believing in Him.

Such "good report of truth makes the bones healthy" and must be revealed and shared. It is written: “For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord [in prayer] will be saved.” But how will people call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how will they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher (a messenger)? And how will they preach unless they are commissioned and sent [for that purpose]? Just as it is written and forever remains written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things!”” (Romans 10:13-15 AMP)

And I say, AMEN!!!

Proverbs 15:29 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“The Lord is far from the wicked, But He hears the prayer of the righteous.” (Proverbs 15:29 NKJV)

This reminds that the wicked, in his state of sinfulness, is far from God. His prayer could not reach God due to the barrier of sin.

That's the state of the world then, as it is today, for those who deny Jesus. Yet God, driven by His love of the world, He came over two thousand years ago. He was born like us, so we can be like Him - restored in His image when we were created (Genesis 1:26). And, He makes us righteous in His eyes. Out of compassion, He came to reconcile His prized creation to Himself. He lived amongst us to relate with us. So that when we receive Jesus to be our Savior and be born again, we will see the kingdom of God (John 3:3). And, as our sin is cleansed by faith in Jesus, the barrier is demolished. He hears our prayer!

The scriptures declare, as it is written: 'All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet: “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us).' (Matthew 1:22, 23 ESV)

The angel and heavenly host celebrate! And, we celebrate His entrance into our world, because: “THE SON OF GOD BECAME A SON OF MAN TO ENABLE SONS (AND DAUGHTERS) OF MEN TO BECOME SONS (AND DAUGHTERS) OF GOD!”(C.S. Lewis)

The Bible says: "And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: 'Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace goodwill toward men!” (Luke 2:13-14 KJV)

And I say, AMEN!

Proverbs 15:28 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God says...

“The heart of the righteous studies how to answer, But the mouth of the wicked pours forth evil.” (Proverbs 15:28 NKJV)

He is challenging us to possess the heart of a righteous. One, who first of all, cedes his life to Jesus and accept Him in his life to be his personal Lord and Savior. When Jesus is seated on His rightful FIRST place in our heart, we thirst and fill our heart with the truth of His Words. By our faith in Him and in His grace, He makes us righteous in the eyes of God (Romans 3:22). Then our mouth speaks of blessings, of love, of peace and of truth coming from our heart.

It is, therefore, of paramount importance to have regular intake of His Words. It is the most precious heavenly commodity we are privileged to have access to while on this earth. Without God's Words in our hearts, our mouth spews out filthy declarations of evil, deception, flattery, hatred, lies and other contemptuous behavior towards God and the people who loves us. That's an attitude that draws a person away from God. And, without God we are nothing. We are merely dust prepared for baking in hell.

But, when we choose to be put right with God and be born again by receiving the Lordship of Jesus in faith, we don't embellish worldly lies to sound true. Rather, by meditation, we boldly declare the painful truth of His Words with our mouth. His truth will set us free (John 8:32). We are blessed, as we crave for what is right. Lord Jesus pronounced this promise in His Sermon on the Mount: “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied." (Matthew 5:6 ESV)

And I say, AMEN!

Blessed New Year 2023!

Greetings EVERYONE!

When God says…

“The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.” (Psalm 46:11 NIV)

He assured us that walking in the grace of God, we can leave 2022 strong by faith in Christ Jesus, with all its unpleasantness totally shut. And, we can enter 2023 stronger! He will usher us in to an open door set before us. We are not alone. He is with us. He is our fortress. The One who has the key of David is with us.

Entering 2023 with trust in His Word and confidently proclaiming the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, we can hold on to His words of promise, as it is written: “And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write, ‘These things says He who is holy, He who is true, “He who has the key of David, He who opens and no one shuts, and shuts and no one opens”: “I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name.”(Revelations 3:7-8 NKJV)

And I say, AMEN!!!

Blessed New Year 2023 to us ALL!
