When God Says …
“Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?” (John 11:40 KJV)
This passage reminds us that it is by faith we can see the supernatural display of the mighty works of God's heavenly power. Yes, it is through the eyes of faith we see His glory! The reason those religious Jews couldn't see, their eyes of faith were filtered by the clouds of worldly doctrines, customs and traditions. Their faith was anchored on the god of pagan-based religion, like in today's religious enterprises in this atheistic society. This tacit reminder springs up from Martha's caution of a rotten smell, as the Lord ordered the stone seal of the tomb rolled away.
In the Lord's reply upon receiving the sisters' message four days before, He made a promise 'this illness will not end in death' (John 11:4). And, in their earlier encounter outside the village, Martha declared that she 'believes in Him - the Messiah, the Son of God, who is to come into the world' (John 11:27).
It is, therefore, a nudge for us to remain settled in our faith, knowing we are born again by grace through faith in our risen Lord Jesus Christ. It is by our believing in the Only begotten Son of God, we can truly experience and see the glorious presence of God in our daily living. “For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.”(Romans 1:17 ESV).
And I say, AMEN!
