When God Says …
“And the Jews' passover was nigh at hand: and many went out of the country up to Jerusalem before the passover, to purify themselves. Then sought they for Jesus, and spake among themselves, as they stood in the temple, What think ye, that he will not come to the feast? Now both the chief priests and the Pharisees had given a commandment, that, if any man knew where he were, he should shew it, that they might take him.” (John 11:55-57 KJV).
These passages exposed the power of religion and wrong believing that hold many captive in satan's dark dungeon of deception. We wonder why they could not see the truth and opportunity to be free? While there may be many explanations we can form, there is only one clear answer: Satan blinded them from the truth. Satan doesn't want them to be set free. The miracle of raising Lazarus from the dead was unprecedented and very conclusive sign to answer their question of who the Lord Jesus Christ is. But, still they would not believe. The Lord Jesus came to offer freedom. But, they wouldn't receive it. Instead, these Priests and Pharisees were determined to rid of the Lord so they can stay happily settled in the lap of the devil's offerings, designed to keep them from the truth. They even use the attendees of the Passover who sought the Lord to help them arrest Him.
This warns us that as much as we may pray and share with people the true gospel of Christ Jesus, some will not believe. But, we must remain steadfast to live by God's grace rooted in faith, always ready in season and out of season to share the Lord's Words of truth (2 Timothy 4:2). We must therefore continue sharing these truths unashamed, as apostle Paul exhorted and testified for our motivation: “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.”” (Romans 1:16-17 ESV).
And I say, AMEN!
