The Gospel of John 12:9-11 When God Says...I Say, AMEN!

When God Says …

“Much people of the Jews therefore knew that he was there: and they came not for Jesus' sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead. But the chief priests consulted that they might put Lazarus also to death; because that by reason of him many of the Jews went away, and believed on Jesus.” (John 12:9-11 KJV).

In the Lord's earlier visit in Bethany, He raised Lazarus from death in a never-before-seen supernatural public spectacle. It was a miracle only God can do. No question, it was a sign from heaven affirming who the Lord Jesus is. Rather than accepting this proof of His divinity, the religious priests and leaders in Jerusalem strengthened their resolved to have the Lord Jesus killed. As collateral victim for being raised from death, the religious leaders and Sanhedrin of the Jews, now included Lazarus in their efforts to eliminate the threat to their possessions and positions. For because of Lazarus, their religious attendance was affected. Many who saw the sign from heaven, now see the truth and are set free. They believed in the Lord Jesus Christ! Here, they all converge in the village of Bethany to see the Lord, as well as Lazarus, who He raised from the grave.

These passages give us a heads up that when we choose to receive the Lord Jesus Christ in our life to be our Savior - in a personal intimate level, and be transformed through the process of being born again in spirit, there are always undesired implications on it's wake. Our religious and worldly friends start avoiding us. They isolate us, like they do to a leper. Some may even unleash hatred. In a culture we are in, they'll cancel us. When the Lord Jesus is mentioned in our group discussions, many would either run out or kick you out. Some, who manage to stick around, could not even say Amen to God's Words of truth.

Families would even disown their own! In real time, these are happening in many parts of the world, as well as, to many families in our proximity. The Lord Jesus warns us gravely of all these in His Words, saying: “Brother will deliver brother over to death, and the father his child, and children will rise against parents and have them put to death, and you will be hated by all for my name’s sake. But the one who endures to the end will be saved.” (Matthew 10:21-22 ESV).

And I say, AMEN!
