“Then many of the Jews which came to Mary, and had seen the things which Jesus did, believed on him. But some of them went their ways to the Pharisees, and told them what things Jesus had done.” (John 11:45-46 KJV).
It is incredibly and unbelievably sad that amongst those who witnessed an unparalleled miracle, people can remain obstinately unyielding to such powerful display of God's power. Unbelief has always been and will always be an issue for humanity, especially with those who are held captive by religion, as these Jews were. Thankfully, many believed in the Lord! This is such an obvious demonstration of the two groups of people choosing the available gates and roads to eternity.
Even in such compelling event, some choose to be shackled by the chain of their doctrines, customs and traditions. They rush to their leaders - the Pharisees, the Priests and the Sadducees who are dressed as shepherds but are wolves inside, akin to present day organized pagan-based religious 'churches' of watered down precepts cherry-picked from the Bible. They are those who opted to enter the wide gate leading to the highway of destruction.
This is therefore a reminder to all who are on the crossroad of choosing where to go. We have a litmus test: Choose the way where only a few are going! The Lord Jesus Christ gives us this very important instruction: ““Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.” (Matthew 7:13-14 ESV).
And I say, AMEN!
